ok so OBVIOUSLY we know that Jax was lying through his back teeth when he said that he doesn't care about the others and that he gets enjoyment out if torturing them. like, duh. big fat liar. he DOES actually care in his owm fucked up way. this IS him caring. but one way that Pomni could have immediately called bullshit on it was when she threw out the accusation that he was the cause of previous abstractions. if he GENUINELY derived pleasure from tormenting the circus members, he would be fucking tickled over the idea that he might be the cause over their abstraction. he wouldn't be so quick to deny it's possibility and he certainly wouldn't be angry about the accusation.

also that comment he made about not being a "misunderstood little chicken fetus in an egg that needs to be cracked open". well of course he's not. that would imply vulnerability and the potential for growth. both of which he is not willing to accept about himself.

anyway. brilliantly written character and i hate his weasely perfidious guts.
