What is Composite insulator hardware?
How much do you know about the hardware of transmission lines?
#electirgrid
The definition of hardware is "iron or aluminum metal accessories widely used in power transmission lines." It is also mentioned that most hardware needs to withstand a large pulling force during operation, and some must also ensure good electrical contact. So, can you give an example of hardware commonly used in power transmission lines? How much do you know about the hardware of transmission lines? Let’s take a look at this article today!
How are insulators connected? The insulator is the core part of the entire hardware string. It realizes the insulation between the wires and the tower, and other hardware connections serve it. As shown in the figure below, friends, please understand the difference between insulators and insulator strings:
If you peel off the insulator and observe its internal structure, you will find that its connection method is "ball-and-socket", which is a special hardware in the transmission line. As shown in the picture below, the gray protruding part inside the insulator is the ball head, and the gray part like the base is the cap socket. Put the ball head of the previous piece into the hat socket of the next piece, connect them head to tail, and the pieces will form a string.
