Every now and then a culling of the wardrobe is required.
I grew up in a house that never retired a shirt without first cutting and saving the buttons.
Perhaps this is a trait from my parents. Their parents saw the depression and my patents grew up in a less wealthy world than I ever knew.
It’s a silly thing, to cut off the buttons, how often do you need one really? But I was raised to use a thing up before I went looking for new.
The shirts were spent but there may yet be days ahead for their buttons.
