“Stellabrating” a Sustainable Icon: The Falabella Bag, 15 years on
One of Stella McCartney’s most iconic creations, the cult Falabella bag has adorned the shoulders of eco-conscious buyers for 15 years. First released in 2009, the line of Falabella bags was a continuation of Stella McCartney’s eponymous brand’s mission to never use leather, furs, skins or feathers. With this goal, the luxury house set new standards in the industry. Now in its 15th year, the Falabella remains an It-bag investment and an investment in sustainable fashion practices.
Stella McCartney is a responsible label that produces ready-to-wear, bags, accessories and shoes each season. Recognised by its iconic curbed chain and whipstitched trim, the Falabella is the brand’s most popular line of bags. Handcrafted in Italy and over the years adorned with cut-outs, embroidery, quilting and patterned motifs to suit trends and tastes of the time, the Falabella is a Stella icon that has gained the luxury brand global recognition.
Crafted primarily from plant-based materials, its lining is made from ocean plastic, and the chain handles are diamond-cut from recycled brass and recyclable aluminum. Italian artisans' hand-lace the pieces together with organic cotton twine, building each bag with meticulous care. With dedication to material and craftsmanship comes a suite of celebrity and style icons donning the Falabella; from Kate Moss to Anne Hathaway.
In honor of the anniversary, McCartney has launched an exclusive collection of limited-edition Falabella bags. Featuring designs such as cinnamon stick-inspired boho fringe and cracked silver leather paired with a silver chain worthy of a festival, these renditions of the iconic bag are bold statements that maintain the Falabella’s signature top-handle silhouette.

Feminine Freedom at Chloé: Chemena Kamali's debut collection
Tumblr media
Chemena Kamali’s debut collection for Chloé turned heads around the world: from the Instagram stories of front row fashion lovers describing the “quiet romance”, to industry publications Vogue and W Magazine penning the delectable details of Kamali’s debut that will surely go down in history as one of the best. “She didn’t ease into this collection, she marched into it,” Cathy Horyn wrote for The Cut. Kamali called upon the Chloé woman’s spirit of 20 years ago, and wrote in her show notes “I want to feel her presence again; her beat, her natural beauty, her sense of freedom and undone-ness. She is real. She is herself.”
This is Chemena Kamali’s fourth turn at Chloé, following an internship and design assistant role under Pheobe Philo, and later working as a design director under Claire Waight Keller. But it was the Karl Lagerfeld years, the 1960s to 1980s, from which Kamali sought inspiration.
It is very à la mode to focus on archival references, of course with a light hand. Kamali's delicate blousing took center stage, inspired by a moment of the 20th century where boho and rock'n'roll reigned. Transforming feather-light fabrics into cascading ruffles, Kamali created indelibly sensual blouses and outerwear including capes, babydolls and sheer maxis with extra-long sleeves and hemlines that swished effortlessly off the model, tailored, flare-hem trousers or baggy jeans for a contemporary nod, richly textured coats and over the knee boots. The overall impression was romantic and confident, unashamedly feminine and a little sexy, with the aforementioned hip-slung trousers and collarbones peeking through the sheer fabrics.
Kamali brings back the iconic Chloé "It" bags in style, notably reviving the Paraty from Hannah MacGibbon's reign – a trapezoidal satchel with distinctive handles and gold hardware. Recognised as strong sellers for the brand, bags are set to remain a focal point under Kamali's direction. Additional notable accessories that complemented the collection were the gold-tone logo belts spelling out "Chloé" in refined cursive.
This collection heralded a new chapter at Chloé. By seamlessly integrating the brand’s rich heritage with modern styling and design techniques, Kamali garnered enthusiastic applause from the audience. Among them were longstanding Chloé muses such as Jerry Hall and Sienna Miller, adding delightful nods to the brand's illustrious history.
The show served to please the hearts of fashion darlings who could only dream of such a revival. Understandably, the fashion world awaits eagerly Kamali’s next move.

Zadig et Voltaire
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paris-based Zadig et Voltaire was founded in 1997 by current Artistic Director Thierry Gillier. Taking inspiration equally from Parisian chic and a rock ’n’ roll spirit, the brand has made duality its signature, with the brand name a reference to Voltaire’s literary work “Zadig ou la Destinée,” a philosophical story that intertwines enlightenment with rebellion. Freedom fuels creativity at Zadig et Voltaire, and Gillier delivers an aesthetic that is effortlessly cool.
The brand’s pieces are characterised by their luxurious fabrics and relaxed silhouettes, often with joyful details that breathe personality into the design. Some of the signature pieces in their collections include leather jackets, leathergoods and statement cashmere — and it’s Zadig et Voltaire’s cashmere collection that is the perfect representation of the brand’s dualism.
From the juxtaposed aesthetics of graphic patterns woven with softer-than-soft cashmere, or its lightweight knits in melange yarn with details like inside-out seams, the brand’s cashmere has become iconic. Zadig et Voltaire is a go-to label for those who appreciate quiet elegance with a touch of attitude, and each cashmere garment is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a luxurious feel and lasting durability.

Daniel Lee's latest Burberry is a British-Renaissance
Daniel Lee's tenure at Burberry marks a storied chapter in the legacy of the heritage British label, as he’s proven with just four runways to his name.
Appointed as the Chief Creative Officer in late 2022, Lee’s arrival was met with anticipation and intrigue. Known for his contemporary yet reverent approach to heritage brands, Lee was creative director of the Italian luxury fashion house Bottega Veneta from 2018 to 2022, where he was inordinately successful, growing company revenue by 5% during the hardest years of the pandemic and achieving the covetable state of being both cool and commercially viable at once. Lee’s energetic, edgy and tactile vision for Bottega Veneta gained legions of celebrity fans and won over digital audiences with a cleverly expanded range of signature intrecciato bags.
Lee turned the low-key leathergoods brand into a cornerstone of the luxury hype movement. And now having turned his creative vision to Burberry, he once again balances tradition with contemporary, thoughtfully building a design-language that takes recognisable elements of Burberry, of Britishness, and reinvigorates them.
Lee told Vogue that his Burberry would be one that “made sense, not shock or surprise”. The most recent Fall 2024 runway was heavy on heritage and classic Burberry icons. The revival of the Prorsum equestrian knight motif already underway from late 2023, Lee’s latest showing leaned further into the brand's archives and was all about enviably long trenches in olive and grey, leather, moleskin, and wool. Tartans, cosy shearling fits, high-fashion equestrian-isms featured particularly in bags and boots, and contemporary idioms like zippered pants, all featured beautifully. The Prorsum, the B emblem and the Burberry check motif, packed with identity and detail, adorned the show's accessories. The show also focused on low-key elegance and outdoor offerings that define so much of Burberry and today’s demand for quiet luxury. Not to mention the runway-itself as a highly anticipated event, with guests and models referencing British pop culture as a whole. Think Agyness Dean opening and Naomi Campbell closing the show; Iris Law and Georgia May Jagger, daughters of British pop culture royalty, in front row.
Lee has used Britain as a mood board for a desirable and commercial collection, celebrating the brand and the contemporary fashion conversation he’s demanding to be a part of.

GUCCI CRUISE DEBUT: DE SARNO’S DANCE WITH UNCOMPLICATED
Tumblr media
Skewing more minimal, refined and accessible than his predecessor’s ornate creations, Gucci’s newly appointed Creative Director Sabato De Sarno presented his first Cruise collection for the Italian fashion house this week — only his third womenswear show to date.
Cruise 2025 saw De Sarno tap into a metropolitan sensibility, taking inspiration from the show’s London setting. The clothes were wearable, far from the holiday-glamour dressing we often see with Resort collections.
Flowing pussy bow blouses complemented by structured brown jackets, juxtaposed with signature short-shorts; figure-hugging mini dresses paired with spacious shoulder bags in coordinating hues; oversized shirts layered over delicate floral pencil skirts; and peekaboo lace bralettes subtly revealed beneath bibbed tops. There were cheeky odes to classically British style, like tartans and plaids, too.
The uncomplicated assortment has youthful mass appeal. De Sarno wants to dress people who go to work and go on dates. Gucci is smart, sexy and Italian again, and it feels very cool.
“The new Gucci I want”, De Sarno said in an interview with Vogue, “is about ‘freedom and exhilaration — I just want to have fun”.

A luxurious shopping spree is a delight in itself. But when paired with the perks of duty-free, the experience is even more enticing.
Tumblr media
A luxurious shopping spree is a delight in itself. But when paired with the perks of duty-free, the experience is even more enticing. At Cosette, nestled in the heart of The Rocks, Sydney, shoppers are treated to tax and duty-free shopping indulgence.
Duty-free shopping has long been synonymous with luxury, offering travellers and local shoppers alike the opportunity to indulge in premium goods without taxes and duties. Initially introduced at air and seaports to cater to the needs of international travellers, the tradition has evolved since its mid-century inception, with duty-free outlets expanding beyond transportation hubs to encompass retail stores in prime locations like The Rocks.
Today, duty-free shopping is thriving as a cornerstone of luxury retail, and retailers like Cosette offer shoppers a unique opportunity to access exclusive prices on both current and past season bags and accessories.
Tax-Free Bliss
Easily the most enticing benefit of duty-free shopping is the exemption from taxes and duties typically levied on luxury goods. By shopping at off-airport duty-free retail stores like Cosette, customers enjoy significant savings on their coveted designer handbags, accessories, and more.
The cost of luxury items, especially for shoppers just discovering the luxury designer market, understandably, can feel out of reach. Duty-free shopping presents an opportunity to acquire luxury items at prices lower than those found in traditional retail outlets. For the team at Cosette, it’s especially rewarding seeing a shopper’s luxury dreams become far more accessible than before.
Global Selection
Cosette’s duty-free offerings extend beyond borders, providing shoppers with access to an extensive selection of luxury brands from around the world. Luxury leather goods: Australia’s top brands
The market value of luxury leather goods in Australia is forecast to soar to US$3billion by 2028, up nearly 4% from 2024. Clearly, our love of luxury handbags and accessories, and the desire to cherish a collection of your own, isn’t going anywhere. But what brands and bags are tastemakers choosing to own?
Fashion can be cyclical. The allure of luxury bags is often threefold: what’s new (the Bottega Veneta Jodie), what’s classic (the Gucci GG Marmont), and what’s new that’s classic (the Prada Cleo). From brands embracing logomania to the understated elegance of quiet luxury, the definition of what makes a bag coveted, is a dynamic one.
According to data from real estate consultancy Knight Frank, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Dior, and Gucci, continue to perform the strongest in terms of storefronts in Australia.
Driven in part by the growing spending power of Gen Z and Millennial consumers and savvy social media marketing, luxury brands have been propelled into the mainstream, generating interest in investment pieces that transcend trends. As a result, these prestige and longstanding luxury houses have retained their appeal, attracting younger shoppers who are seeking quality, craftsmanship, and luxury in their fashion choices.
These statistics were similarly reported by market data portal Statista, whose 2022/23 analysis found that Louis Vuitton was the most purchased brand in Australia, followed by Chanel, Gucci, Mark Jacobs, and Hermès.
Despite the beauty of a seasonal It-brand, the enduring popularity of heritage-brands, which certainly come with the corresponding price point, reflects a broader cultural shift towards investment-worthy pieces. And unlocking the buying power of the youngest purchasing audiences, Gen Z and Millennial, has made them more desirable than ever before.
Hand-crafted, made with precious or rare materials, designed by practiced artisans — these are the qualities that unite luxury bags. Even those bags that have risen to the kind of imagination-capturing, sartorial fame that makes them almost ubiquitous, haven’t lost their afterglow. From Fendi’s Baguette, to the Saint Laurent Envelope Clutch, to Dior’s Lady Dior, these bags have been fashion ornaments for decades and maintain as both symbols of trends, and the brand themselves.
Trends come and go, but Australia, and every market, proves that luxury lasts forever.

Online Marketplaces and Luxury Brands: The Digital Communication Challenge
“Unlike the fragmented universe of drivers, rental accommodation, beauty products or food delivery, there are not many luxury brands that really matter.”
The Financial Times wrote earlier in the year that the democratic nature of online shopping platforms dilutes the prestige and premium of luxury items. Being able to shop Nike in the same browser you’re shopping Burberry undermines the heritage and value of the brand, they argued.
However, E-commerce platforms have democratised access to luxury goods. And while the traditional understanding of exclusivity and brand experience are challenged, there are ways to ensure the sartorial themes of luxury fashion, namely craftsmanship and affluence, are maintained.
Cosette is an Australian-owned online luxury handbag and accessory retailer that sells from over 20 high-end fashion brands. Like many retailers, Cosette operates an interconnected digital landscape. Website, social media, newsletters, campaign lookbooks, seasonal trends, affiliate marketing and content, as well as the option to shop in store at the Cosette shopfront at The Rocks, defines our presence in industry.
Like luxury brands themselves, Cosette prioritises personalisation and a clearly defined brand experience. With nine years in market, our direct sales have allowed us to gather and utilise customer data to create a curated and in-demand edit of luxury brands. Cosette’s collection feels bespoke, and we are committed to ongoing review and refinement of our buying, so customers can rely on us to offer find them their most-wanted pieces. This level of customisation strengthens our relationship with consumers, and is a standard framework of our online store.
Being selective with the brands we offer, carefully curating our brand image and creating ‘exclusivity’ of our own, results in a customer experience that is communicated precisely as intended.

Cosette: Cire Trudon
Tumblr media
At Cosette, our passion and purpose is to curate a discerning edit of sought-after luxury handbags and accessories and present our collection to Australian and global customers. But if you click on our website and filter by “home scent”, you will see we feature a very special addition to our line of luxury leather goods: Cire Trudon.
Founded in France in 1643 on Paris’ Rue Saint-Honoré, Trudon holds the title of the oldest candlemaker in the world. Initially candlemakers to French royalty, with patronage including Louis XIV, over nearly four centuries Trudon have been hand-pouring the finest natural candles, with their fragrances gracing the houses of Marie Antoinette to Cindy Crawford.
In 2024, the candlemakers have a cult following.
Trudon candles maintain their legacy by being hand-poured into the signature handblown green glass vessels, a tradition upheld in Tuscany. Each candle continues to be made using pure cotton wicks and vegetable wax, ensuring a superior quality burn, in the same Norman factory as 1643. The embossed gold label of each classic Trudon candle is produced exclusively by the oldest champagne label maker in France.
With their fragrances known to exude potency, power, and intoxicating allure, aficionados of Trudon often describe their experience with the brand’s creations as nothing short of ceremonial. Trudon’s scents possess the ability to transfix and transcend, surpassing the efforts of other candlemakers and fragrance creators, with their fragrance pyramids — the olfactory structure of a scent — revealing not just fragrance notes, but European reveries and the influences of historical patrons.
Globally, and through our Cosette online shop, Trudon’s bestsellers are perennial. They include Odalisque, a fragrance that diffuses femininity and the same orange blossom notes, sweetened with vanilla and freshened with juniper berries, that would strike you upon entering a 17th-century Ottoman empire garden. Also, Solis Rex, blending cedarwood, incense and top notes of eucalyptus to evoke the majestic wooden parquetry flooring of the Château de Versailles.
Other notable fragrances included collaborations with French fashion house, Giambattista Valli, resulting in two exquisite candles; Valli Rose Poivréeand Valli Postorino. A Balmain collaboration was released in 2022, delivering an exemplary update to Trudon’s classic Ernesto scent.
Trudon’s reputation as the pinnacle of candle craftsmanship is enduring. Whether adorning a vanity table, creating an ambience for a special occasion, or simply indulging in moments of self-care, Trudon candles elevate the everyday into an extraordinary experience.
The brand is a symbol of timeless elegance and artistry, and for Cosette, it is an honour to stock candles, diffusers and room sprays that capture the hearts of home scent enthusiasts globally.
