mal, do you know where twelve would be now? i feel like being next door neighbors to serif and coming from the same company would be important to note

"MMHH... I THINK... TWELVE WAS WORKING IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT..."

[* MAL squints, making a mental note of how easily TRAJ is swayed by bribery and appeals to his ego.]

"... WHICH MAKES SENSE."

[* There's a note taken on a dirty, stained, crumpled-up scrap of paper in shaky handwriting, shoved between the mattress and the bed frame.]

[* It seems to be a list of names, locations, and objects, some of which you almost recognize, but it's like whoever wrote them couldn't remember them either. The items unconsciously repeat in the list multiple times, with changes and mistakes becoming more egregious the further down the list they go.]

[* By the time you reach the bottom of the paper, the items are completely different from the ones at the top, and barely legible. The words pile on top of each other and blend into a swarming mass.]

[Peek into each room til we see anything out of the ordinary]

[* Each room is empty and uninhabited, with varying degrees of disarray. One of the rooms towards the end, one you recall being shoved into when you first came down here, is the most worse for wear. The walls, floor, and even the ceiling are covered in scratches and scorch-marks. The bed is welded to the floor here.]

[* You could probably look under there, if you really wanted to.]

...So, this company targeted all these different of you two, right? And a few other skeletons, like Kevin? How did Traj get mixed up in all this?

[* MAL blinks, looking a bit puzzled.]

"OH, NO, THEY HAD A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF EMPLOYEES. I SUPPOSE YOU JUST HAD A STRANGE PROBABILITY IN MEETING ALL OF US, AEEHAEH..."

[* It's fairly average, and almost strikingly so. Like the utter approximation of all normal rooms with a single bed in them.]

"OH, THAT'S FINE."

[* MAL steps aside so you can look around in the room.]

[* MAL enters the hallway and counts the doors, eventually leading you to one.]

"AUH, THIS ONE... HERE."

Hey Mal, do you think anything left in these rooms will be missed if we take them?

"HMM... MOST LIKELY NOT. EVERYBODY WHO LIVED IN THEM HAS LONG SINCE LEFT OR MOVED ON FROM HERE."

[* In total, there are sixteen rooms, but only fourteen ever seem to have been used.]

[* Somehow, without any indication or movement, he's standing right next to MAL.]

ah, thanks... do you think you can hold onto them until we're back? everyone's tempted, but we're still... debating whether it'd be our place to look at these. so maybe we– maybe I should wait to ask Serif. and I wanna focus on looking in these rooms right now.

[* MAL nods, tucking away the files.]
