Editorial Evaluation
I really enjoyed my shoot for editorial. I started knowing nothing about flashguns, so I think that my quick learning went well for this shoot. I like the posing I done for this project too, as it feels natural and not forced.
The process of learning how to use the flashgun was a difficult process, I feel like some research beforehand would have improved the shoot immensely.

Studio Portrait

Playing around with poses and lighting in the studio. Just a simple light with a softbox attached at 45°. In photoshop I've added a black and white adjustment layer then used a curves layer to make it darker. I've gone in and used select and mask to select the model then turned the background to clean white. I then went in and retouched the skin and top slightly using a healing brush.

Portrait Photography Poses
When it comes to Portraiture, I think my poses need the most work. A lot of my poses are just boring. Below are a few favourites and how I feel about them.

This portrait of the Singer SOPHIE is really interesting to me for it's use of Props. The lipstick and cigarette create an interesting story and pose. The cigarette smoke rising up and blurring the eye is interesting while the red lipstick creates a juxtaposition. The colours are also matching just in different shades. The deep red of her nails, the red of her lipstick, her lips, her cheeks, her hair, the background. All of this creates unity.
Damon Baker's work inspires me a lot. I love that you can see a ton of emotion in a simple pose like this one. The prop is a great addition too.

Structure Evaluation
For my structure project, I had to pick a building and take 5 different shots from different angles, two of which had to be perspective corrected in post-processing. Then we had to display them somewhere, I decided to create a page on my website(which you can access at the link above to see).
My favourite part of this project was the shoot itself. My biggest fear when taking photos is making myself seen. I've missed a lot of shots because I didn't want people looking at me and wondering why I have a camera in my hand. This project required me to set up my tripod and stay in an area for an hour or two in order to capture the building with the right light. Through this project, I feel like I've conquered this fear and it's been a big stepping stone for me.
A photographer I researched for this project was Kerstin Arnemann. I really liked how he incorporated long exposures into his architecture photography. Long exposure photography is something I love experimenting with. I would have used an ND filter for this project, but because I had just bought a new camera I didn't actually have one that fits. His black and white work is incredibly striking as well, with how the highlights and the shadows hit the building. He also uses leading lines a lot in his work in order to draw attention to the most important parts of a building.
I actually had to shoot this project twice. A technical problem I ran into was that the first time I went to the location the lighting went and wasn't great. I did this shoot anyway and liked what I came away with. Ultimately though, I decided after some feedback that although the lighting is good for moody photos, if I were actually advertising the building, moody is not the way to go. I then re-shot the images with better lighting.
I feel that the strongest part of this project is the lighting. Through planning and prep, I picked a great day where the lighting was perfect for an architecture shoot. I planned for where the light hit the building and built my images according to that. I feel that lighting played a huge role in the success of this series.
I'm glad I ran into the problem with lighting, as it taught me the importance of lighting and planning, which is something I'll think about every time I start a new project as it is so vital to the final images.
During the project, I was very disciplined as I used every opportunity to learn and develop skills, and I was also very critical of my images so that I could get the very best images I could out of this project.
If I were to do this project again, I would definitely like to experiment with long exposures. I have an ND filter now for my new camera and wish I had it for this project. A long exposure wasn't something I even thought about for architecture photography until I had seen Kerstin Arnemann work.

Moving Image Final

I added music, adjustment layers for colour grading, colour correction, text, other effects. I used a lot of key framing which was a great skill to learn through this project. Really enjoyed this one!

Premiere Tutorial

This was a really good tutorial to get the basic of premiere pro from adding effects, cutting, to even colour grading and exporting. Really helped me starting off!
