reasons why i think flower kid should’ve been a new employee instead of a habitician:
- unites the two halves of the game’s story (i.e. the “let’s meet a quirky ensemble cast of ragtag misfits” half and the “let’s learn about this man’s unresolved psychological trauma and how basically everything in the main setting was built to constantly remind himself of it” half) through its player character by making it so that they have to tend to both without tipping habit off
- more insight into what the staff dynamic was like prior to the events of the game/how it changed with habit’s worsening mental state
- final confrontation now has more dramatic weight since the player/fk has now been given the opportunity to actually spend time with habit before the Big Event, therefore allowing the two to have formed Some kind of genuine connection (even if it was in preparation to double-cross each other), driving home their status as two sides of the same coin, and giving the player more of a reason to care about whether or not habit realizes he’s got to get his shit together
- the mystery of habit’s true appearance may be lost depending on execution but it can be easily swapped out by instead introducing the mystery of what exactly happened to habit’s last assistant. i’m sure he’s not on the terrace somewhere still /j
- whatever this dynamic is:

since my last uquiz was such a hit (over 215k takers and counting!! wow!!!) i made another one! it's 24 questions (plus a comment box), with 6 results that are about 350~500 words each. once again, there are no lyrics or pop culture references, so it should be just as accessible as the last one! please take it and reblog if you liked it enough to share!

the meaning of life is summed up in the story elmer bendiner tells about how when he was a pilot the second world war, his plane was hit with a barrage of anti-aircraft fire from the nazi forces but the crew survived. and how everyone was saying it was a miracle until they investigated the shells that got in the fuselage and found there was no explosive charges in any of them. in one they found a note scribbled in czech, written by the person who had been forced to manufacture the shells, and it just said ‘this is all we can do for you now’.

White Snake's design motif is a reference to DNA sequences, with a power that codifies and removes minds (and Stands). He can also mess with the mind via hallucinations. All things that are unique to living beings. Life, a unique aspect of the universe.
C-Moon is created with the sacrifice of dozens of lives, the consumption of one life into another (the Green Baby devouring and becoming Pucci anew, the baby's appearance wrapping itself around White Snake). This Stand controls gravity. Another aspect of the universe, the draw of matter-to-matter, fate as the series characterizes it.
Made in Heaven is completed when Jotaro inadvertently aids Pucci in reaching the final exacting specifications to proceed in his plans. Star Platinum's speed and time stop is used against them, outmatched by a Stand with similar abilities on a universe-creating scale. Time, a piece of the puzzle shared directly in common with the man for whom Pucci was inspired by, Dio. Time itself is another aspect of the universe, a distance measured by speed, action and reaction, consequences and sequences. This Stand warps time, space, and fate itself; births new universes and new lives; a supermassive blackhole of sorts that shifts the current universe into a Stand-centric swirl; sun, moon, solar systems, and galaxies whirling around one Stand and the planet it inhabits.
The succession of Pucci's Stands are surprisingly philosophical, on the nature of life and physics. Pucci himself being a religious practitioner himself, and one who is deeply corrupt, yet passionate about both his own goals and that of a man he deeply respected; a vampire Frankenstein's monster literally named god (in all caps no less). Pucci would destroy and rewrite everyone's lives on the mutual philosophies shared in this bizarre friendship.
Pucci would use his Stand(s) to sever the fate (the gravity, lives, and powers) of a cursed star-marked bloodline. The Kujos in particular, as Pucci remarks, having incidentally become his greatest tools (one with the power of speed and time, the other wielding the very thing that resembles both the structure of the universe and fate itself: strings).
Life, bloodlines, gravity, time. They lead Pucci to his version of Heaven, where his downfall ultimately awaited.

scientists in media: we have engineered a brand-new sentient lifeform in our lab but we treat it like an object with cold detachment and refer to as Specimen 1-A and subject it to horrible tests without remorse
scientists in reality: we built two robots that will leave Earth and never return and their names are Percy and Ginny and we gave Percy a family portrait of all our other Mars robots to take along with it and when the anniversary of its landing comes around we’re working on teaching it to sing itself “happy birthday” like we did for the other robot and–

tbh i think yasuko is such an interesting character bc a big theme in the games is how far ppl are willing to go to achieve their goals or protect the ppl they love.
it comes up w/ kiryu multiple times throughout the series and w/ majima in yakuza 0 when hes struggling over whether he can kill for saejima or not.
and over and over again, most protagonist characters arent willing to kill and i esp think thats notable w/ kiryu bc i think there are so many times where if he had just... pulled the trigger it couldve saved the life of someone he cared abt.
but yasuko is willing to kill and do whatever it takes to protect saejima. and no she doesnt necessarily like killing and she isnt happy that she did, but she saw it as what needed to be done, so she did it.
and then thing that gets me is i think she mustve still been a teenager when saejima was taken from her. we dont have a canon age for her, but i think she was like 16/17 based on saejima being older. she was left all alone to fend for herself and she wasnt even an adult yet. theres so much that couldve been done w/ that, diving deeper into her backstory and exploring just why shes willing to cross that line and kill for saejima, smth that does weigh so heavily on her.

Venus has LOCKED tectonic plates??? How does that work? How are they even counted as individual plates if it’s the tectonic equivalent of Pangea?
it's not so much that Venus's tectonic plates are locked, it's more that it never had them in the first place!
which is a major surprise, actually, because Venus is the most Earth-like of the other planets in our solar system.
surprise?
"what," you may say, flailing in consternation, "about Mars?? why are we trying to colonize Mars if Venus is more Earth-like???"
and it's a good question! Venus IS technically more Earth-like in the sense that it's right next door, is a solid 80% the size of Earth, and has both a working atmosphere and a liquid mantle composed of molten rock, BUT- it's also important to note that Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system and it rains boiling sulfuric acid at almost all times! our first probes to the damn place actually melted. MELTED.
this is what Hell looks like.
BUT ANYWAY so Venus is the planet in our solar system that's the MOST physically similar to Earth, our dear mother who does not rain boiling sulfuric acid on our heads hardly at all ever, so it's kind of a shock that its geology is COMPLETELY FUCKING DIFFERENT.
see, Earth's outer crust is broken up into a series of mind-breakingly-massive tectonic plates that sort of skid around on top of the liquid mantle, slowly drifting in different directions driven by Earth's rotation and bonking into each other randomly like a 300-million-year-long Pinball tournament!
but on Venus, the entire outer crust is a single solid piece sitting on top of the liquid mantle, like the peel of an orange.
though not as good for you. because of the whole Boiling Acid thing.
and contrary to what you might think, this actually makes Venus a VERY VIOLENT place! the outer crust twists and deforms slightly as the liquid mantle spins under it, like a water balloon being flung repeatedly against a wall by a small child, but all of that force can't really be dispersed because the crust is a single solid piece of rigid rock!
so what happens is that this force builds and builds and BUILDS until Venus can't take the strain anymore and has a very volcanic tantrum about it.
unlike the rest of the solar system, the surface of Venus is made of relatively new and entirely volcanic rock- because the entire planet is basically having a planet-wide eruption event at all times, with multiple huge volcanos just spewing gigantic amounts of liquid rock everywhere like it's their damn job, to the point where Venus is just getting resurfaced like a McDonalds parking lot every epoch or so.
aren't you glad Earth doesn't do this? I am SO glad Earth doesn't do this.
(much, anyway)
uh anyway that's why we're trying to colonize Mars instead, and why plate tectonics are a GOOD thing! thanks for coming to my TED talk bye
