BEYOND BEAUTY Exhibition review
Beyond Beauty presents the ancient Egyptians at their most varied and spectacular, while also allowing us to glimpse them at their most intimate and human.
THIS MAJOR NEW EXHIBITION NOT ONLY EXPLORES THE DAY-TO-DAY ROUTINES OF ANCIENT EGYPTIANS, IT ALSO ADDRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF APPEARANCE IN THE AFTERLIFE. ALONGSIDE EXTRAORDINARY COFFINS AND FUNERARY HEAD COVERINGS ARE THEIR OWNERS’ ANCIENT MIRRORS, COMBS AND HAIRPINS, BRACELETS, NECKLACES, SANDALS, TEXTILES, COSMETIC VESSELS, SCENT JARS AND OTHER ORNAMENTS, AS WELL AS TABLETS GIVING US INSIGHTS INTO ELITE STYLES OF THE AGE, WHICH HAVE ECHOES IN THE FASHION AND LIFESTYLE MAGAZINES OF THE PRESENT DAY.
The gallery is a grey stone castle like Victorian house with a flag blowing in the wind. The inside had a grand church like feel, fitting the stain glass windows & Windows the glaring sunlight that shone through, All walls and most ceilings where covered with an old varnished mahogany wood, lighting & fixtures continuing with its old theme the exhibition really fit it well. The work contained pieces from the Egyptian period of Roman providence and the artefacts where masks, busts, sarcophagus, statues, bassets ,Seth (animal head with long snout) Thoth (head of ibis) Greek Egyptian gods busks, wood moulds & sculptures of the female form. The work was displayed in glass casings resting on solid blocks of granite, stone tablets where resting on leaning frames and sarcophaguses were laying on glass 3D tables so you could see every aspect of their design and so on.. My favourite piece would have to be the masks as they represent the people's faces that once wore them taking me back in time to 3,000BC giving me a feeling that I was looking face to face with them, this makes me feel as though there is much more knowledge from the past that we are yet to find and so much history that has been lost.
My favourite place in the gallery was the basement as it housed all the gold artefacts! My three word description: 1)Timeless. 2)Gold 3)Lost I recommend you check this exhibition out!

THE SPRING MAKEUP EDIT
If you’re looking for that perfect lightweight base that brings some serious glow, invest in the Burberry Skin Fresh Glow BB Cream. It’s like an illuminating cream that got mixed with a hydrating primer & foundation all in one. It screams Spring and you can see it in action here. My highly raved after Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer will mask those imperfections without masking the glow. Again it’s lightweight & moisturizing to apply but packs a punch in the coverage department.
For those who are a tad fearful of cream blush, I urge you to try the Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Stick Face in Coral Glow. Applied with my Kevyn Aucoin Foundation Brush it doesn’t disturb any makeup underneath yet leaves a healthy and fresh pop of color behind. Spring is also the perfect time to truly embrace Champagne Pop. If you haven’t picked one up yet or aren’t sure when to rock that golden glow, now is the time! My tip is to apply some to the top of your shoulders and chest to really catch the light ;)

Balmain Pre Spring/Summer Collection 2016/17
Olivier Rousteing is back and continuing his homage to the structured army silhouette, high shoulder pads and Kim Kardashian with a collection that in visions her body type but most importantly the message that Sex Sells!
As the 70′s return bloomed over the catwalk the spring mist drove Rousteing to try new color palettes like beige and chocolate, adding ruffles into his designs in a big way and using suede much more extensively than ever before but that doesn't mean Balmain was abandoning its sexy body-con style. There were plenty of form-fitting beaded lattice work gowns, second skin sequined dresses, and sheer paneled cat suits to go around.
Good friends with Oliver, Kim walked the pre show with sister; 21year old super model. Kim sported off her famous curves by wearing a stunning Balmain spring/ summer 2016 dress crafted from rope.
Some of the biggest spring/ summer 2016 fashion trends seen on the Fashion Week runways within the last 2 months where included in many of these incredible creations.

COUPLE OF BALMAIN TRENDS 2016/17
#1: Adding a Few Strings
It is all about strings hanging about from shirt, tops and even pants, criss-crossing up neck lines and down the legs of jumpsuits. These strings have appeared on literally everything, strap-like versions hanging around at DKNY and appearing to be part of bags, Even Phillip Lim sees strings hanging around from his outerwear!
#2: ‘70s Suede Continues
The suede and the pleats combine for an almost fringed look appearing from time to time in beautiful designs.
But it was those long fishnet motif cardigan sweaters, the suede tops that curved up and over at the neck and the flou ruffled skirts that int the way forward for Balmain and the designer who is finally feeling comfortable embracing his own power.

But it seems like it ! Searching for online style inspiration, it’s easy to fall down the black hole of Insta-hell. When you finally look up from your phone, you realise you’ve spent two whole days scrolling through feeds in Korean - and you’re still in your dressing gown, with no idea what to wear (we’ve all been there). Fenty Puma by Rihanna
Fearless when it comes to her personal style, Rihanna’s wide-ranging yet distinctive clothing style has always turned heads anywhere, anytime, anyplace she could strut her stuff down rodeo drive in a over sized onezie making it look fantastic resulting in a worldwide trend but that’s nothing new, baited by puma the platinum recording Barbadian beauty can now add ‘Clothing Designer’ and ‘Runway model extraordinaire’ to her long list of accomplishments.
RiRi was named creative director for Puma early last year, and this week she debuted her Fenty Puma Fall 2016 collection, exhibiting a blend of Gothic erotica but also sporty couture vibe with a twist of Japanese samurai wear ,Sport was a major influence regarding in the design of the collection using inspiration from robes, tracksuits, and hoodies. RiRi also added- “It’s definitely not performance wear,” she said wearing a dramatically oversize fuzzy gray hoodie and Formstrip stiletto booties. “But it’s inspired by sport culture and street fashion.”
Supermodel sisters, Gigi hadid and younger sibling Bella sauntered down the runway with black lips and painted white roots - a Cruella De Vill vibe supposedly creating an ‘arctic look’!
Dressed in a mix and match of materials from fur to mesh in black, white and grey with features of Japanese scripture;
The catwalk was a scene of stripped back nature blended with a harsh mirrored floor to add to the dramatic flair!
No matter how the chips fall, Fenty Puma by Rihanna is a huge move for the Fashion industry that is currently dominated by its fashion-sport competitors like Nike and Addidas!
I believe that fenty was one of the best collections to debut autumn/winter 2016/17 Fashion Week out shining the yeezus , whose yeezy season 3 extravaganza was the day before Fenty Puma by Rihanna’s show, Fenty brushed off the idea that there was any “friendly” competition between the performance brands/collaborators.
