"I'd better head back home, I have some hardware I need to work on for tomorrow," Kaito said as he turned off his laptop and started packing up. While he did move some of his work things over to Dez's place so they could spend more time together, some bigger things just weren't feasible to him.

"I suppose I can have someone deliver it to me instead so I can work on it here," he compromised. Kaito learned to be more flexible because of Dez, and it was worth it to stay by her side a little longer when he could. So Kaito texted someone for a delivery favour, now he could relax until his hardware arrived.

"It'll be here in half an hour, so until then," he started, soon resting his head on Dez's shoulder comfortably. He didn't understand it; her presence seemed to recharge him at times, like somehow he was more productive too when working at her home.

“Perhaps there is another way.” She thought a moment. “We could use smoke to bring them out of your room, if they are in there, and ambush them in the hallway.” One possibility at least.

“Yes. I live with her & my two sisters.” Pe clarified.

The woman held onto his arm & successfully led him all the way into the Mode HQ. She sighed then sat down. “I didn’t see them anywhere. Maybe they really are in your room.”

“Really? Well, I feel the same way, Dez,” Kaito admitted in return. “While I was content with my life, ever since we met, I wanted more. Spending time with you, creating Raito for you for your birthday. Thinking back, I guess I just wanted you to have another thing for me to maintain for you, so I had more excuse to visit haha.”

Raito the robot dog Kaito created for Dez’s birthday one year, he never thought it would blow up in popularity to the point he’d be starting his own business stemming from it. He had remade and upgraded his initial prototype over the years, now Raito had become a hybrid robot dog assistant of sorts, fetching things for them among other things. Kaito’s life was no longer average, and even without that bonus success, he was just happy to have Dez in his life.

"Thanks, you're the best, Dez," Kaito replied gratefully, and he meant it. Dez was perfect for him, she just knew just what to say even with their silence at times, so he could trust her. Why he eventually opened up about his feelings for her, and now about his own insecurities.

"Moment we met?" he repeated, remembering back. Kaito was glad he took that step, to follow up on her tech problem from over the phone to in person. He made a friend that day, but it just took him a long time to realise that they had become much more as they spent more time together.

"You too are smart, in your own way," Kaito admitted. Dez was definitely more street smart than him, and had a lot of wonderful qualities that had him falling for her. "And so kind and caring, I am lucky and blessed to have you by my side."

Felling her snuggling onto him, he wrapped his arms around her securely as he rested against her peacefully. Her words were reassuring and put him at ease, he was sure his insecurities would fade soon, because there would be no room for it with the happiness he felt with her.

"I'll trust you like you trust me, and I'll hold you for as long as you want me," he spoke with affectionate sincerity. "Even if it means forever."

"I'll be as patient as you need me to be." She spoke softly. It wasn't as if she didn't have her own doubts and insecurities.. Just like most things, she just kept them to herself. She didn't want him to drown in the despair that she knew.. it was a vast ocean that was never ending.. but she felt those breaths of air that kept her alive when she was in his arms. "Because I mean it Kaito.. you are wonderful in every way. Clever and smart.. kind.. Wonderful traits that took me away from the moment we met." She sighed happily as she shifted to basically be half on him. She wasn't initiating anything, she was just snuggling as close as possible as she closed her eyes. "I'm not going anywhere Kaito. You have nothing to worry about. Just hold me in your arms and I'll be nothing but happy."

Mother’s Day (related) Headcanons

Modern: Initially I had Kaito’s mother constantly pressuring Kaito for grandchildren to the point he started fake dating someone to get her off his case. But I decided to go more angsty and had her (and Kaito’s father) in a car accident, which pushed Kaito into make tech to help/protect people, like his robot-dog.

Medieval Fantasy AU: Kaito was raised by his mother who ran a flower shop, and told Kaito about his father’s whereabouts and hunter occupation once he became an adult. Kaito became a hunter to send money back to his mother after the flower shop was destroyed by demons/monsters, and to search for his hunter father.

It was a little embarrassing to admit, but Kaito was glad to get that off his chest, and it was nice that Dez was resting against him too, that their feelings felt mutual.

"I did?" he repeated in wonder, honestly he was just her tech support at first, but he was glad he did the same, as what she did for him, made his life so much better. Their friendship brought a lot of colour into his life, that he couldn't live without it once he got it. With Dez nuzzling into him, he wondered if they really were just friends.

"I don't plan on going anywhere outside it, guess we're stuck with each other," Kaito replied to reassure her, with a gentle smile. He held onto Dez securely, this warmth, he'd be content to stay like this for a while.

It warmed her heart to hear that he missed her too when she wasn't around. She sighed happily and wrapped her arms around him and buried herself into Kaito. It made her so happy to know that her feelings really were returned and weren't one-sided. She didn't want to be a nuisance or a burden at all. "..I'm glad.. I.. I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses the other.." She spoke softly against him. "..You came into my life and made it so much better Kaito.. I hope you know that.. I hope you'll always stay in my life.." She spoke as she nuzzled into him.
