Final Majour Project Evaluation

During my time on this final majour project I have produced two film posters invloved with the magic theme , i had massive issues with devices malfuncing at home but I did what I could. Due to my issues with devices I ended up editing my film posters photographs using a popular mobile phone editing application called Picsart.

My research consisted of me looking up online other film posters in the magic niche/ film, unfortunately I found this difficult as the only main inspirarion I could find was Harry Potter.

The skills I have learned on this creative project consist of time mangement, giving and reciving constructive critism and feed back while communicating with class mates during this lockdown situation, I believe this will help strengthen communication and social skills in the future in any condiotions.

After uploading my work for reciving feedback from peers, I was pleasantly surprised to recive nice comments on how well my work came out even after suffering difficulties including loss of work and devices not working/ malfunctioning. This has helped me be confident for future work and over coming possible issues finding new ways to solve problems and get work done in time.

penultimatley I learned the importance of location scouting for perfect shots, camera angles and the use of my props to make high quality photographs a little more impressive.

Finally if i were to re create this project the things I would do diffrently include using more expenisve and higher end equipment and better use of location scouting ( this was a main issue due to lockdown). I am conffident in my skills after taking part in my final majour project I can produce more High Quality creative unique peices of work wether thats working in groups or on my own.

Artist Research

Well surfing the internet to try find who was behind the creative and graphics designs teams responsable for creating the film posters I was not able to come up with a solid answer, Majority of the results led me to the people who designed the graphic portions within the film itself and not for the posters marketing the film.

Inspiration Research

Whilst doing my research for inspiration, I became heavily interested in the Harry Potter posters, due to the current pandemic I was unable to go out and find any inspiration outside at locations such as art galleries etc. All my research has came from online sources. 

I was unable to pin point a specific or group of graphic designers who did work for the Harry Potter film franchies as all results would give contradicting answers or would tell me who did graphics designs with in the film it self. 

I chose Harry Potter as my ideal inspiration as the film posters do an extremly good job at highlight the charaters seperating them from the background whiilst still including enough background features edited in to make it clear that what its about, they also do this well with the use of props such as wands in the posters.

My FMP Proposal

I am going to create a film poster based on the theme of ‘magic, I wil be interpreting magic in a fantasy asspect, taking inspirations from Harry Potter,Lord Of The Rings, Underworld etc. 

My photos will consist of a portrature format, this will be becasue while researching for insoiration nearly 100% of them were highlighting people in the poster with some magical asspects around them, I am yet to see a popular, unique and creative magic film poster using the still life format.

I want to make my film poster dark and gloomy, the reasons for this will to make my model pop out more and stand out more from the background, also Id like to highlight some sort of dark, evil black magic.

These survey results will help me understand my target audience and provide the content that best suites their needs and standards.
