you guys don’t even get it. the parallels between darry soda pony and mason tex. the ways they’re different that reflect how their parents were different. the way the curtis boys’ parents were young but they were in love and they were doing it together. the way mason and tex’s mother was a child, the way she was so young both times somebody hurt her—one time blinded by love and the other by spite. and her husband blamed her. and then there are the curtises who are struggling but making it work and they love their kids. they love their kids’ friends who need someone to love them. they love eachother. clare’s husband can’t even love her son. he claims the kid but he can’t love him, and she’s starting to realize maybe he never really loved her either, or even if he did—she’s starting to realize she was just a kid. and maybe compared to her husband she still is, so she wants to go dance, and he won’t, but she’s stubborn. clare was a greaser once and she never outgrew that because she never got a chance to outgrow anything when she was forced to grow up fast. so she walks out without a coat. and darrel curtis and his wife go to get frosting. and so it goes

i think if there was ever a world where darry actually did go soc in high school, then there was a period of time where he called soda and pony by their middle names. not like to their faces or anything i think it was out of embarrassment than anything like

I personally don’t understand the “one-sided” Bryon and Ponyboy beef.

Like Ponyboy stole two of Bryon’s girlfriends?!? Also, he was HEAVILY judging everyone in the Outsiders, and the people he knew best got it the worst,

modern au ponyboy would totally have the worst texting style ever. no caps lock but he uses perfect punctuation. he’ll use “proper” and “js so yk” in the same sentence like it’s no big deal. he will text “ YAYYYYYY” and then the most dry thing ever in the span of 2 seconds. curly has actually threatened to slap him over this. johnny has actually begged him to text normally. ponyboy does not care or listen to either of them
