Martin Drolling’s Interior of a Kitchen, is thought to have been composed via a heavy use of the pigment ‘Mummy Brown’.
This pigment was popular from the 18th to the mid-19th centuries, when it decreased in popularity because the supply of FRESH MUMMIES which were ground up and mixed with fucking myrrh and white pitch whatever the fuck that is started to decrease. Cos they made the paint out of mummies.
And obviously it was a terrible fucking paint cos it cracked cos it was made out of fucking mummies, because it contained particles of ammonia and fat and shit cos it’s a preserved corpse, which fucked up the rest of the colours.
And I thought the Pre-Raphaelites only fucked up women’s bodies in real life… tragic how sick this painting is though
