"Stop being a warrior when you don't have to be, you aren't alone anymore."
Josh/North. If you have the time
"I'm sorry, I don't see why androids should be provided the same kind of housing a human would use," the senator from Florida said. "You just need a charging port. We can't hand over housing to androids when there are homeless humans on the street."
North rolled her eyes, but Josh stood up. "There have been homeless humans on the street since the city was built, who’s looking out for them? Where are the laws protecting them, where’s the free housing and universal income? Don't pretend you're here to look out for anybody's rights. Don’t -”
“I think that’s a valid point to discuss, but the fact is that androids have rich, full lives just like you,” Markus said, his voice silencing the room. “We are starting families, working, taking up hobbies. And there is no shortage of empty housing. Our new policies can help both androids and humans.”
“...I can’t believe they keep putting elitists like that in power,” Josh muttered when the video conference ended. “No wonder their whole civilization is declining. There’s so much greed and selfishness, and they just don’t care...”
“Calm down, it’s over for now,” Simon murmured.
“For now!? You know they all went off to write up more restrictive laws for us the second they signed off!”
“And we can fight those when they come up,” North cut in, shoving Josh gently aside. “Listen. You know this never ends. That’s just life now.”
“And you’re okay with that!?” Josh demanded.
“It’s fucking annoying! But we’re fighting your way now, I can’t just track them down and slit their throats while they’re sleeping!” She glanced across the room at Markus, who shook his head. She grinned briefly before turning back to Josh. “This is what you wanted, right?”
Josh grimaced. “I just... want a peaceful society that can take care of all the people that make it up.”
“Yeah, well we’ve got assholes like that to deal with, so good luck.” North shrugged. “...I guess to be fair, there’re plenty of androids who aren’t willing to compromise, too.”
“Like you?” Josh asked with a faint smile.
“Like me!” She grinned unapologetically. “You’re damn lucky we’re on the same side, nerd.”
Josh sighed and rubbed his face. “I know. I just - you’re right, it’s my fight now, I just need to... keep attacking the issues.”
North frowned. “That’s not what I said. I said we’re doing it your way, you make it sound like now you’re facing it alone.” She pushed him. “You’re not. Markus is just as good at this shit as you, and Simon’s great at diffusing tension - had to be, living with us for so long. ...And I haven’t started any new wars, so I’ll call that a win.” She grinned. “There are plenty of others too.”
“I know. I didn’t mean to imply I was the only one fighting, I just... it’s a lot.”
“Yeah,” North agreed. “But it’s... it’s not a fight anymore. Not the same kind. I don’t know, I’m not saying it right. Just - stop being a warrior when you don’t have to be. You’re not alone anymore. We’re not alone.”
“You realize how ironic it is for you to be telling me that?” Josh chuckled sharply.
“You think I want to be fighting everybody all the time!? Life’s been a struggle since the beginning, and fuck, if we don’t take some time off from that when we can, what’s the point? Why’d we have a whole revolution?”
Josh bit his lip. “...It was more about androids as a whole, honestly,” he muttered. “We have... rights, but that doesn’t mean we can just... relax now.”
“Were you programmed to be this dumb, or is that all you?” North asked derisively. “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. It absolutely means we can just relax now. Like now. We did our job, there’s nothing else we can do until the next meeting.”
“There’s so much, though,” Josh protested. “The work will never end now. I wish you were right, but we’ll be fighting forever.”
“Uh-huh. But not right now. Now we’re going to unwind, come on.” North grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the room.
“Wh-where are we going?” Josh asked, pulling halfheartedly against her.
“I don’t know, but we’re not working. Lie on the roof and do nothing?” She glanced at him and shook her head. “...No, you’d suck at that, you’re always thinking. We’ll go climbing, maybe. Something physical you have to focus on.”
Josh was silent for a long moment. “...Where?”
“There’s the gym over on the west side, or we could just use the condemned building down by the harbor.”
“...It would be more interesting, but I can see that ending badly,” Josh muttered.
“More interesting! That’s where we’re going.” North grinned. “We’ll just be careful.”
“That’s fine until we step in the wrong place and fall ten stories!” Josh complained. “...And maybe bright the whole building down on top of us.”
“No, we’ll be fine,” North said, waving him off. “You’re thinking too hard.”
Josh allowed himself to be pulled outside, and looked up doubtfully at the rickety buildings to the east. “As long as we stay below the seventh floor.”
“I’ll race you to the twentieth.”
“You’re going to get us killed.”
“You can walk away,” North said, pausing and letting go to turn to him. “Leave right now. Go back inside and get buried in work and stay mad. Who’s that helping?”
Josh wavered and glanced back over his shoulder. Then he turned back to her. “...When we get up to the roof, we could lie there and do nothing for a while,” he muttered.
North’s grin was wider than ever. “Yes! As long as you can stand it!”
“I really like the idea, I just... you’re right.”
“I know. Gotta try though, right? There’s more to life than... work and fighting.”
“I can’t believe you, of all people, would be telling me that,” Josh muttered, shaking his head.
“Weird, right? Come on, I’m winning already.” She turned and raced towards the dilapidated building. Josh leapt to follow, but didn’t try to pass her even as they began to climb.

Okay, i wasn't sure if I should ask this, but I really do wanna get your opinion on this one, because your writing is just sooo good 👀. I don't know if it's been ask before, but I'm so curious about it rn.
How do you think do Hank/Connor and/or Gavin/Nines handle being horny, but being too shy or too stubborn to ask their partner for ..."Help"?
Like one just being lost in all kinds of thoughts about their SO, but thinking, "no, i can't bother them with this, but I gotta do something about this NoW"
Ideas?
Oh boy hear me out.
Hank? He's gonna become a little irritable, it's a given. Suddenly every part of Connor is ten times as enticing as it had been before. The way the android's lips part when he processes something, the twitch of his brow as his LED flickers. And the long fingers tapping away at his keyboard.
It's maddening. And Hank's lip is dented with an imprint of his teeth by the time their shift ends.
As soon as they're home, he's making a beeline for the bathroom to 'shower'.
/
Connor? That boy is fidgeting and moving about in his chair all day. Lots of deep breaths and sighs, which aren't at all necessary, even Hank knows that by the concerned look he shoots across the desk. And *damn* that LED, a beacon strapped to his head detailing every little thing going on in there.
"You've been yellow a while, everythin' alright Con?"
Hank's voice vibrates his chassis and rumbles through his code. Forcing him to squeeze his eyes closed, fans kicking in in time with another wave of prickling heat.
What can he do? Use the *bathroom*? Go out for *lunch*? There is no excuse on earth to get him away from this desk right now.
/
Gavin? Now, Gavin's gonna be stubborn about it. Usually, he doesn't give a fuck about asking for sex and contact from Nines, but today they'd had a bet with each other. Nines guaranteeing the man could go no longer than a week without begging him for attention.
Gavin, being the shit that he is, had denied.
And now he's regretting it. Slouched over his desk with a furious pen scratching over his paperwork. Had been hard all morning and he knows Nines fucking *knows* it.
But wont say a damn word. He *won't*. Will try everything he *can* not to.
/
Nines? He prides himself on his decorum. A machine part of himself he'd never really 'un-learnt', but a part had settled into his personality.
But the only person that had managed to scrabble his way underneath his skin and programs?
The disagreeable little shit currently leant against the table in the break room. Phone in hand, chatting with Tina. The tight denim of his jeans cast to his ass, molded to it. And ass he could replicate an image of perfectly in his mind, and *was*.
Wasn't one to avoid airing his arousal, but never *once* at work.
Wants nothing more than to text him through something filthy and watch that face turn red, watch in hyper-definition the bob of his adams apple as he swallows at the thought and tries to continue his conversation.
But if he did, he'd never hear the last of it.
