5 Healthy Fruit Smoothies to Make Your Day
Craving for the perfect smoothie - healthy and sinfully delicious? Then I have good news for you: there are a lot of healthy smoothie recipes out there, just waiting to be exploited to their full potential. All you need would be a blender, some liquid (milk or other dairy product, and/or a little water or juice does the trick), and tons of fruits (if you're planning on a smoothie party), and you're well on your way to becoming a smoothie addict.
Not that it's a bad thing, though. Fruits are more fun to take when turned into a smoothie. Take it from me. I have kids who avoid fruits and vegetables like the plague, so I use smoothies to entice them.

So here are some fruit smoothie recipes to try out:
- Mangoes - ripe or not - are a perfect way to start off your morning. Pit 1 ripe mango and remove the peel. Put mango in blender, add one-half cup of milk, 3 tablespoons of vanilla or natural yoghurt and 1 cup of creamy mango yoghurt (all available at your nearest supermarket). Blend and pour into a tall glass (to somewhat achieve that tropical effect). If you need to sweeten it up a bit (especially if the mango you got isn't that ripe yet), you can add a tablespoon or 2 of sugar just to taste.
- Combine a cut-up medium-sized banana, one-half cup of milk, 8 oz. strawberry yoghurt, a tablespoon of sugar (optional), and a dash of nutmeg (for that little "kick"). Blend at medium speed for 30 to 60 seconds or until smooth. This batch usually serves 2, 1 cup each.

- This recipe calls for a fresh combination of watermelon and banana. Combine 2 melons (cubed) and a banana; blend for at least 20 seconds. Add some cranberry juice and a good 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream; blend until smooth. Pour out and enjoy.
- This grape smoothie is so easy to do. In fact, I came home one time to find my eight year old doing it all by herself. Pour 2 cups of grape juice into the blender; add 2 to 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream. You can put in a handful of blueberries if you want. Blend for about 30 seconds. The ice cream should still be a bit thick. Serve immediately.
- Oranges aren't just for orange juice. They're best served as a smoothie, adding a little twist to it. Put 1 banana, 1 peach (halved, pitted and cubed), a cup of raspberries, one-half cup of freshly squeezed orange juice and 3 ice cubes. Blend it until smooth. And, as with all smoothies, serve immediately.
