My favorite Masters from Ever Night, Yan Se and Fuzi. In oe word they were awesome. In a different way but both were kinda interestingly charming. Though I liked Yan Se from the start, from his every action, Fuzi worked slower but by the end yeah found him great too.
For some reason I dated this with September while drew them in May. Had a bit of surprise last week when found it in the folder with this date. Thought something weird happened to my memory.
The light was not very good on the photos so edited single pictures a bit, the whole page as is.

Steve Rogers’. Steve Rogers-es? Steves Rogerses? Two pieces of him with distant resemblance. The first one I like best, the second one looks a bit too...polished? And oh my clucking god hair!!!

Oh, this one I remember. Didn’t want to post it at all but then decided that if I managed a better one I would post this one. Like... To see that there are bad attempts but eventually there are good ones too. (Not after three months of not drawing though. Three months and I didn’t!..) So here it is, a failed attempt. Something unexplainable happened with all the mesurements I think but i couldn’t figure it out on the go and how to make it better after. Nin Que

What do I remember about this one? That the movie was awful. The Destroyer. Sebastian Stan looked really good there but he couldn’t compensate for how little I cared for the main character. Even now I feel slight irritation when I think about her. And given my relationship with drawn hait his cropped head turned out to be a disaster. One of those drawings that look better unfinished.

My... It’s been half a year! Almost. How do people have blogs, I wonder. I constantly forget I try to have it or I remember but don’t feel like making something with it. Noticed a new button, checked it, turns out it’s been here since April. My attention span and emotion span is like something really small.

Dear god! Just saw the poster with Chris Evans for ‘The Gray Man’ (2022). To photoshop his face, his beautiful bones to that degree! What the actual hell, people?! You should be prohibited from using Ps! What... How! Who the hell thinks it is a good work?! Jesus fucking Christ (c) Generation Kill, Sgt. Brad 'Iceman' Colbert

While I’m on the subject of Bob... Not that it has anything to do with Bob, just that it was while I was drawing him that I went on this angry rant about authors in my head again. Of course maybe these are just my personal hang-ups. Maybe even surely. Because people are interested in all those interviews and meetings so they could ask questions. About backgrond things... And characterization. But every time I see an author explaining some detail from their work, even the very insignificant one, I’m like... what the hell do you think you are doing?! So yeah..
I have so many thoughts on Bob, so many impressions and suppositions and when I think about him it is this inner monologue of how and why and what if and then I think but I bet there is a pile of interviews somewhere where the author of the story is explaining them all. And just like that I’m in a fit of... lividness. Because...
It’s not just about the work should speak for itself. Don’t quite like this one. Usually it means that if people didn’t catch on to author’s intention it means he did poor job of bringing it to them. But in fact whatever they caught on to every meaning is valid. What, if an apple is sour-sweet and to some it is mostly sweet and to others it is mostly sour someone is in the wrong here? Once I read a quote by James Hetfield where he said that often when he gets fan mail he is surprised by meanings people hear in his songs. But it doesn’t matter, the songs are there for people to feel whatever they feel. These words ring like truth, like what it should be. And I can’t find it anymore, this quote... But whatever. When I read or watch something I build my personal image of whtever happens there and when authors start explaining what they actually meant they indirectly make my image invalid. Not quite but to some degree because the aothor is the original creator so they have power to er...secure a particular interpretation as the original, the canon. While in fact every work of art is a Schrödinger's cat and the goddamned trap must stay goddamned shut so every possibility stays goddamned valid.
Even in physical world plant breeders don’t get to tell people what their apples taste like. They don’t have power to make this call. The ultimate decision lies in the mouth of a person who eats the apple. But writers who work with fictional somehow get to tell you what this character’s feelings are, what are their reasons and intentions. And this is actually weird and why would so many do it I can’t fathom. Maybe it is all this marketing cilture where authors traipse around the world trying to attract attention and speaking and answering questions and explaining and publishing spin-offs and books about how things work in their world... And they chip away at all these vast possible visions of their world and what for?

Now that was a miserable series of attempts! A series of miserabe attempts? While they were supposed to be quick ones in fact every each one took like two hours or even longer and the end reasults are... Well, not exactly barely recognizable. The last one is recognizable. But the first one and especially the third are of a ‘who are these guys’ quality. And all of them are Bobs. And I maybe like the er..style of the first one, somewhat classical look that. But is it Bob? Hardly... The second one was a huge battle with the nose and mouth... And I dropped it as soon as it started to look human. The third is just no. And only the last is Bob and semi-rightly done. The whole endevour reminds me of this post I have in my likes ‘aggressively tries to get better at art’ only the word was depressingly... Depressingly tries to get better at art. Or even aggressively depressingly tries to get better at art... Yeah

Finally managed some semblance of Venom. Teeth and all... Used human body as base for shoulders but it made me think. Why? While I love better fanart with blob-Venom, this liquid representation of him, I myself don’t know how to do that. I mean I don’t know how to draw something just out of my head, I need base. My brain doesn’t know hot to bring what I imagine into something drawn, into physical form. But people do it all the time and it’s marvelous and... it works. In fanart. But in movie itself it’s not a done deal. Take the first movie. I read than and often see now people complain that final action in the first movie was crap, just two formless somethings messing in the dark. In comparison saw comments about the second movie pointing out that action was better, more distinct. Because there symbiotes were more like human bodies. With tentacles. The way comics does it. I find it kinda... unfair? Because the way they did it in the first movie in fact it was more creative , it was more suiting to what symbiotes are themselves. It shows their alien nature. But er... masses didn’t like it, didn’t appreciated the effort. I don’t know what would be fair here. I like both, the first for unusualness, the second because it was entertaining to watch. I think maybe word as art could be more successful here, writers would write something engaging about flowing ribbons shimmering and strangling and so on and your imagination will create special effects to your liking. Or static-y image like all the fanarts where Venom flows around Eddie and looks alien and interesting and attractive yeah... But in motion picture it didn’t work for a lot of people. Interesting that

I’ll allow myself to post it with special effects. Because it suits to that shot, Bob sitting in church waiting for answers. I was ready not to make this one but kinda managed though hair is the usual mess and no one knows what’s going on in the eyebrow-eye-nose zone. And eyes seem to be of different size but whatever. I love Bob

It’s really buflling how different the results are. What’s more buffling I don’t see the cause-effect realation. Well, beyond obvious bad drawings after long periods of not drawing and different tools different results. Apart from these... Of course it’s maybe still a process, will probably always be the process with the rate I’m going, maybe I will settle with a particular style and er...level of skill. But for now it’s so volatile. Sometimes I even like it because I like the drawings not to look the same but it’s also unpredictable, I literally can’t plan to make my attempt look this or that way, I’m just in for a ride and can get a realistic portrait or like stylized illustration or smash into a tree. And that’s frustrating. Because I can’t assess my whatever it is I’m trying to do here. I like it that’s for sure but what it is it?
So.. where were we? I think Bob

Here it is! This moment when I felt caught by his acting. This subtle shift in expression, when his eyes went from soft to sad, even... to sorrow. It wasn’t only the smile that was hiding in the corners of his mouth and than went away, the eyes look different! Beautiful... Love it. He isn’t good at all emotions, like embarassement and surprise don’t look especially natural in his performance. But rage, all the fine degrees of sadness from soft to heart-wrenching, being deep in thought, stubborn or annoyed. Oh and all these moments when even before he opens his mouth you just know that he is going to be nasty and obnoxious and offensive no matter who he’s talking to - he is just downright genius at that! And very natural. I wonder why is that hehe

Not quite out of the blue actually. I chose Chen Feiyu as a reference for an idea and though I had never seen him his looks and overall impression went so good with it. And I googled his works and decided to watch Ever Night just to make some screenshots and unexpectedly I found myself enjoying it so much! There were three points. First thing that caught my attention was how it was shown that Ning Que had some brains and attitude (when he knew it was the princess and didn’t actually cherish the idea to risk his life while accompanying her to the capital). Second there was this moment when he impressed me with his acting. At this point I was ready to watch the series because of the actor and is character. And then there was this whole Dragon Clan debacle and Andy On made quite an appearance. Around here I started paying attention to the story. And then it was just... oh another cool guy, and another, and a cool old man, and another hehe, and what a beautiful girl, and another *facepalm* and oh look at that scenery! oh these roofs! hm, an interesting idea and another and another... And so on. Great watch.

Out of the blue Ning Que. From Ever Night. I am quite taken with him and well... Oh they were all so charming! The whole series
The first face with another awful H pencil. Can’t manage them at all. Single pics as is, the combined page edited with curves. First time with Asian faces.
