Rationale
Assignment Two
For this assignment I was given 2012 Summer Olympics in London. I found that the branding for these games were bizarre, random and lacked connection to any english culture. I decided that I would incorporate jaggity lines and design techniques from the original logo to my own mascots. I decided to go with a British bulldog as my male athlete, a fox for my female athlete, a red deer as my paraplegic and a mouse as my supporter. I looked at iconic buildings around London and incorporated their shapes into my characters such as tower bridge (deer silouhette), St Mar Axe (fox tail), and the london eye (mouse). I experienced with different colour palettes that would help tie the characters together as a recognisable unit. I used green, oranges and brown (dull fall colours) for the furs and traditional english flag colours; white, red and blue for their costumes. I am happy with the final product and this that my characters would easily translate over a variety of mediums and products.
