If Im honest, I have two main images that make me feel for Dawn.

This is Dawn looking at his own image. He doesn’t look angry or hostile here(probably before he was infected) and its very subtle but he looks disappointed. His face here practically says ”So this is all I’ll ever get to be?”

This is him looking at Nightlight’s image. And again, he’s not angry or even hostile here, he’s clearly jealous and from the small white line on the bottom part of their eye looks like they may actually cry. Because to him Dawn is the entertainment, the joke, the laughingstock of everyone else who ultimately means nothing to anyone. Then there’s Nightlight who’s beautiful, benevolent, your kids’ guardian Angel, who you should love and put on a pedestal.

Like how else is he supposed to feel? They literally took him and nightlight and said Nightlight is good and wonderful and a literal Angel! Dawnlight? Oh he’s a silly, hilarious farmer who you can mock all you want because that’s what he’s for. And honestly I understand the resentment, before it got violent, and if I’m being honest with myself afterward too. Do I excuse it? OF COURSE NOT. Do I understand it? I’m trying, which might just be what Dawn needs, I think.

I love it when ppl analyze my drawings. I love reading about the other's perspective!
