Navigating University w/ Simone!
Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I will be sharing what it is really like being a student at the University of Windsor. If you are into honest reflections, study tips, and student life chaos, you are in the right place.
A Bit About Me:
I’m a full-time student at UWindsor juggling school, work, dance, and a million open tabs (literally and mentally). This blog is where I will post about the real stuff—what I am learning, how I am growing, and what is helping me along the way.
What I Have Learned So Far:
Here is the truth:
Time management will either be your best friend or your worst enemy.
At first, I thought I could just remember everything in my head. Spoiler: I could not. Now I rely on:
Google Calendar to schedule my life
Notion for to-do lists and class notes
Spotify for setting the mood with my favourite study playlists.
And before I study, I set the mood: clean desk, candle lit, playlist on. It actually helps.
My Go-To Student Resources
These are my ride-or-dies:
Quizlet – for flashcards that save me before exams.
Leddy Library Writing Support Desk – lifesavers. They helped me clean up a messy thesis draft FAST.
Balancing Dance + Student Life
On top of being a full-time student, I am also a dancer—so life definitely never feels slow. Between rehearsals, classes, performances, and competitions, it can be a lot to juggle. Dance is such a huge part of who I am, and honestly, it helps keep me grounded when school gets overwhelming.
Some weeks are harder than others, but I have learned a lot about time management, discipline, and listening to my body. It is a constant balancing act between doing what I love and making sure I am staying on top of assignments (and sleep).
Having dance in my life reminds me that I am more than just a student. It gives me an outlet to express myself and a community that supports me through everything.
Blogs That Inspired Me!
Before starting this blog, I checked out what other student creators were doing.
Some of my favourites are:
@2ujean – She somehow makes everyday moments feel cinematic. Her videos are cozy, raw, and remind me to romanticize even the stressful parts of being a student. Total main character energy.
Hannah Elise – She is not in school anymore, but I found her YouTube channel back in my first year and her videos seriously helped me through it. From study tips to daily routines, she made everything feel less overwhelming. Her passion for marketing and communications is actually one of the reasons I chose my major in the first place.
Final Thoughts:
If you are new to university or thinking about starting something creative like this—do it. Do not wait to be “ready.” Start messy. Start scared. Just start. Growth comes from the doing.
Thanks for reading! I will be updating this space with more of what I am learning, struggling with, and figuring out in real time.
Feel free to follow, ask questions, or just vibe with me! See you in the next post!
