I drew the can when I was at the Uffizi and gave myself instructions on how to put color on this. Exactly 8 months later I painted it 😅🤣

I used to go through so much peach tea when I lived in Florence, so the taste of it brings me fond memories.

Late post! This April I have had the pleasure in attending this year's Black Women Animate Boot Camp. The last time I attended one was well before the pandemic.

This year it was held at Titmouse in Burbank for two days of workshops, talks, networking, food and fun! I have made friends from various walks of life and at different points in their career, so it was very refreshing. Let's keep working hard together! ✨

LBX Recap

I finally have the time to sit down and reflect on it haha. Last year, I decided to keep this as a one day thing because with work and all.. I only have energy for exactly one (1) day. I'll keep that again for next year for sure

It felt a lot more manageable than last year, the line to get into exhibition hall remained the same but moved easily. The only areas that really bottled up was around studio booths for people to chat up with recruiters. One of my biggest highlights was winning Shrek ears at the DreamWorks booth 💚

I ended my day going to a mixer hosted by Latinx in Animation at King's Row Gastropub. I met up with friends and new faces! There was a Halloween bar crawl around the same time so it was great seeing a Shanks cosplayer on the way out 😅

As of August 1, the Cartoon Network building is emptied -- I must stress this though: the Studio itself is very much alive!! Just in the Warner Bros area, IIRC I think the same building as WBA but I'm not too sure

I have a few memories of this building:

(I just want an excuse to talk about it |D)

Though I haven't been an employee, I have had multiple opportunities to go inside certain places thanks to Women in Animation hosting panels and Black Women Animate hosting a 2 Day Event in collaboration with the studios.

TheAnimationNetwork Podcast was also immensely kind to invite me to a networking event on the patio, which was amazing! I have also had artwork showcased to fundraise for Burbank Healing Arts earlier than that! I even saw that famous staircase with artwork which was fun!

Thanks for the memories CN Building! Sorry I kept getting lost in there, and one of my biggest regret was not to use the legendary pancake maker(?) Maybe in the new building I'll have a pancake? 😅

I'm pleased to announce that one of the indie projects I worked on premiered this month. It was amazing working with everyone and I'm very glad that I saw the final product in full!

It's currently unavailable to view online but here's a small teaser, and one of the BGs I worked on can be seen!

I'm elated to announce that the short film I had recently worked on, Urie, will be premiering at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) on June 2 at the TCL Chinese Theaters in Hollywood! Tickets are available for this and other films.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Anthony and the team, I can't wait to see our hard work come together!

Star Log - Ayy I'm Jobless

Just 2 weeks shy of my 7th year anniversary doing technical illustration and graphic design for a biomed company I have been let go due to company restructuring and stuff. The shock was tremendously bad I ended up texting one of my best friends and he and his amazing spouse kindly took me with them up north.

I feel better now, but I'm now trying to figure out things like getting health insurance. I'm also incredibly ansty but it's mostly because this is my first time being laid off in anything haha.

So there you have it, second week into the new year and I'm out of the job ^__^;; I have been making progress on painting so stay tuned though! I'm looking for BG Paint, Color Design or PA Work in LA if anyone has a lead for me.

Star Log - lol, bye 2022

It was such a busy year, I barely had time to type this up between breaks at my day job.

January 2022, I was offered a BG Artist position for a small production within the first 11 days. Unfortunately, I had to turn it down a while later because while waiting for the call I was offered a Visual Development position that started immediately. I still wish the first production the very best, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I wish I could go a lot more in depth with the project I'm working on. It's incredible how everyone is working hard! 🥰

I've been doing personal art during my breaks just to keep my skills sharp, I want to do a lot more plein air next year tbh. I hope to do studio work in 2023. For now, there is something special for me in September for sure. What is it? Ah, time will tell. 😊
