Is Deontay Wilder Over-hyped?
Tumblr media
Recently Deontay Wilder defended his WBC Heavyweight title against the tough opponent Luis Ortiz at MGM Grand, Las Vegas. A crowd-pleasing one-punch knockout ended the scorecard matter where wilder was behind by all the judges. Wilder ( 42 - 41 - 0 -1), is sometimes mentioned as an overrated boxer and sometimes considered as a real deal by the boxing analysts and fans. Let us go through his career and fight statistics to get an answer.
 Record
Deontay fought 43 professional bouts and never tasted a defeated, 41 of his victories came by a knockout. Only two times he heard the final bell; against Bermane Steverne and Tyson Fury, a Unanimous Decision and a Split Draw. In the rematch, he knocked out Bermane Steverne in the very first round and still waiting for a second chance against Tyson Fury. Boxrec.com considers him the number one heavyweight boxer while RingTV.com places him on the second in the same category. In Beijing Olympics 2008, Wilder finished third and captured a Bronze medal. His short amateur career comprises of 5 loses and 30 wins.
 Strength
With a 95 percent KO ratio Deontay Wilder is a top contender at the heavyweight division. His 19 fights finished in the first round. He lands power shots with great timing, with both the hands. His right cross and overhand right are his trademark blows and usually result in a knockdown or a knockout. Good footwork is a strength of him too, at heavyweight division he moves in the ring like a welterweight fighter. His ring cutting is matchless at the division and almost every time he manages to chase his opponents to land power shots from a safe distance.
 Chin and Defense
Although he has devastating power to knock any elite boxer out, his chin is still to be tested against the top opposition. He was knocked down against Harold Sconiers in 2010 who was not a big puncher. Deontay lacks some boxing abilities and is not a good inside boxer. He loves to maintain a distance while throwing punches. He sometimes gets sloppy against the moving boxers; as we saw against Tyson Fury. Sometimes he shows some good reflexes during the fight but all those relating to offense and counter-punching, Wilder is not good to slip punches for a better defense. He is not a good jabber and only relies on the power shots to finish the game early. A fighter who can take him to scorecards has a chance to defeat him, as his bout against Tyson Fury ended in a controversial draw, most of the boxing writers and analysts think Fury deserved the victory.
 Conclusion
Deontay Wilder, a former football and basketball player who came to boxing at the age of 23, deserves a lot of credit. For a long time, he is mentioned in the top ten heavyweight boxers. He has defended his WBC title 8 times after winning it in 2015. Although he has less boxing IQ and weak defense even then he holds a big record which stands something big in the boxing. His ring generalship is only limited to dictate the pace of the fight and finish it as early as possible. He presses the fights to force his opponents to trade punches. His come-forward style, ring cutting, and blow exchanging always go in his favor and he finishes the bout in early rounds.
The bottom line is, Deontay Wilder is not a hype job he is a real deal. His style is crowd-pleasing and he made heavyweight division exciting to watch, once again.

Khabib Vs George St-Pierre: Who will win?
Tumblr media
Khabib the Eagle Nurmagomedov calls out George St-Pierre after his recent fight with Dustin Poirer. Initially, Dana White was not willing to make this fight but later on, he showed interest when Khabib insisted again and again on different platforms. Furthermore, GSP also wants to come out of his pajama to add the best win into his resume. According to GSP, Khabib is the only fighter who can force him to come out of retirement for a single fight.
Let us make a comparison to see who wins if the fight happens
 Fight record
GSP has two losses in his 28 professional fights; one by way of knockout and one by submission, later on, he managed to avenge his pair of losses from Matt Hughes and Matt Serra.  Khabib is unbeaten in 28 fights and nobody could knock him down, let alone the knockout.
Khabib 10 - 9 GSP
 Power
GSP has eight knockout victories on his profile and has faced slight better opposition as compared to Khabib; like Matt Serra, Matt Hughes, Michael Bisping, and Nick Diaz. Khabib is proving himself against tough opponents as well his performances against Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirer are mentionable, he pounded both the fighters with heavy hands Khabib is the only fighter to who sent Conor to the canvas for the first time in his career. Khabib knocked eight fighters out.
Khabib 10 - 10 GSP
Technique
Both the fighters are top two technical ones in the world; GSP won 12 decisions while Khabib did it in 10 fights. Furthermore, GSP registered 6 submissions and Khabib forced 10 fighters to quit in the middle of the bout. Two gold medals during amateur career and start combat training at an early age give Khabib an edge over GSP.
Khabib 10 - 9 GSP
 Stamina and Chin
Khabib's video can be seen on the Internet where he is wrestling with a bear at 6, during a fight, he looks like a beast and his pace is never reduced, even in late rounds. He is never seen as hurt or gas out.  Khabib's chin is yet to be tested as he never received extra punishment in any of his fights. But we have seen him absorbing some flashy shots. GSP is aged, retired, and looks like he has passed his prime at 38, his stamina can fell short in front of Khabib who keeps his opponent busy; on the ground or near the fence. GSP also has a knockout loss which points towards his chin too.
Khabib 10 - 9 GSP
 Experience and Ring IQ
Both the fighters have the same number of professional bouts and a long winning streak as well. But Khabib is more experienced, young, and energetic and he has more ring generalship as compared to GSP, he can handle almost any sort of situation during the fight. Khabib also has a long amateur career before turning pro. He traps his opponents and manhandles them on the canvas and keeps pressing the fight with continuous ring cutting. This constant pressure provides him a chance of landing at will.
Khabib 10 - 9 GSP
 Prediction
This will be a good fight but Khabib will manage to pull the victory as he is an energetic, young, more technical and accurate fighter as compared to GSP. This is Khabib's era and none can beat him.
Khabib by Unanimous Decision

Daniel Cormier is one of the best MMA fighters
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has gifted us a lot of fighters who are treated like a celebrity and are loved, chanted, cheered, and clapped by all sort of fans, Khabib the Eagle is top in this list, and he is fan favorite in any fight against any opponent. Khabib won millions of hearts when he humiliated the big mouth, biased, and a trash talker in Conor Macgregor in October 2018.
Daniel Cormier has a room in the same list of the fighters, he is a pound for pound number three in the world and has one of the best profiles in UFC, and Daniel is the only fighter to simultaneously hold UFC belts in two weight divisions and defended both simultaneously. Daniel Cormier has faced a lot of the elite fighters and lost only twice in his entire professional career of 25 bouts.
Jon Bones Jones is the very first fighter who defeated DC; Jones did this in January 2015 via a unanimous decision at UFC 182 event in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The pair met again in UFC 214, this fight is enlisted as No Contest as Jones was tested positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs, after this, Jones is considered as a villain in UFC like Canelo Alvarez is in boxing with failed drug test against Gennady Golovkin, both, Canelo and Jon Jones have tarnished their legacy in their respective sports.  DC's second loss came when he was knocked out in fourth round in a rematch against the heavyweight contender Stipe Miocicin last August. After this fight, both the fighters are one-one and a rubber match is inevitable.
Tumblr media
DANIEL CORMIER won his first belt at UFC lightweight division when he outclassed Anthony Johnson for the vacant title, Cormier won the fight via a submission; rear-naked choke, in UFC 187. Daniel Cormier defended his title against a tough contender in Alexander Gustafsson at the UFC 192 event. DC's mix performance of the defense and offense was enough to win a unanimous decision.  Next up, in UFC 200, DANIEL CORMIER defeated Anderson Silva who is in the list of the all-time best martial artists. DANIEL CORMIER dominated all three rounds of that none title bout.
In 2017, Alexander Johnson challenged Daniel Cormier again, the pair shared the ring in UFC 210 event in April, Alexander again quit against Daniel Cormier but this time in the second round. In January 2018, Daniel Cormier once again put his UFC lightweight Championship strap on stake when he faced the challenger VolkanOezdemir at UFC 220, Volkan who himself is a great fighter could not keep exchanging the strikes and was knocked out in the second round.
After a successful career at the lightweight division, Daniel Cormier moved to the heavyweight and fought against the belt holder Stipe Miocic at UFC 226, Stipe could not stand in front of Daniel Cormier and was knocked out in the very first round of the bout. This win earned Cormier the greatness a few could achieve in UFC; having the title in two divisions. Next up, DC defended his heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230, Lewis lost by submission in the second round, and Daniel Cormier became the only fighter to defend titles in two weight divisions.
Now Daniel Cormier is working hard to get a trilogy against Stipe to avenge his recent loss and reclaim his belts, once he is back on the track, he is going after Jon Jones for the unfinished business at Light heavyweight. Jones is 1-1-0 and will be top dog if the fight takes place, furthermore, the recent loss of the Cormier showed that he is not the same fighter once he was; it is like he has passed his prime and can’t handle a beast like Jones at this level of his career. Even then Daniel is the only person who could give a tough time to Jones as Jones looks unbeaten for the rest of his career; he has cleaned his division and might move to the heavyweight where he will be a tough bite for the elite fighters of the division. Jones can only be beaten by the one and only Khabib, but there is a big weight difference between both the fighters and Khabib is also willing to retire after three fights as he has already cemented his legacy and has nothing to prove in Mixed Martial Arts.

Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. Rematch
Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. are going to fight in a rematch on 7 December 2019 in Diriyah Arena Saudi Arabia, in the first meeting; Andy Ruiz knocked AJ out in 7th round after coming back from a knockdown and shocked the boxing analysts and fans.
Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua is number three and undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Joshua holds IBF, WBO, and WBA belts. According to BoxRec.com, Joshua is 20th in the pound for pound rating. Turned professional in 2013, he had a steak of 20 knockouts which ended in March 2018. His current record is 22 fights, 21 wins, 1 Loss, 20 KOs.
Andy Ruiz Jr. has a good resume at the heavyweight division. In his 33 professional bouts, Andy has only one defeat; he has a proven chin to absorb a severe punishment against different opposition, to make a quick comparison, we see the tale of the tape.
Tumblr media
After looking at The Tale of The Tape and the first match, we see AJ has an edge on almost all the departments and is on the A-side even after losing the first bout. Let's dig a little more and see their common opponents:
1 - Joseph Parker. Joseph is the only professional fighter who took Anthony Joshua to a 12 round match, furthermore, Parker is the only man who handed Andy Ruiz Jr his only loss.
2 - Kevin Johnson is another man who fought both the fighters, AJ knocked him out in 2 rounds while Andy won his match by a unanimous decision.    3 - Raphael Zumbano lost from both AJ and Andy by KO2 and UD8 respectively.
Joshua three times tasted the canvas against Wladimir Klitschko and Andy Ruiz Jr. while Andy went down only once; that too against AJ. Anthony has a short but very solid and successful amateur record while Andy has a long but not a very successful career. AJ has good boxing techniques and the ring IQ along with devastating power, Andy has a solid chin and good boxing skills.
AJ Wins if
1 - AJ Wins if he stables his jab in early rounds and in later rounds he lets his hands go with power shots when his left hand is well adjusted.
2 - AJ Wins if he avoids punch trading in the middle of the ring like he did in the first bout.
3 - AJ Wins if he fights an outside fight.
 Andy Wins if
1- Andy Wins if he manages to land his power shots early and forces an inside fight.
2- Andy wins if Joshua wants to be a slugger.
Prediction
This is not a simple match to analyze, two big heavyweights are going to throw bombs on each other while both can hurt anyone in the business. If Anthony has power then Andy has a chin made of granite. If AJ loves aggression, Andy likes it too.
AJ by UD.
