________________________________________________________________
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - What is/was the most challenging thing in your project?
Sarah Hardy: All project gots loads of challenges. Create an egyptian atmosphere and it’s secrets is a difficult thing but fun to do.
Secret Within: I didn’t start the development on TRLE yet, so there’s gonna be so many other challenges in front of me in the future. For now, desing some new textures for the Project. For exemple: in any official Tomb Raider Game we saw Lara Croft searching for Shangri-la, so there’s not an official “CORE Design Shangri-la” textures. I had to create my own. Taking some textures from some TRGame, mixing with some ideas of mine, changing some details and I’m happy about it.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - Is your game inspired in any Tomb Raider Game made by CORE Design, Crystal Dynamics or Eidos Montréal?
Sarah Hardy: It’s almost like “The Times” remake (CORE Design) with TRAoD theme.
Secret Within: “Tomb Raider: The Breath of Shangri-la” will have the Tomb Raider 1 theme (CORE Design). TR1 Lara, TR1 sounds, TR1 weapons.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - Will be other characters in the main story?
Sarah Hardy: Yes. Lara will have help from old friends and help from someone very special that I still can’t reveal.
Secret Within: Well, Winston will be in the game.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - Will we find Lara’s home / Croft Manor in the game?
Sarah Hardy: Yes! Lara’s home will take a very importante role.
Secret Within: Yes, it’s one of the main levels.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - How many levels your project have?
Sarah Hardy: I can’t say it yet, but the game won’t be short.
Secret Within: There’s about 14 levels.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - How is/was the development of the project?
Sarah Hardy: The project has passed to an upgrade in all the ways! Unfortunately a lot of things still on paper, I’m doing all by myself and is something rather laborious.
Secret Within: The first thing I did is draw all the levels on a squared paper once TRLE works “in squared rooms”, on this way I could create it, erase it when I didn’t like, recreate, could think in puzzles witch depends of the environment itself and simple puzzles like “find a key, find a door, avoid the traps, trigger the trap”. After that, i created a file where i could wrote down the script, the dialogs, the cutscenes and the WAD for each level in order to, once i start the development, I wont fell myself lost; I’ll know what to do.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - Is there a voice actress for Lara Croft?
Sarah Hardy: Yes! I’ll use Jonnel Eliot records for this project.
Secret Within: This is something really important to decide. Once that I’ll create this game in English and Brazilian Portuguese, I need to find two actresses, or two actors who can make a good female voice (laught). Anyway, I didn’t do anything about it yet.
CORE DESIGN 2.0 - Will you create more games in future?
Sarah Hardy: Sure! I’ve already got other projects in mind!
Secret Within: Actually, I’ve already got more then six ideas for six different games. I talked about it with Sarah and my main idea is to create each game with eacth TR theme. “The Breath of Shangri-la” is a TR1 theme, the next one will be a TR2 theme and so it goes. In that way, I’ll face all the development challenges from all Classic Tomb Raider Games. For exemple: in my third Tomb Raider Game, I’ll search for create the TR3 planet, in order to the player choose the next level that he/she wants play (like in TR3, where you can choose Nevada, London or South Pacific Island).
