Ranking of the 15 worst Mavericks starters of the Dirk Nowitzki era
New Post has been published on https://bestcustomjerseys.com/ranking-of-the-15-worst-mavericks-starters-of-the-dirk-nowitzki-era/
Ranking of the 15 worst Mavericks starters of the Dirk Nowitzki era
The Dallas Mavericks had Dirk Nowitzki in the running in the 1998 draft, but no one expected him to be an all-time great. He wrestled as a rookie before producing two decades of dominance. Dirk was special. He never left the Mavs to chase a ring and his determination to bring a championship to Dallas was unmatched. Nowitzki made it happen in 2011 and established himself as one of the all-time greats.
There have been many opportunities to celebrate Dirk since his retirement. Street naming, jersey retirement, statue unveiling and Hall of Fame inductions were opportunities to show Nowitzki lots of love, but they’re never enough. Dirk is the Mavericks and will always be the GOAT of him.
During Nowitzki’s 21 years with the franchise, there were many regrettable decisions. From striking out in free agency to failed roster moves, the Mavs have always tried to build a contender around their superstar. It didn’t always work, which caused some unwanted startups. With 20 matches started as the yardstick, who was the worst under Dirk?
15.Erick Dampier
The Mavs handed Dampier one of the worst contracts in NBA history in 2004 when he signed a $73 million, seven-year contract. The 10th overall pick in 1996 was coming off a breakout year with the Warriors, where he averaged 12.3 points, 12.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 32.5 minutes per game. Dallas needed a starting center alongside Dirk Nowitzki and jumped at the opportunity to sign Dampier.
The 6-foot-11 big man never replicated his Golden State game. During his six seasons in Dallas, Dampier averaged 6.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 24.4 minutes per game. He never lived up to his huge contract, despite being a consistent starter. The Mavs traded him for Tyson Chandler in 2010, which was a key move in his 2011 title run.
Erick Dampier left a lot to be desired as the Dallas Mavericks’ starting center, earning him a spot as one of the worst in the Dirk Nowitzki era. He was a strong rebounder, blocker and rim protector, but the Mavs needed him to be a double-double machine to live up to his contract.

Which team will enjoy the biggest change?
While the Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their second Super Bowl victory in four years, there is a bevy of NFL teams looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 campaign.
Six teams finished with five or fewer wins last season: the Colts, Texans, Broncos, Bears, Rams and Cardinals. Nine other teams joined them in finishing with records below .500: Patriots, Jets, Browns, Titans, Raiders, Packers, Panthers, Saints and Falcons.
With the start of the 2023 NFL season just around the corner, we ask ourselves the question:
Which NFL team will enjoy the biggest change in 2023?

Ronald Acuña Jr. goes deep again against Dodgers in Braves' 90th win
Associated PressSeptember 3, 2023, 12:40 a.m. ET4 minute read
Ronald Acuña Jr. hits the hardest home run of 2023 so far
Ronald Acuña Jr. hits this home run at 121.2 MPH early on to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
LOS ANGELES — Ronald Acuna Jr. homered for the third straight night at Dodger Stadium, and Orlando Arcia hit a three-run homer in the tenth inning that sent the Atlanta Braves to a 4-2 victory over Los Angeles on Saturday.
Acuna’s 454-foot drive to center field rocketed off his bat at a staggering 121.2 mph, the most-hit ball in the majors this year.
“I never imagined that this was going to be the exit velocity,” Acuña said through an interpreter. “But yeah, I hit him hard.”
Bryce Elder pitched six effective innings and the Braves (90-45) won their sixth straight game, becoming the first major league club to reach 90 wins this season.
Atlanta will try to sweep four games on Sunday in this highly anticipated matchup between the top two teams in the National League.
Married north to Los Angeles before Thursday’s game, Acuña once again outshone Dodgers star Mookie Betts in his National League MVP quest.
With one out in the third inning, Acuña pitched a spectacular drive that gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead. It was the 32nd home run this year and the third in the series (including a grand slam) for Acuña, the first player in major league history with 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases in a season.
It was also the third-hardest home run and sixth-hardest home run in the majors since Statcast began tracking it in 2015.
Acuña’s teammates joked with him on the bench about his power.
“They asked me if that was all I had and I said, ‘I think so,'” Acuña said.
Los Angeles tied it 1-1 in the bottom half of the third when Austin Barnes doubled on his bobblehead night and scored on Will Smith’s double-play groundout.
It stayed that way until the tenth, when Sean Murphy drew a two-out walk from Alex Vesia (0-5) to put on two runners. Arcia drove the next pitch to left center field to give Atlanta a 4-1 lead.
“I feel like I always go out and focus on every at-bat. And in those situations, I do everything I can to help the team win,” Arcia said through an interpreter.
When asked what he thought of Acuña’s home run, no translation was needed.
“Unbelievable,” Arcia said.
Raisel Iglesias allowed a sacrifice fly to Max Muncy in the bottom half before finishing for his 28th save. Michael Tonkin (6-2) pitched a no-hitter for the win.
“You can’t get too much out of this,” Muncy said. “If we play them in the postseason, it’s going to be completely different games. I think we’ve shown that in the past a few times against teams we’ve played with. It’s an exciting series right now. I know it’s a lot of fun.” “For people to see, but at the end of the day, it won’t be the same if it’s in the playoffs.”
Betts went 0-for-4 with a walk and scored once. He struck out three times, even with the bases loaded in the fourth when he went down looking.
Los Angeles starter Emmet Sheehan allowed one run in four innings.
Elder walked four and struck out four for the Braves, who have won 20 of 25 overall. The NL East-leading NL West lead the NL West-leading Dodgers (83-52) by seven games for the league’s best record.
“I thought my stuff was better than it had been in the last two weeks,” Elder said. “I got a little wild, but I was able to work some things out. I’d like to limit some walking there. But I gave ourselves a chance. That’s all I’m trying to do.”
The Braves have won at least 90 games in four of the past five full seasons, not counting the pandemic-shortened 60-game regular season in 2020.
“That’s how we continue to play very good baseball all year,” Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said. “It’s been a solid year. Our mission isn’t over. I’m proud of the guys for how they play every day and how they prepare and the consistency in their work and energy and everything they do. I haven’t accomplished anything yet.” .

You can’t win the Heisman Trophy in Week 1, but don’t tell Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. Buffaloes two-way receiver/corner Travis Hunter put on an absolute show to open the season and Coach Prime was not shy about pointing it out.
Hunter finished the game with 11 receptions, 119 yards, three tackles, and one interception as a starter on both offense and defense. Hunter’s Heisman odds have immediately become something to watch. Going into the game, Hunter was around +7500 on Action Network consensus odds and hit +25000 on Bet365. After his performance, the odds on him go from +10000 in FanDuel to +4000 in DraftKings.
Hunter isn’t the only player who had an outstanding game for Colorado. Shedeur Sanders set a school record with 510 passing yards and threw for four touchdowns in his Colorado debut. Sanders’ odds of winning the Heisman are also +4,000 in DraftKings and +15,000 in FanDuel.
The Buffaloes earned a total of 3.5 wins entering Sanders’ first season as head coach and already have one on the board after a big upset over 17th-ranked TCU on Saturday as 21-point underdogs. According to Action Network betting data, more than 71% of the money wagered on the spread was held by TCU.
Colorado takes on Nebraska next Saturday, which will hopefully end up being another exciting episode of the Travis Hunter show.

Novak Djokovic after his straight-set return: 'I think the message is sent' | ATP Tour

Novak Djokovic after his straight-set return: 'I think the message is sent' | ATP Tour
Novak Djokovic reacted to his five-set US Open victory in the early hours of Saturday morning against fellow Serb Laslo Djere with mixed emotions.
“Of course, winning a game is always better than losing it. It’s as simple as that,” Djokovic said. “I think it sends the message to the rest of the field that obviously I can still play five sets tonight. Coming from two sets down always sends a strong message to future opponents.
“At the same time, to be honest, I don’t really want to be in this position. I prefer to win in straight sets. Hopefully I can return to that court in the next game.
It may also interest you: Djokovic recovers a two-set deficit and beats Djere at the US Open
There is good news for Djokovic, who will next face Croatian qualifier Borna Gojo. In four of the Grand Slam tournaments in which he came back from two sets down, he lifted the trophy. He accomplished the feat at the 2011 US Open, 2015 Wimbledon, 2021 Roland Garros (two straight-set comebacks) and 2022 Wimbledon.
His 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Djere was the eighth straight-set comeback of his career. But despite all his experience, being that low is never a good feeling.
“I’m not sure I have a mental advantage with two sets down. Maybe when I won the third, I felt like maybe I was back in the match, kind of caught it, if I may say so,” Djokovic said. “But he was fighting. He remained calm and collected. He didn’t show too many emotions in a way. I would say he didn’t lose it somehow. He was just very consistent.
“I feel like I raised my level and read his game a little better in the third, fourth and fifth than in the first two sets. I think I served well when I needed it, especially in the fifth. It was just a pause. He had a break point to turn the game around. It was a stressful last game, so it’s a huge relief to get this one.”

* Won title Djokovic had high praise for his opponent, Djere, who was attempting to reach the fourth round at a major for the first time. But the three-time US Open champion also took some of the blame.
“To be honest, he could and should have played better, at a high level in these two sets, but I give him a lot of credit for making me uncomfortable on the court and really playing some of the best tennis I’ve ever seen him play. Djokovic said. “Congratulations to him. Bad luck for him. I told him on the net that he should keep going because if he keeps playing this way, he’s only going to move up the rankings.
“He’s a fantastic guy, he works very hard. Tonight he proves that he deserves to be ranked much higher than he is.”

Heaven32 Poor Stuff Review
New Post has been published on https://bestcustomjerseys.com/heaven32-poor-stuff-review/
Heaven32 Poor Stuff Review

Poor Things opens in theaters on December 8. This review is based on a screening at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival.
poor things – of the favorite director Yorgos Lanthimos – is a fascinating adaptation of Scottish writer Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel, which echoes and builds on Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” through a modern philosophical lens. The book is a mosaic account of events from multiple points of view (it is itself a Frankenstein’s monster), but the film unravels and simplifies their competing perspectives. Creating a linear adaptation, Lanthimos and writer Tony McNamara create the most tongue-in-cheek and funniest comedy of the year, filled with captivating set designs, an all-star cast, and much more on the mind than your typical Frankenstein retread.
It is a delightfully perverse piece of work. Which is to say: Poor Things revels in the bizarre scientific perversions of its characters, set in anachronistic, retrofuture Georgian England. The story centers on the resurrected Frankenstein-esque Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a grown woman who, for reasons initially hidden, has the abilities, temperament, vocabulary and unbalanced swagger of a young child. Yet she peppers her broken English with the complex scientific jargon she learns from her creator, scientist and surgeon Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), a man in equal parts kind and fearsome, who digests her food. through fun biomechanical techniques. Burp Bubbles” and keeps various animal hybrids around the house (such as a pig-headed chicken or a swan-headed dog). In Gray’s novel, Godwin certainly has these hints of mad scientist Victor Frankenstein, and it’s even hinted that he himself is some sort of surgical creation, but the movie is more open about his origins. Without explicitly labeling it as such, it makes numerous gestures towards the fact that Godwin, whose face is heavily scarred in a grid pattern, is, in fact, Frankenstein’s monster, making the film Poor Man a loose sequel to the novel. Shelley’s gothic.
gallery of poor things

More than an actual sequel, however, its status as a pseudo-sequel is a framework for understanding the film, as well as the story behind it, including Shelley’s own story. But before delving into literary self-reflection, it spends the first hour of its 140 minutes in darkly satirical territory, allowing Stone the chance to cut loose and create a truly gonzo performance that surprisingly matures before our eyes as it unfolds. Bella learns the ways of the world. Unlike in the book, Godwin’s relationship with Bella is strictly paternal, and McNamara also creates an intriguing supporting character in the form of the gentle Max McCandles (Rami Yousef), Godwin’s diligent student, who is tasked with watching Bella and record your progress. during which he develops feelings for her.
Here comes the first and most obvious of Poor Things’ perversions. It never establishes how long Bell has been in this regressed state, or how far she’s actually developed by the time we meet her. So when romance is introduced into the equation—courtesy of both McCandles and the comically suave and rabidly jealous attorney Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo)—an unease begins to linger around questions of autonomy and consent, and the degree to which Bella she’s in charge of her own faculties (although there’s no doubt she loves sex the moment she discovers it; numerous extreme close-ups of her quivering lips during orgasm confirm this). Yet these are also questions that Lanthimos ultimately incorporates into the film, framed not as a perversion of the story, but of the desires of the men within it. In addition to clues to Bella’s past (of which she is unaware), her relationships with Godwin, McCandles, and Wedderburn are defined not only by love, but also by control: two forces that exist side by side. and they become inextricably entangled, forcing Bella to rethink her worldview.
What makes The Poor Stuff so impactful, despite its toughness at its core, is Stone’s offbeat performance, at first as an overgrown baby, and then as an unfiltered woman whose frank thinking and logistic does not bother. only the men around her, but “polite society” in general. While there is certainly no real-world equivalent to describe Bella (the process by which she was born is pure scientific fantasy), it’s hard not to find hints of reality in the way Stone interprets her, weaving her every word together. and remarks with a cutting (if naive) frankness.
Her sexual development begins as curious, childlike experimentation on herself and eventually blossoms into passionate encounters with other people (what she calls “leaping rages”). She is a metaphorical representation of adolescence, portrayed with an unflinching look at each passionate moment of physical ecstasy. It is, in many ways, a twisted, passionately carnal companion piece to Barbie (or the Mattel blockbuster seen through a funhouse mirror). Meanwhile, Bella’s intellectual and philosophical development, during which she absorbs the weight of the world’s problems and learns to channel her anger and helplessness, feels like the emotional hurdles of a twenty-something-year-old still finding her way and shape. his rebellious vision of the world. Unfortunately, this also creates a much bleaker back half that runs a bit before honing her final point on restrictive cycles of abuse.
Stone’s offbeat performance turns Poor Things into a knee-slamming player.
While there is a timeline for Bella’s physical and emotional changes, they intentionally lack an exact time period, so their meaning ends up being more symbolic than realistic. This helps Poor Things to avoid the thornier implications of its premise regarding Bella’s age, while also depicting, in the abstract, myriad transformations over a lifetime and the arbitrary ways in which relationships are set. rules of society, especially for women. These rules quickly break down the more Bella explores the world and unleashes her impulses, following any and all instincts toward boisterous conversation or uninhibited movement. (If you expect Poor Things to have as wildly entertaining a dance sequence as that of the favorite, You’re lucky).
The film’s quirky energy is matched by Jerskin Fendrix’s idiosyncratic and off-kilter music, which reads like the creepiest of Mica Levi’s compositions (Under the skin) had been extended in different keys, or remixed in a ends. Lanthimos and cinematographer Robbie Ryan complement Stone’s eccentricity with wide lenses that border on fisheye, presenting us with scenes as if we were looking at them through peepholes and distorting spaces and faces alike in caricatured fashion. Poor Things is profoundly ridiculous, but there is also a strange wonder in it. While her opening scenes are in black and white, her transition to color, as Bella explores her surroundings, produces a saturated, Jules Verne-inspired world that feels huge. It is as if she is presented through the eyes of a child every time the camera dances in space. However, the film’s sense of innocence is quickly lost, not because of its unapologetic sexual energy, but rather through revelations about Bella’s origins that bring to light the novel’s themes, as well as Frankenstein. Shelly’s original.
The poor and Frankenstein

Frankenstein (whose full title is Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus) is widely known for dealing with scientific hubris. But what is often overlooked in modern analyzes is that the horrors of it are rooted in what Shelley probably perceived as perversions of creation and birth – or possibly, that creation and birth were perversions themselves. themselves. She was pregnant twice while writing much of the book and had previously suffered a tragic stillbirth, which may have informed her fantasy of a scientist bringing a corpse to life. In addition, her own mother had also died shortly after giving birth. The last letter he received from her referred to the unborn Shelley as an “animal”, whom he loathed, before abandoning her in death, in the same way that Victor Frankenstein abandons her “monster” of hers. These ideas (and the fact that Shelley’s maiden name was Godwin) come up in numerous ways in Poor Things, some of which are best left intact, but all of which can be traced back to Shelley’s novel and the circumstances of its writing. Godwin is also nicknamed “God” for much of the film, magnifying the duel of arrogance and compassion at the core of the character, as someone who loves and manipulates his strange creations.
Lanthimos, by bringing his signature “greek strange wave“The surrealism of such an enormous canvas gives Hollywood comedy a shot in the arm, with lavish decor, lavish sci-fi sets, and ludicrous dialogue whose careful pacing and intonation have you leaning forward in anticipation of every exchange and punchline. The entire cast is charming, from Ruffalo’s unassuming take on masculine bravado, to the way Dafoe quietly thrills behind his prosthetic Habsburg jaw, and Stone’s wide-eyed, insatiable curiosity about all forms. of pleasure and stimulation. It is a film that breaks down human impulses into their most basic principles and reconstructs them in an astonishingly hilarious way, depicting what it would really be like to live shamelessly and how liberating it feels.

Myles Turner: "I really strive to be a 50/40/90 guy"
Turner joined hosts Alex Golden and Michael Facci on the Set The Pace podcast and discussed his desire to improve his efficiency in the upcoming season. Last year, his true shooting percentage of 65.1% ranked 16th in the entire NBA. But the veteran center believes he can be better. “Working on multiple things. Obviously I keep improving my shot. Put my numbers up there. I really strive to be a 50/40/90 guy,” Turner said when asked what he’s working on during the offseason. “I think it’s possible…a lofty goal, but it’s something I know I’m capable of.” Source: Sports Illustrated

Rudy Gobert reveals the big difference between the NBA and FIBA game
Whenever the FIBA World Cup comes around, there is always a debate between the differences between his game and the game in the NBA. While they still play the same sport, there are many differences in the rules that make a major difference. In particular, there is a big difference between the defense in both leagues. It’s subtle, but it’s definitely there. Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert, who plays for France, spoke about the differences, according to Basket News.
“In the FIBA game, you have to think even more, look around you more,” observed Rudy Gobert. “In the NBA sometimes you don’t have to think so much because there is more space. Here you cannot succeed without a minimum of thought. There aren’t three defensive seconds, but it’s still harder to score in a FIBA game.”
Well, that’s an interesting take. The lack of three defensive seconds in the FIBA game allows centers and big men to park themselves in the paint. Gobert is definitely one of the biggest benefactors of this rule. The Timberwolves center is the best rim protector in the NBA and the length of him is used to the maximum in the FIBA game. However, FIBA offenses also tend to incorporate more movement rather than isolation like the NBA.
For our discussion on who is better between Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic, listen below:
France’s trip to the FIBA World Cup is arguably the biggest story. They were one of the favorites to win it all, especially with the Timberwolves star in tow. However, Gobert and co. it became one of the biggest disappointments of the tournament. They were rocked by Canada in their opening game of the tournament, before losing to Latvia and being knocked out of the tournament. They still qualify for the Olympics by hosting it, but it’s still hugely disappointing to see the Euro powerhouse not even qualify for the second round.
France at least bounced back by beating their last three opponents. Still, given the expectations that were delivered to them (and Gobert’s partner on the Timberwolves, who is sweeping the Dominican Republic), it has to be a huge disappointment. Other French players were even quoted as saying they were afraid to go home.
“I have never been ashamed of this jersey, but this is the first time I am ashamed. I’m afraid to go home because we let a lot of people down. Many people believed in us to do something special. We didn’t,” Batum shared, according to EuroHoops.

Projecting Miami Dolphins depth chart after roster updates
The Miami Dolphins have officially reunited their 53-man regular-season roster, and even after that they’ve moved players to injured reserve and signed more.
With that, Miami hasn’t released an official depth chart for the new year since preseason, and we probably won’t see one until right before the season opener.

For now, we’ll try to project what the depth chart might look like for the Aqua and Orange when they take the field against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Sunderland 5-0 Southampton: Black Cats defeat in-form Saints to claim their second win

Sunderland 5-0 Southampton: Black Cats defeat in-form Saints to claim their second win

Jack Clarke’s first goal was timed at 52 seconds for Sunderland.
Sunderland defeated in-form Southampton to start their championship season in emphatic fashion at a raucous Stadium of Light.
The Saints had won three and drawn one of their first four games, but never quite recovered once Jack Clarke ducked to head the home team in the first minute off Trai Hume’s beautiful cross.
The lead was doubled six minutes later when Pierre Ekwah received a pass on the edge of the box, was not blocked and fired a low shot that Flynn Downes deflected past Gavin Bazunu.
Ekwah scored the Black Cats’ third just before half-time, cutting off a Mason Holgate pass and firing a shot past Bazunu at his near post.
Bradley Dack put the game out of doubt when he slotted in Abdoullah Ba’s cross from close range just after half-time.
Teenager Chris Rigg capped a dominant second league win of the season with a genius header in stoppage time, dispatching a taunting cross from Jewison Bennette with ease.
Southampton only managed to upset goalkeeper Anthony Patterson on limited occasions, with Holgate and Sekou Mara deflected on two of their best chances.
The Saints’ inability to defeat the Wearsiders left boss Russell Martin frustrated, often with his head in his hands, as the hosts cruised to a comfortable victory..
Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray has spoken of his desire to sign a striker. with Ross Stewart coincidentally now a Southampton player, but his team proved they could manage without the Scotsman after a clinical display.
Jack Clarke’s constant probing, Abdoullah Ba’s runs to stretch the defense and Dack’s tenderness around the box gave Mowbray’s team a different dimension, while Ekwah’s eye for goal is a welcome addition to their ability. to command the midfield.
By contrast, Southampton have a wealth of surprising talent to add to Stewart’s arrival once he is fit, with the billionaire signings of Adam Armstrong and Che Adams in the squad.
However, they lacked the midfield control to utilize their attacking talents and defensively appeared shaky against a succession of clever crosses from the hosts.
Tony Mowbray, Sunderland boss:
“The result is important for the team and the spirit.
“It’s been a tough week in preparation, in terms of speculation about many of our players. Yesterday in training there were rumors that certain clubs were eyeing certain players and this disturbs young footballers.
“I can see them talking to each other and yet they were very professional today. We all turned up and did what we hoped we could do.”
“I’m happy for the day and happy for the fans. On paper this is a really tough game. I looked at their squad at the back of the program and saw name after name after name of really experienced, high-quality footballers.”
Russell Martin, Southampton manager:
“I’m so sorry for the fans that came out, they were amazing until the end and we have to make sure that this is the toughest day we’ve ever had and we have to learn from it.
“All we talk about is getting off to a good start. It’s a young team at Sunderland and when the wind is in their favor they are very good, but when they get off to a difficult start it can be difficult for them to get the game back.”
“But the game went well for them. They had momentum after the start, brilliant momentum and we didn’t have enough of that.”
“They did everything well, they fought, they came out victorious from duels, they worked very hard, we didn’t, we went into self-preservation mode, which I think is still a hangover from last season.
“It’s the first loss, but the way it happens hurts a lot.”
