Taketoki Washizu (Toshiro Mifune) meets his end in Throne of Blood (1957), director Akira Kurosawa's dynamic adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth.
This scene was accomplished with highly skilled archers actually shooting arrows at Mifune-san (except for the one through the neck, of course). The armor he wore had an added layer of padding underneath, but some of the arrow heads still managed to poke him.
