While not one to delve too deeply into the actual handiwork side of a construction business, Nate knows his way around a job site fairly well at this point. Owner and project manager are two titles he's known he would have on his shoulders one day, but what he hadn't expected was to don them so soon and for such a responsible reason. He's not annoyed, per say, when he gets home and finds Maddy asleep on the couch. Growing a human can't be an easy thing on anyone's body, but Nate also isn't good at leaving the job at work when it's been a stressful day and not everything is going according to schedule. Still, he swallows the irritation down and drops to a knee, reaching out to run a large hand over Maddy's belly while he drops a kiss to her cheek.

"Just after 7. I got caught up on a scheduling conflict with some deliveries for tomorrow. Fuckin' manufacturers don't know their ass from a hole in the ground," he grumbles. A short but quick breath is drawn in, then released slowly. "Dinner made or are we orderin' in?"

Pending motherhood is treating Maddy actually very well. She's motivated during the day, mostly cleaning, organizing or putting her mind hard at work over the sewing machine constantly creating. Months prior, she'd been so excited for the prospect to travel to New York, to foster a new beginning. Once upon a time, Madeleine would've been ecstatic to simply be arm candy to some rich sweetheart. Now, she finds herself pondering on whether or not she will actually make a fit mother. Her mind never shuts off, and it frustrates her to the point of tears, saved for when Nate is at work. He doesn't need to see her this way. Only, today, Maddy has found herself asleep on their couch upon his arrival. She stirs only when she feels a shift in energy, possibly his touch to her temple.

"...Mm?? Hey..." she speaks softly, groggy, adjusting to sit up. "You're home...what time is it?" She prays to God that he's not expecting dinner on the table or some bullshit, though he's not above pulling the male power card.
