Cosmosdex Confessions

A blog to air greivances about a server and fandom that silences whoever dares to speak out! Note: We are not a hate blog, but rather a place for those with issues with how the community is ran to actually be heard.

Adding on to this, it's a lot more of an issue because the side is made on so much user-generated work. And peoples' work is being put onto the shelf, told time and time again that "It'll get done later," and people are still able to submit images and art to the site in spite of it never being added. A ton of hard work and effort went into the entries only for them to have been shelved for literal years. At the very least, someone else should be allowed to go through and final-review or edit the entries to get them out of limbo. (Pun not intended.)
Neglected Webcomic + Site
It pisses everyone off that the Cosmosdex site and the webcomic Fortuna itself gets so neglected for things like Cosmicrew and generated pet development. The biggest appeal to the site was community creation and the collaborative DnD-esque database present for all to take from or contribute to. It's really a shame nobody can complain about it because I feel it'd be complained about a LOT more if the owner allowed people to actually speak about what they want from Cosmic Events. It has honestly driven off a lot of veteran users from the site, the fanbase, and the community to be turning Cosmosdex/Fortuna into another online pet game.

Retroactive Age Limit & Mod Liability
The previously 13+ range for the webcomic and retroactive 18+ age limit honestly kind of irks me as the owner is removing liability from themselves and the mods instead of actively curating the space to remove predators, be mindful of minors, and maintain the previously PG-13 environment. As I've said before the webcomic and mirrors are publically viewable on 13+ sites- introducing minors to the content. If it is going to be limited to an 18+ crowd then those mirrors and the site should also be restricted or taken down to prevent minors from lying about their age to interact with the now gated community.
But nobody will do that. :( Because the owner and the mods aren't liable anymore? :( And they don't actively promote or provide very many 13+ friendly fan-made alternatives to the Cosmic Events server other than like... two. :(

Retroactive 18+ Age Limit
Cosmosdex and Tragedy of Fortuna have always been up on Eagletime and MSFPA which are 13 years of age and up. Cosmosdex and Fortuna contain PG-13 content and social, biological, and body horror that is pretty standard to pre-teen level cartoons and comics.
However, the owner has enacted a retroactive (once not there before) 18+ age limit for Cosmic Events- the primary way to interact with the fandom at large. This bars minors and the primary audience- new underaged fans who discover it publically posted to those sites- from interacting with the community at large.
Not only that but underaged fans are being booted from Cosmic Events entirely, and are offered a "limited time" compensation and no written guarantee of any money spent on products (pets, items) being maintained for them until they're old enough. Ultimately a loss of transactions from minors with no promise of a refund.
It feels like the job of a site and owner who sets a retroactive rule to protect the consumers and what they consume until they're of appropriate age to engage again but ok...

Generated Pets: A Stifled Complaint
Cosmicrew and Cosmic Events promotes itself to be very artist-friendly and supporting artists, however the integration of generated pets is unfortunately ruining that aspect. Anyone who seeks to complain about generated pets is written off as "not liking change" and as the owner once stated "part of the userbase that always complains when there's a new release".
While generated pets have not replaced artist pets, and artist pets are valued over generated pets, the push to make every new pet lineart generated and gened is honestly annoying and unnecessary. The appeal of the game was commissioning artists, giving artists money, supporting the community. You would often do art for tickets, and these tickets would pay other artists!
As of right now generated pets do help users who cannot afford artist pets, but are worth very little- and are underdeveloped in their current state. I find myself flocking back to sites like Flightrising or Lioden simply because they've been around for so much longer and are so much more expansive and have a better economy than Cosmicrew.
Generated pets and the site store help nobody but the owner who, by the way, constantly complains about making no profit off of the site! You have patreon supporters, take tips from artists, make ad revenue off the site, and could easily take commissions from the community you've cultivated! Maybe if you budgeted your finances better you could make this your job instead of constantly guilting us with the fact you volunteer your services for free.

Broken Economy In Cosmicrew
Something that has always personally pissed me off about Cosmicrew and Cosmic Events is the owner giving themself rare, ancient, and legendary items/pets. These rewards are normally scarcely given and earned through event and site participation.
They give themself items as payment for their work on the site and item submissions; this is fine and has never bothered me, especially as the owner gives back to the community and stimulates the economy by trading these items for fairly low prices en mass.
However, they've notoriously gone against this reward system and then used the exclusiveness of certain pets to get a leg up on the economy. I.E. Unicorns were at one point not an orderable species and were obtained through a special event and special rewards, however the owner ordered multiple legendary-tier unicorns from artists. This would be fine if they were perhaps kept forever by the owner or owned by NPCs, but the owner traded them off for value later. The kicker is they were considered "classic" unicorns by that point and ergo especially unobtainable- even through the new means of ordering unicorns!
Recently they've gone and gave themself an Ancient Camusken- which nobody but one other person has due to it being their special reward/request. What especially bothers me is this person was told not to ask for "too much" because it was free, but the owner is allowed to give themself a fully paid for artist ancient that they're likely just going to trade off later.
Nobody is allowed to say anything about this in-server or criticize the owner because others will either not voice this opinion out of fear, or will say "oh but they do so much work, they deserve it" even if they're cheating their own economy and causing a huuuuuge imbalance. Why bother with special rewards when the owner can give it to themself anytime? Unfair.

DISCLAIMER
This is NOT a Cosmosdex/Fortuna/Cosmicrew hate blog. This is not meant to make anybody feel bad or tear anybody down. Posts or submissions which interpersonally target a user or aren't a fair criticism of the fandom/site/webcomic/server/owner will be rejected.
I.E. Discussing known predator in the community vs. Complaining about a personal argument with a user.
The owner of Cosmic Events and the Cosmosdex curates the space in a way which nobody can comfortably criticize or complain about the issues surrounding the community without being harassed or banned. This is simply a blog where people can speak freely without getting dogpiled by the owner and those who hold the owner in high regard.
