Types of CSCS Cards | Check What’s New in 2024 —
As of my last update in January 2022, CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) offered various types of cards tailored to different roles and levels of experience within the UK construction industry. However, to get the most accurate and up-to-date information on CSCS card types and any new developments in 2024, it's best to consult the official CSCS website or directly contact CSCS for the latest updates. Here's a general overview of common CSCS card types as of my last update, along with potential changes or additions that could have occurred by 2024:
Green Card:
Designed for individuals working in entry-level positions or undergoing training and apprenticeships.
Requires passing the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment Test.
Blue Card:
Issued to skilled workers who have achieved a recognized level of competence in their specific trade or profession.
Requires relevant qualifications or completion of a relevant apprenticeship program.
Gold Card:
Aimed at experienced workers who have achieved a higher level of competence and expertise in their trade.
Often requires advanced qualifications, significant experience, or completion of a higher-level apprenticeship.
Black Card:
Specifically for managerial or supervisory roles within the construction industry.
Requires relevant managerial qualifications such as NVQ Level 6 or higher.
Red Card:
Typically issued on a temporary basis to workers undergoing training or assessment.
Indicates that the individual is working towards achieving a higher-level card.
White Card:
Intended for individuals who are not directly involved in construction but require access to construction sites for purposes such as delivery or site visits.
Indicates completion of the necessary health and safety training for working safely on construction sites.

CSCS Green Labourer Card
CSCS Green Labourer Card is a basic cscs card (valid for 5 years) that allows individulas an entry level certification to work in manual labour jobs in construction sites, which include most of the groundwork trades (Carpentry, bricklaying ,and tiling). Moreover, it verifies a workers competence and qualification as a skilled labourer. It shows that the card holder is aware of the health and safety regulations. In order to obtain a CSCS Green Labour Card a candidate needs to have two qualifications:
1) CSCS card test, also known as CITB health and safety test, is madatory when applying for green card. The test should be valid and must have been within the two years timeframe when applying for the card. The test which needs to be taken for CSCS green card is health and safety test for OPERATIVES. The test is of 45 minutes and has 50 questions out of which a candidate needs to answer at least 45 correct in order to pass it. Is is a touch screen test and hence it needs to be taken in-person at a local test center. We ensure that the booking of test center, date and time, is done as per candidates preference .
2) Health and Safety Awareness course, also known as level 1 award, is mandatory to apply for a green card. We offer this course in either online or offline mode depending on the candiates choice. If you are attending the course online then there is no time boundation as this can be completed as per the candidates feasablitiy and availability. However, for candidates taking it offline, it has to be completed in a day as the course is carried out with an external instructor. The certificate in both the cases is issued within 7 working days after successful completion of the final assessment. The validity of the course certificate will be for lifetime.
Once the candidate is done with both of the above mentioned qualifications he is good to apply for a green card. However, you do not need to worry if you have already applied a green card with us as will take care of all the process and will make sure that it done smoothly.
