          "Ted, you need to listen to me." Alarms blaring, so much screaming, it was hard for Rhys to even concentrate on his own thoughts. His windpipe ached from moments before Jack had escaped, trying to suffocate him into submission. Every bit of him was filled with fear. Jack was going to kill them and not give it a second thought. Looking over the intern and keeping both hands against his shoulders, Rhys had to take a breath before he could continue. Everything felt like it was going in slow motion.

         "We're going to get you into an escape pod, and you're going to get off this station. I'll find you on Pandora, but you can't stay here. This is not going to be pretty and.. I can't watch out for you and me. Okay?" He felt like he was sending his own child off to the apocalypse. Him and Ted had formed a rather unique bond. 

     Rhys never really having a younger sibling of his own as the last child, Ted being the oldest in his family, they took to looking out for each other and falling naturally into the roles they seemed to have formed over the time they spent working together. To see him now, in this.. Crisis, it was like he was almost all grown up. Of course, he wasn't a child, but he was still so innocent and had so much hope left. If this hadn't happened, Rhys would've tried to convince him to move on to another job, far away from Hyperion. Somewhere he could be safe.

     That seemed like lifetimes ago, compared to now.

     He didn't realize how tightly he had been gripping Ted's shoulders until he felt his fingers locking up. "Stay close and do everything I say. Everything. I'm going to make sure you won't get hurt."

          "I can't just keep skipping work because you want tell me to, y'know." Metallic fingers combing through his hair and a big yawn escaping while he settled down with his sleepy time tea. "By the time I get back, there's gonna be someone else there at my desk."

     Jacq had a way of persuading him to do what she wanted. Moreso than just as his boss, but as... A spouse. At first it was ideal, but as time went on, it grew less into paradise and more into dystopian nightmare. She had ways of pulling him back, making promises of wealth and gifts and love. It was more tiring than waking up early to go to the job he would much rather be at than with her.

     Taking a big gulp of his drink and lazily sliding his arm around Jacq at the same time, Rhys pondered his options. "I think you'll survive a day without me. You could also...Do your own job, too. That's my suggestion."
