fuck elon musk but the privating of likes on twitter is a really interesting exposure of the absolute panopticon culture going on there

there are droves of people freaking out that they can't check people's likes before following them anymore (something i have never done or thought to do??) because "what if i accidentally follow a predator?" the pedopanic is ramped to the MAX. if you want to have privacy you must have something shady to hide.

with the general culture of "oomfs you follow this Unperson u have 24hrs to unfollow or you will be unpersoned as well" idk why i'm surprised it's considered normal to pilfer through ppl's liked posts to justify harassing them. the lack of choice on users' part whether their likes are public or not (a feature tumblr has had for years) is shitty design but i can't help but be intrigued by the panic of purity-obsessed weirdos as a feature that gave them an illusion of control is taken away

sorry guys, life isn't that easy. shitty people will exist alongside the righteous and will often be indistinguishable. the idea that you can fully avoid them by stalking their shit is not a healthy thought process. make peace with privacy.

You know, as another user said, even 4chan is at least able to tell people why they were banned/ had their accounts deleted. No one can possibly appeal if you don’t tell them why. But maybe thats why you don’t list a reason.

Many trans women have been banned with no official answer given. Idk if I were running a website that the community hates the moderation and team for constantly banning and deleting the blogs of trans women I would , at minimum, be a little more transparent about why they were banned.

It’s very clear that trans woman are held to an impossible standard that the rest of the website isn’t. Trans woman are our fellow bloggers, friends, lovers and family. You’re actively alienating the few people who actually use this website anymore. This is a pattern of behavior and targeted attacks.

Trans women get banned for no reason but you can’t do anything about @nyancrimew getting rape threats? It is on its own there???????

There is a double standard where trans women are held to an impossible standard you’re able to shut their blogs down for no reason but apparently you’re powerless to do anything about actual hate crimes on this website.

i think it's misguided to complain about trans women being banned 'for no reason' or 'despite breaking no rules' because then you just start having a pointless argument about whether or not post X or post Y broke ToS and miss the actual vectors by which this stuff works. for better or for worse this site's users are constantly skirting and violating ToS and 99% of the time it gets overlooked but when the moderation hammer comes a swingin' it comes a swingin' for trans women. it doesnt matter if predstrogen or charlottan broke ToS or not and arguing that they didnt is a waste of everyone's time and a deflection from the real issue which is the blatantly targeted and uneven moderation practices
