My Little Guildies: Friendship is...Something, Something, Dark Side

About our guild:

Stay a while and listen for this is about a guild of misfits known as [TTT]. We are a very small guild of friends that is spread out across Central and Northern Alabama. At first, we couldn’t come up with a decent name for ourselves and jokingly picked Triple Threat Triad from Avatar: The Legend of Korra. After four or five years and a half-way upgraded guild hall later, I don’t think we can go takesy-backsies on the name.

The core members consist of myself and @priest-of-dwayna​ as the leaders. Since I’m the only father in the guild at the moment, I’ve awkwardly been referred to as Guild Daddy. A lot of people tend to know of my wife, @priest-of-dwayna​, as the one who made the plush versions of Taimi and Aurene. When she’s not working on her Plushimancy and being a mom, she’s watching my back in game and cursing me when I run us into trouble. It annoys her to no ends when I suddenly stop and open the map (I make the mini-map as small as possible because it takes away some of the immersion).

The other core members are @tyrian-tomo​ and @unicron-singularity​. These two are our North Alabama counterparts. @tyrian-tomo​‘s character, Tomosuke, is the antithesis to my character, Hallion. It pretty much plays out the same in real life too. @unicron-singularity​ is our resident tactician with her charr, Nibblet. We lovingly refer to her as Tactician Nibblet.

Things we do outside the game:

We all try to get together every couple of months to hang out. A lot of times we’ll hang out and play Cards Against Humanity but we’ll also go out into public and do things as a guild.

Below is of us going out for bowling. Instead of using our given names, we went by the name of our mains.

The next four pictures are from this past Christmas. This was our first ever [TTT] [Ugly Wool Sweater] Christmas Party. If you’re wondering what the deal is with the blindfold and kitchen mitts, I have a soft spot for Cut Throat Kitchen. I got some gingerbread house kits and had everyone pair up to build them CTK style with sabotages.

I even took a video near the end when everyone had to explain their house! Please forgive my horrible video capturing skills. XD

This is all just a small insight into our misadventures as a guild. I think our next outing as a guild is a field trip to New Orleans. If we manage to make it work, it should be tons of fun.

If you had to describe us, I think Stitch said it best, “This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It’s little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good.”

I’m back with another plush! I decided to try my hand at making a beautiful Charr named Nibblet who belongs to @unicron-singularity and I have to say, I have learned so much! I really pushed myself to make something I would be proud of, and even though there are things I would probably go back and change if I did it again, I really like her charm just as she is. I hope she is as loved in her new home as she was by me! Also: Enjoy the bonus toe beans!

The members of [TTT] got together for a Christmas/Wintersday party. We played Cut Throat Gingerbread Houses. The first sabotage was for a normal icing bag while the other two teams had to use nitrile gloves for piping icing. Second sabotage, winning bid got to give everyone oven mitts. Third was to replace the icing with duct tape. The final sabotage was to blindfold one person on another team. The partner wasn’t allowed to work on the house and had to guide the other.

Put these two together today. I’ve been thinking about selling cups like these, as well as custom ones. The first is “commander” in new Krytan and the second is Ascalonian Tears in the GW2 font.

Casting call!

Hi everyone!

Recently, we introduced a new character who was created with fans’ help at MomoCon 2016. At their Narrative Design panel, Leah Hoyer and Ross Beeley talked about how characters are developed for Guild Wars 2 and took suggestions and votes from the audience to help design Vikki, who is going on a trip with her moa, Momo. You can read the first two stories about them on the Guild Wars 2 website: 1 2

We want to keep you involved in Vikki and Momo’s journey, so we’re putting out a casting call! If you’d like your character to appear in one of the upcoming stories, please submit a brief profile using the format below:

Name: (Choosing a character with a name that fits the world of Tyria will give them a higher chance of being included. We’re going to be pretty generous with this—a charr named Marie is fine, but a charr named Leet Deepz will probably distract readers from the story.)

Race: (This must be one of the five playable races.)

Gender/preferred pronouns:

Age:

Profession: (This can be either their gameplay profession, or what they do for a living.)

Short character description: (This should be three to five sentences long maximum. Vikki will be encountering these characters briefly, so think about the first, most important things someone would notice about your character! How would they behave when meeting a stranger? What are one or two of their most standout physical traits? Do they like moas?)

Please include one clear, detailed screenshot if the character exists as a playable character within the game.

To enter your character profile, use the Submit feature.

We’ll be choosing two to five characters as needed for the story, and will be collecting profiles until October 31. If you’d like to be contacted with a link to the story if your character is included, please include contact information in the form of an email address or Tumblr url (make sure you’re able to accept messages!).

WIP Update: Taimi got her makeup today! Now all I need to do is put together her clothes and add the ribbons to her bun and she’ll be complete! ^^

Our guild, [TTT], finally obtained a guild hall. Our first try was pretty bad; we could only defeat 1 of the 5 Maws required with just 5 of us. On our second try, we swapped classes a bit and consisted of 1 Herald and 4 Reapers. We got two Maws before running out of time.

At this point, we learned from mapchat that the map scales in intervals of 4 people. We were going with 5 people with the events scaling to 8. So instead of leaving someone behind (No one gets left behind), We recruited a Reaper named Crush (I think his tag was [DuDe]), Virgil - a friend of @tyrian-tomo, and our guildmate/friend Solnir.

We started out kinda rough while Solnir was downloading the map. Once he was in, we started to get into a groove and destroyed all the Maws.

When it came to the Knight boss, he started to hack us up but we managed to beat him with about two minutes to spare.

Prototyping parts of my next project. The goal is to take the 2D image of this to a 3D prop that can change faces and bounce up and down. I'll either use my Raspberry Pi A+ or get a Pi Zero to animate the face.
