On this day in 2016, Ready Jet Go! premiered with a special program known as the Ready Jet Go! premiere, an hour long program consisting of the episodes How Come the Moon Has Craters, Backyard Moon Base, How Come the Moon Changes Shape, and Night of a Bazillion Stars. This is why they are the first episodes to be listed on sites like iTunes and Amazon Prime, because they were technically the first to air (I believe the first episode to air by itself was A Kid's Guide to Mars/Jet 2, while the actual first episode in production order, Tour of the Solar System/Jet Cooks Dinner, didn't air until the 17th)

Could Mitchell Peterson solve the Kira case?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just a dumb thought I had - since Mitchell is a detective (well, a wannabe detective), could he solve the Kira case?
Light Yagami is the protagonist and villain of the anime series Death Note. He can kill people using a notebook called the Death Note. Because of his mass killing sprees, he became known internationally as Kira, which means "killer," but no one knows that Light is Kira. Throughout the series, Light plays cat-and-mouse games with detectives who are trying to figure out who is Kira.
So, if Death Note and Ready Jet Go took place in the same universe, could Mitchell find out that Light is Kira?
(For the sake of the argument, let's forget that RJG and DN take place in different countries)
Things to consider:
Mitchell is actually not that good at solving cases on his own. He only solved his cases in episodes like "Detective Mindy" and "Mindy's Mystery" because the other kids helped him. Whenever he tries to figure out if Jet is an alien, he always loses the evidence/no one believes him.
Mitchell is a child, probably around 5-7. Due to RJG, being a kids' show, he mostly focuses on exposing Jet's alien identity and not murder mysteries, which would probably taint his innocence. But given that he is a fan of Sherlock Holmes (see "Jet's First Halloween," "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion," "Sean's Robotic Arm") and has canonically read Treasure Island, a book with murder in it (see "Treasure Map"), he definitely knows what murder is, and would likely be eager to take on such a big and serious case.
Light has no scruples. He will do anything to achieve his goals, purge the world of what he perceives to be "evil," and become the "God of the new world." While he never kills any kids in the series, he would most definitely kill one if they got in his way.
How does the Death Note work? To kill someone, you have to write their full name in the notebook, and if you want, the way they die. Otherwise, they die of a heart attack. The Death Note only works on humans. Mitchell is obviously a human, and he has something of a habit of announcing his full name. Take these choice quotes from Space Camp: "0900 hours. Mitchell Peterson leaving for Space Camp where I will observe Jet Propulsion and record more proof that he is an alien." "1600 hours! Mitchell Peterson reporting to Dr. Chandra."
In conclusion, Mitchell has a very low chance of solving the Kira case (by himself), and could even be killed. But he COULD solve it with the help of Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy - none of whom are at risk because it is doubtful that Light would know their full names, and Jet is not human.

Something I love in the episode “Constellation Prize” is how Dr. Rafferty tells Sean that it’s okay to call her “mom.” Episodes such as “What’s Up With Saturn’s Rings?” and especially “Astronaut Ellen Ochoa” touch upon how Sean wants to be all professional and grow up quickly, even though he’s still only a kid. Hence his always calling his mom “Dr. Rafferty.” Also, in “So Many Moons,” he outright tells Carrot that he calls his mom “Dr. Rafferty” because it sounded “more professional.” However, it’s not just symbolic of Sean’s desire to look grown up, but it also shows that he’s proud of his mom for being a scientist, as he admits in the episode. Eventually, he starts calling her “Dr. Mom.” Awwwww

Jet and Sean in Back to Bortron 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This special had so many Propulsean moments for no reason. There's a lot of tender and important scenes between the two of them. You could even make the argument that their relationship is the core of the movie.
First, Sean doesn't want to go to Bortron 7 at first, but Jet persuades him through the 'power of song.' A little while later, Sean has a 'dream' of sorts where he and Jet sing the most iconic song of the movie - and one of the most iconic songs of the show in general - There's No Planet Like My Planet. It's so nice, that they did a reprise of it at the end of the movie. Everything from the melody, to the lyrics, to the animation in this scene is wonderful.
The color palette in this scene just so happens to look like the bi flag. This is very obviously a deliberate choice. Bortron 7 is red/orange, not pink, and Earth is blue, not purple, but they used those colors anyway.
Tumblr media
Also, before the song starts, the Mothership goes into Interstellar Superdrive, which is rainbow-colored. Coincidence? I think not!
Tumblr media
And the song itself is how Earth is lovely, but Bortron 7 might be nice too, and how they're very different but also similar. This ties into the movie's overall theme about Earth. Despite it taking place on Bortron 7, Jet and the gang have to find a way to save the presentation so the Propulsions can stay on Earth. They decide to make it about how Earth is full of water. So, the song, in addition to being a great Propulsean moment, is thematically relevant.
There are some more Propulsean moments throughout the special, whether they are big, like when Jet and Sean sit alone together in the lake hologram, or small, like when Jet briefly puts his hand on Sean's back when they are visiting Bortron 7's three moons. It just goes to show how strong their relationship is.

Ever wonder about Bortron 7's meaning?
There are 9 planets in the Bortronian solar system, and the Propulsion family comes from the seventh planet, hence why it gets the most focus. The Bortron Solar System Song in Back to Bortron 7 reveals what all the other Bortrons are like
Bortron 1 is smooth as an egg
Bortron 2 is lumpy as a muscle builder’s leg
There’s Bortron 3, the place where down is up
There’s not a drop to drink there, cause it won’t stay in the cup
Bortron 4 is swampy, it’s full of muck and goo
Bortron 5 is not alive, there’s nothing there to do
Bortron 6 is in a fix, it’s hard to grin and bear it
It’s moon has got the hiccups
And there’s no way to repair it
Bortrons 8 and 9 are not mentioned in the song, but they are mentioned in “Visit to Mom’s Office,” where Jet says that Bortron 8 is so boring, and Bortron 9 is freezing.
With all this in mind, Bortron 7 is the ideal planet in the Bortron system. There are no unfavorable qualities to the planet or it’s three moons, and everyone is sweet as cake. In fact, Bortron 7 is described twice (in “My Fair Jet” and “Back to Bortron 7”) to be a slice of Heaven.
7, Heaven. Notice a theme? 7 shows up as a holy number in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam alike. For example, in The Bible and the Torah, it took seven days for God to create earth, and the seventh day is considered holy. In this way, the number 7 symbolizes completion and perfection. That’s what perfectly describes Bortron 7.
Also, as a side note, the plot of Back to Bortron 7 has Sean and Sydney staying with the Propulsions for the weekend while they visit Bortron 7, and they’re to return home on Sunday. Sunday - the holy day.
I’m probably reading too much into the Sunday part, but that’s what this entire blog is about - reading too deep into a cartoon aimed at zygotes

Back to Bortron 7 + WALL-E parallels
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The capital city of Bortron 7 looks very similar to the trash city in the movie WALL-E. According to the Ready Jet Go lore, the Bortronians piled up so much trash, that they buried the planet, and now their houses are "mostly underground." However, they solved their problem by recycling.
"We once built cities till we buried the place Till we finally ran right out of space We never let it get us down Now our houses are mostly underground Once we wasted more than we used Just piling up trash, we were really confused We finally solved it, we didn’t despair We recycled, so you never know it’s there" - That's How We Roll on Bortron 7 song

Thinking about how in “Astronaut Ellen Ochoa,” Sean spent all his time training to become an astronaut and overworking himself…even though he’s only 10. And then Ellen, a real astronaut, shows up and is like “hey kid you got your whole life ahead of you it’s important for you to play and use your imagination.” I think this is so important. I previously talked about how Sean wanted to grow up too quickly in this post but Ellen basically tells him that it’s okay to be a kid. Meeting Ellen definitely changed Sean’s life, as he put it.

Mitchell + his height inconsistencies
I accidentally deleted everything I was gonna write while I was writing it and I'm so mad
Anyway:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes Mitchell is the same height as Mindy, and other times he's way taller than her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mitchell is generally supposed to be shorter than Jet, but he sometimes gets close in height to him.
Tumblr media
"Mindy's Mystery" shows that Mitchell is shorter than Sydney but...
Tumblr media
...he's the same height as her and Sean in "Space Camp."
The Watsonian explanation is that Mitchell suddenly had a huge growth spurt between the end of the show and Space Camp, and is now really tall for his age (which I assume is around Mindy's age, but it's really hard to tell. in the original version of this post I went on a long tangent about Mitchell's age that ended up concluding that he's an iPad kid, but it's gone).
The Doylist explanation is that there are a bajillion different animation studios working on RJG and none of them can agree on how tall Mitchell should be. They could give Tiny Toon Adventures a run for their money. The wiki has a category of the different studios here.
The episodes featured in this post are:
Detective Mindy - Digitales
One Small Step - Giant Wheel/Studio Vsync
Solar System Bake Off - Digitales
Moon Face - Giant Wheel/Studio Vsync/Visual Gate Studios/Enchanting Studio Limited
Mindy's Mystery - Digitales
Space Camp - Giant Wheel

The Great Galacto + tridents
Throughout the movie, Galacto and his items are represented with tridents
Tumblr media
The badge on his chest has a trident on it
Tumblr media
When Jet and the others arrive on Mascarpone, they see a mysterious ship. Jet realizes that the ship belongs to Galacto because it has a trident on it.
Tumblr media
Inside the ship is a logbook belonging to Galacto, which has a trident on the cover.
A trident is a three-pronged spear that is commonly associated with sea gods such as Poseidon and Neptune. The Great Galacto doesn't have anything to do with the sea, as he is a space alien. However, tridents also stand for power. The Great Galacto is a very powerful character, always seeking to do the impossible and be a space hero.

Parallels between the beginning and ending songs in Space Camp
Tumblr media
In the opening song, "Dear Great Galacto," Jet sings about the Great Galacto's "space hero code," which includes, among other things, bravery and toughness.
In the ending song, "Space Hero," Stella sings about how Jet doesn't need to be brave or tough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the start of the movie, Jet wanted to be like the Great Galacto, up to and including doing everything by himself. He saved the day by being Jet. And Jet is great enough.
The imagery in "Space Hero" also reflects that of "Dear Great Galacto," as seen with silhouettes of Jet running on a red background.
Tumblr media
Except this time, he's running on his own. In "Dear Great Galacto," he both chased after and ran away from some alien. You could say that he was chasing after the Great Galacto (the alien is not Galacto, but some random unnamed character). But now, he's running for himself. Because he's just Jet.

Autistic traits in some RJG characters
Jet - stims by marching with his elbows out when he walks, takes things literally, hates ice cream due to sensory issues, very impulsive, is an alien - which is a common way to explaining autism to small children, feeling like an alien from another planet
Sean - huge special interest in space, comfort object is his Neil Armstrong action figure, gets frustrated when things don’t go exactly the way he planned it or he wants it, nervous all the time, displays a lack of interest in pretend play in “Backyard Moon Base,” where he struggles to use his imagination
Sydney - her obsession with Commander Cressida, along with Greek Mythology to a lesser extent, could be read as a special interest
Mitchell - extremely socially awkward, prefers to be alone, special interest in detective work, seems to connect better with his pet dog than with people, takes things literally (in “Detective Mindy,” he thought that the kitchen counter was an actual black hole, but his dad was just using an expression), doesn’t understand jokes (“Jet’s First Halloween”), doesn’t always make eye contact (“Solar System Bake Off,” during the scene where Mitchell said he likes Mindy’s cake), sounds monotonous sometimes (“Eye in the Sky”)
Stella - likes being by herself, obsession with the Great Galacto could be read a special interest, socially awkward (the scene where she bumps into Mitchell is a good example of this), poor social skills in general, quite blunt, impulsive behaviors (when she found out that Jet was the number one Great Galacto fan, her first instinct was to go to earth to try and get rid of him), her saying “excelsior” all the time could be a vocal stim (and since the catchphrase actually came from Galacto, it’s another part of her special interest in him) in fact, she says “excelsior” in the movie way more times than Jet does
EDIT: I forgot to mention that Stella's comfort object is her spaceship thingy. She panics when she sees that it isn't in her bag.
Just thought this was interesting
