Conclusion/Summary
The overall module of Convergent Media was a concept I had never come across and had difficulty understanding. Despite this, I am happy with how we approached it and the final outcome.
As a group, I believe we worked effectively and shared roles fairly and well which lead to no issues within the team itself. Most of the issues lied in the development of the project but we overcame them and addressed them appropriately.
There are many things I wish we had done better such as using the space more efficiently. As it is a 360 video, I think we failed to create something to actually explore. For example, the audition scene. We were all at the front of the camera rather than scattered around which would have given our audience more to look at. Instead, if they turned behind them, all they would see is a wall. We could have had one person on each side of the actress so there was always someone to see when wandering.
We took advantage of time, we had a while to complete this project and unknowingly used majority of it developing ideas, therefore giving us less time for the actual development of the production.
A real let down was the failure to create the ‘one take’ film. Although all footage was filmed in one take, when it came to editing, it was just too long and cuts HAD to be made. I believe this to ruin the overall atmosphere of the film, reducing the suspense. However, the cuts helped it look more like a proper film, slowly luring our audience into the plot twist.
Overall, I found the project very inventive and fun. A lot went right more than what went wrong and buying the 360 camera benefited our project GREATLY. As an editor, editing 360 was new and I learned a lot from the process of trial and error. I had to carefully considered the frequency of cuts and transitions as I knew every aspect of the frame would not go unseen. I would definitely consider making and editing more 360 films in the future.

Social Media
We wanted our friends and family to watch our film and help disseminate it across media platforms so we could get feedback and support. We created social medias for our film to make it more known and discoverable.

The footage was difficult to edit at first, considering it all looked like this.
I eventually got used to it and it developed my skills in a sense, I edited with observance in mind and I edited accurately as I knew that any mistake would be noticeable.

5:44:10 was the duration of only the END clip. This was way too long so we had to cut it down.

One Take ?
We planned to edit the video together as one take, however, Jason talks too much in the videos so we had no choice but to cut parts of the video to avoid it reaching 15mins long.
Lucas and I agreed on having cuts and transitions in the first half but then reducing them or not having any when it gets intense in the studio.
I created this (kind of) unnoticeable transition/cut between entering each room:

Choosing Clips
I copied all clips to my hard drive and renamed the ones that were useable with ‘YES’:
Tumblr media
I then converted them on the Ricoh Theta app and put them in the Final Cut Pro timeline in order.

I found other videos and sites to help me with the process.  http://alex4d.com/notes/item/exploring-360-video-with-fcpx
As Final Cut Pro was going to be my main editing software, I searched tutorials based around that.

EDITING AND UPLOAD
Editing 360 video is something I have never done before, I was completely new to the idea so I set out to look for all the help I could online. Once I found the information I needed, it was quite simple.
This: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6178631?hl=en-GB taught me everything I needed to know about uploading.
I had to download a Metadata tool in order for it to be displayed as 360 on YouTube.

DAY 2 FILMING
The University of Westminster Harrow Campus HA1 3YU
Studio 5.
Tumblr media
We all arrived at 10:30am and set up all the equipment in the studio. We arranged them all in such a way that it looked packed and professional.
Filming was completed by 2:45pm, it went well.
We had 3 extras, Paige, Bennie and my friend Kiran. They all helped make the set look more populated.
Issues encountered: - Lack of consistency. Obviously we all had to look the same as the day of our first shoot however, my hair was different, Lucas had a haircut and Jason was wearing a different shade of grey. Other consistency issues was our extras, we had an extra who had to leave early so we had to rearrange the shoot so someone could fill his set role.
- The lack of space didn’t allow us to explore the 360 concept more. We were all bunched up and it was too late to fix it.

DAY 1 FILMING
The University of Westminster Regent Campus W1B 2HW
We got a nice room for filming, we pushed all the tables and chairs back, except one row and set up all the equipment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adam arrived on time at 1:45pm.
Issues encountered:  - Just our luck, majority of the tube lines we needed had delays and we were half an hour later than the time we had originally planned.
- We initially wanted to start the scene off from the reception area of the campus, but we were told we were not allowed to film for security reasons and if we really wanted to, we had to contact someone via email. Due to lack of time, we made the decision to start off the scene in the hallway by the lifts. This worked a lot better.
- In the lifts, we had issues with other people staring at Julia and the camera as she did look rather bizarre. This ruined the professionalism of the film and we had to restart the scene each time as we’re sticking to our ‘one take film’ concept.
- We restarted the scene numerous times which wasted quite a lot of time too.

Agent: Adam Gary
I got Adam to play the agent in our film. He used to teach me martial arts as a child and moved on to become an actor, starring in The Monuments Men, Downton Abbey and more.

Issues...
We had quite a few issues with room bookings, filming cancelations due to Easter approaching, actors etc...
We wanted the TV studio as it looks professional and therefore would have made the film more realistic. We couldn’t get it in the end:
Tumblr media
Due to this, we also had to change filming days that complicated things with actors..
