one of the things anti-civ discourse is extremely lacking is the awareness that anti-civ = anti patriarchy = anti cis = anti straight. like did ppl just not understand what freud was saying in “civilization and its discontents”? the whole thing is also a libidinal projection apparatus. which is why it needs to stay fixated on fantastical objects. anyway, most civs arose as a patriarchal usurption of a society worshipping some version of the earth mother goddess. that’s like, a really key context. you can’t talk about, for example, greece and rome without talking about how they structured themselves around patriarchy at a state level. literally that was the libidinal foundation of their societies, and there are plenty of texts that lay this out in detail (aristotle’s politics for example).

these things arent disconnected. truly overthrowing patriarchy means overthrowing civ. truly overthrowing civ means overthrowing cisheteropatriarchy.
