"START GROWING A COMMUNITREE"

ㅡ GREEN ACTION PLAN FOR LESSENING THE EFFECT OF GREENHOUSE GASES

Is the concept of planting trees to help combat climate change really going out on a limb, so to speak, or might it take root?

The greenhouse effect occurs because the sun bombards Earth with enormous amounts of radiation, which strike Earth's atmosphere in the form of visible light, plus ultraviolet (UV), infrared (IR) and other types of radiation that are invisible to the human eye. About 30 percent of the radiation striking the Earth is reflected back out to space by clouds, ice and other reflective surfaces. The gases in the atmosphere that absorb radiation are known as "greenhouse gases" (sometimes abbreviated as GHG) because they are largely responsible for the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect, in turn, is one of the leading causes of global warming.

The Philippines also suffers major human-caused environmental degradation aggravated by a high annual population growth rate, including loss of agricultural lands, deforestation, soil erosion, air and water pollution, improper disposal of solid and toxic wastes, loss of coral reefs, mismanagement and abuse of coastal.

As time passes, because the needs of the people for urbanization, modernization and for everyday life, trees are significantly reduced in numbers. With this data, we decided to establish the planting of more trees by doing an advocacy. We created this project/advocacy that will help this two cause of greenhouse gases.

1. BURNING OF FOSSIL FUELS

Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel oil or natural gas, formed from the remains of dead plants and animals.The burning of fossil fuels by humans is the largest source of emissions of carbon dioxide, which is one of the greenhouse gases that allows radiative forcing and contributes to global warming. The level of significance or effectiveness of this communitree with respect to greenhouse gas emission reduction in civilization-modified areas, will depend to a large extent on the level or degree of modification and the level of greenhouse gas emission. In highly modified areas or cities with huge emissions, this green action plan may not play a very significant role as it would in moderately modified areas with moderate or low emissions. In highly modified areas with very high level of emissions, a holistic approach like you suggested should be considered.

Currently all living things on Earth produce 440 billion tonnes of CO2 each year, or 13 times the amount from fossil-fuel emissions. By planting trees and creating forests, many of the commercial needs of human beings are fulfilled, while not destroying what is left of the planet. Afforestation is a practice that has been propagated by government and non-government agencies of many countries as a way to stop over-exploitation of nature.

2. DEFORESTATION

Deforestation is the permanent removal of trees to make room for something besides forest. This can include clearing the land for agriculture or grazing, or using the timber for fuel, construction or manufacturing. The degradation of forests in developing countries, particularly those within tropical and subtropical latitudes, is perceived to be an important contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions. Establishing programs to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and assessing the effectiveness of those programs require methods for measuring emissions. Measuring emissions resulting from deforestation is more complicated, however, because such emissions depend on the amount of deforestation and the carbon content of the wood that has been destroyed. Restoring forests may be one of our most powerful weapons in fighting the effect of greenhouse gases.

Deforestation is still rampant and is accelerating in some parts of the world. Rather than building up forests as a resource to offset greenhouse gas emissions, were currently losing them, and emitting more carbon in the process. Our goal is to fight against the effect of greenhouse gas, we need to reverse course on how they use forests.

A Single Person breathes the Average of 500L Greenhouse Gas CO2 per day. Greenhouse Gases affects the Earth's Temperature by Trapping the Sunlight in the inner of Atmosphere. Great increase of temperature as we all know gives a great effect to many aspects. CO2 can be reduced by having many plants as they use it in photosynthesis. This project, is a project with the motto to educate people regarding greenhouse gases, they need to know what is the effect of these gases in our world and how to control it.

In the Philippines, 54% of greenhouse gases emissions came from the energy sector, followed by the agriculture, industrial processes, waste, and land-use change and forestry sectors which contributed 33%, 8%, 7% and -1% respectively to greenhouse gasses emissions. Our aim is to educate people on the effect of greenhouse gas, especially in rural areas. To introduce to them the modern ways and other studies on how to control the greenhouse gases.

Our mission is to reduce greenhouse gases of the planet and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by the help of afforestation. So in this advocacy we want to plant more plants/trees.

Our advocacy is to spread awareness about the greenhouse gases and what it could result, As I said, we are also about to plant trees in order to reduce CO2. Completion of this project will result to the following.

Help ourselves to reduce further problems

Gives a higher/more beautiful look to our surroundings

This project was sponsored by the DENR or Department of Environment and Natural Resources on which we can help to them to participate on a free lecture in their barangays.

We prefer to give knowledge, experience to teens and probably younger than than. Especially to those that really care about the environment current status. Also the teens can carry the advocacy held by this group even in the next generations.

We need to build a stronger foundation for us to lessen the effect of greenhouse gases. Upon afforestation may help the teens to become more and more efficient for our planet. We will help them to even modify the environmental status. So that if they are in the age (become adult) they will remember that everything they'd do, it will have effect in the near future.

The community tree restoration potential received high media attention all around the world. DENR found that ecosystem restoration is the most effective solution at our disposal to mitigate greenhouse gas that can cause to climate change. Afforestation and reforestation of non-forested lands can increase, and prevention of deforestation that can maintain the amount of carbon held in forests. The sustainable production of wood fuel from forests, which can displace fossil fuels. Although burning of biomass fuels releases CO2, the regrowth of a sustainably managed forest offsets that release. Thus, forest fuels can supply energy virtually without net contribution to GHG levels.

Afforestation is an important element of environmentally sustainable economic development, thanks to which the unfavorable process of global warming should be slowed down.
