I finally got some free time to read BOLAS 3 and they're going to keep thrashing Aerin eh? I thought all of this mess was sorted out in Book 2 and the team was at least tolerant towards him?
Tho I'm mostly annoed at MC joining the thrashing. Come on, you declared that you love each other in ch1 so wtf is this shit.
Kinda ruined their relationship for me a little bit ngl. Maybe I should stop at Book 2...? ๐ค

Okay... Can somebody explain one thing to me?
Why yandere girls for male audience look all cute and pretty...

And yandere men, for female audience look like... Uhh... THIS?

BUT, when you actually play theese games, the cute girlies turn out as the most horrifying and crazy human beings you've ever interacted with, and scary guys turn out as actually caring partners, if you ignore their crazy side?

Pixelberry: Removes the option to watch 100 ads to get diamonds, which still made them money and gave people who had to prioritize ,you know rent and groceries, the chance to get premium options without breaking the bank.
Also Pixelberry: Increases the premium options and purposefully shoves their plots behind them.
Pixelberry Again: Charges probably the highest VIP monthly rate out of the interactive story app for just 1 month...
Surprise, It's Pixelberry Again: Uses shitty AI to do most of the work and it's complete garbage
Pixelberry: You know what the problem is? Players re-reading their favorite stories and getting 15 diamonds for completing it. We're going to go ahead and get rid of it after you read it the first time :)
Everyday I am more and more grateful I deleted that app and cancelled my VIP membership for it because jesus FUCK I have never seen an app purposefully self-sabotage and then actively gaslight the players into thinking THEY are the problem.

Malek's kiss scene: A psychological deep dive into his character...
I waste way too much time, thoughts, and dedication on this man so I thought, "why not at least write it down and make it as coherent as I possibly can?" -- (does not guarantee that this will be coherent and understandable...)
Fair warning: A lot of my review is going to be based mostly on how the dialogue was written. Almost very literally, down to the word. If it wasn't written I wouldn't assume too much about the situation, but I do speculate a little bit. Feel free to change my mind, tho.
I noticed two things about his kiss scene:
It was written in his perspective.
It was mostly about Audrey's feelings, not his.
So what does he feel?
I have a working theory that he's on the psychopath spectrum.
At first he tried to pull away, but then he felt something "unfamiliar" as she kissed him, and he stopped struggling. He wanted to stay in that new feeling she gave him.

And he gave in. But despite the scene being written in his perspective, it was generally more descriptive about Audrey during the kiss, not him. It described Audrey's sentimentality. It felt more like an analysis about her and the situation, rather than something that he was feeling in the moment.
And that's the whole scene.
The dialogue feels more like a description of what she's doing and what he recognizes in her emotions as he observes her and feels her kiss. It's more about letting Audrey express herself, while he kind of rides it out.
Before, he told Audrey to experience all her feelings, so it makes sense that he would let her take the reins and do what she wanted.
But does he feel anything? The fact that he's analyzing the feeling of Audrey's skin and her emotions the whole time they're kissing--? I'm not sure.
While they were kissing, there's nothing about what he feels he wants to do. For example, in the way that there's nothing about... his heart starting to beat faster, there's nothing about wanting to pull her closer...
From a psychological perspective, that's weird on its own. He is tied up, but he doesn't... feel or think about reciprocating, in a way? Even if he only thought about it while he was bound. He doesn't even have thoughts to act out. It's just... letting her kiss him. He's just observing her.
And this kiss was instigated by Audrey. So he doesn't kiss her back (maybe out of shock, or the 'letting her express herself' thing), which is understandable. But still he doesn't feel, think about doing anything, even in his POV, even if he is tied up...
Especially the last line. "He felt how easily he could shatter this movement with a word, a move, a thought." That doesn't seem like he's very... in touch with his own emotions? It's in the moment, and he feels it but he's not feeling it. He's looking at it from an outside perspective. He knows he could ruin it. He knows he could ruin her expressing her emotions.
It's like he's a piece of clay that could be molded into whatever she wanted. The keyword here is 'pliantly'.
But what does he think? What does he feel about it?

We never really get a clear answer to his feelings or wants when Audrey asks, because he always pull shit like this and doesn't give a clear answer:
Then, Malek asked her to kiss him again, "looking a little lost"... He got that thoughtful sprite on.

She has two choices: either kiss him gently or passionately. Either way, he reciprocates.
Narrative design included with the ability to choose, it was about observing her, feeling her, and reacting out of that. He would react accordingly to whatever choice she picked. What she wanted, and he simply followed what she was doing.
It's as if he doesn't know what to do, you know?
The next scene is back in her perspective. He's no longer tied, so he does things on his own. He acts upon what he wants to do. But we don't know what he's thinking unlike the first kiss scene.
She can feel that he's probably angry at his emotions and is taking it out on her, but that's just based on how he treats her in the scene.
"Do you hate me because of my feelings for you? Or your own?"
It feels like the dream, you know. When she was imagining him in her bedroom. That wasn't actually him. That was her idealization of him and she visualized him because she had so many questions left unanswered. She answered it herself based on what she thought he would say, but that may not have been what he would've actually said if he was there.
She wanted answers. She visualized him there answering them. When she herself didn't have a possible answer, his imagined self didn't have one either.
Those feelings of anger he was feeling could be about something else. Control, for one. He's slipping. He's been alive for millennia and this is the first time he's losing control. He could be mad about how she gives him a weakness. Because he does actually care about her safety.
But Audrey thinks that it's feelings specifically that he's angry about.
Because in my opinion, if it was in Audrey's perspective, a lot of it is just assuming what he thinks? But if he said it himself, acted it, then it's confirmed. That's the way Elena wrote him... Or maybe that's just the way I see him.
TL;DR:
...Y'all, can you tell I'm trying to push this "high functioning psychopath" theory so bad? Tell it to me straight ๐ญ
He just acts so differently from any LI I've had before. And that's probably because he's based on Hannibal Lecter.
I know that he's Abaddon (a half-breed?) so his actions are supposed to be more symbolic rather than psychological (like how Hannibal in the show isn't really a psychopath? He's supposed to be a devil on earth and doesn't have any grounded psychological explanations for his behavior) but I really hope that Malek's character and the way he displays himself is not just a stylistic choice, but a psychological one. He doesn't act this way just because, and it also affected his ability to have emotional relationships.
I have more factors that add to this theory that I haven't even summarized in this post.
Audrey wrote a psychological profile on him-- where is it? Where the hell is it, Audrey, you're the psychiatrist, the professional. I want to see it.

I WAS RIGHT TO MAKE THAT HADES X PERSEPHONE REFERENCE
DEPTHS OF HELL LET'S GOOOO
Please tell me I'm going insane but what does he mean by this?

When he says, "I'll get you back", does he mean to himself? Or to the agency?
Because his line after, "I'll bring you back as many times as it takes" makes more sense in the latter. It's almost as if he's saying, "you can go back as many times as you want, as long as I have one moment with you." ??
If that's the case-- can he shut up? I swear-- ๐ญ
It's lowkey giving Hades and Persephone, where she has to stay with Hades for half a year and goes back to her mother for the other half-- but instead of it being against her will it's entirely up to Audrey.
This also circles back to his one line at the start where he stated how he didn't want to let her go, "but of course, I'll let you go as many times as you wish."

Or no?
