A wave of relief washed over Seymour when he saw that the other man seemed to have understood, and believed, what he had said. He watched the stranger bow and introduce himself. Shikishima... Seymour wasn't too confident in his knowledge of foreign languages, but if he was remembering what little he had learned over the course of his life correctly, then he was pretty sure that name sounded distinctly Japanese.

"...Sh...Shi...Shiki...Shikishima...?" he repeated tentatively. He tried to say it the way the other man had said it, but the syllables came out clumsily on his tongue, and a bit of his own American accent inevitably poked through no matter how hard he attempted to replicate the graceful, effortless pronunciation. Still, he was determined to show respect by purposefully working to get it right; he knew he'd appreciate it if others bothered to do the same for him.

He lowered his gaze and murmured the name under his breath a few times, feeling out the way his mouth moved as he said it. "...Shikishima, Shikishima, Shikishima...." He nodded to himself before looking back up at his visitor, trying to make his voice sound confident as he tried again. "...Shikishima..."

Finally satisfied with his own repetition of the man's name, he cleared his throat awkwardly before giving out his own in kind: "...My name is Seymour. Er— Seymour Krelborn?" he bowed his head in a similar fashion as Shikishima had done, although it wasn't as much of a drawn-out gesture when he did it; more of a momentary glance towards the floor than anything. "...It's...nice to meet you...?"
