“It’s me. Hi! I’m the problem. It’s me.” — she says sardonically while aggressively pointing her finger at the truth.

This is probably nothing but the use of the word “mystique” in the Jane Wickline/Sabrina Carpenter SNL skit stuck out to me and reminded me of Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique that challenged the post-WW2 assumption that women belonged as homemakers. Betty is also the activist who coined the name “Lavender Menace” (pejorative).

What if staying in the lavender haze wasn’t necessarily about a lavender relationship but more so about being a Lavender Menace who’s undercover… like an anti-hero or a vigilante?

Calling all Swifties!
Remember how Taylor changed the lyrics of Long Live to “it was the end of an ERA”?
While the obvious connection is to the Eras Tour, she could have also been bringing attention to the Equal Rights Amendment.
Please use your platforms to raise awareness in the hopes that Biden will certify the ERA prior to the end of his term.
A reminder that Biden is still president for the next two months...
Convince him to publish this, and we may have some hope for the future.
(Note: This is different from the one passed in New York)

We've known the Eras tour stage is a key for a long time, but today I learned that it's actually THE key to the secret garden from the movie adaptation of the Secret Garden. I lover her mind. I wish we'd found this before we ever knew about TTPD.

Midnights and Wicked

“The answer, of course, is that the clock isn’t meant to measure earthly time, but the time of the soul. Redemption and condemnation time. For the soul, each instant is always one minute short of judgement.”

Hey, um guys, has anyone seen this clip that Max just posted to TikTok of “stepmommy” Laura Dern ‘burning it all down’? It’s from Enlightened which is now 12 years old so it seems a bit intentional.

Taylor Swift is Cabaret-ing Everyone Pt. 3
In the Eddie Redmayne production currently on Broadway, he wears a skeleton outfit during the song “Money” (the song itself is a commentary on Capitalism and rampant consumerism) and the outfit is supposed to make it clear that the Emcee is the physical embodiment of “greed” which turns us all into skeletons after we chase after “that clinking clanking sound”.

Taylor’s Midnights outfit she wore LA N5 to me, has always resembled that of a skeleton:

I have, for awhile, speculated that the biggest reference to Cabaret's song "Money" is her quote in the Times Person of the Year article:
"What fuels a patriarchal society? Money, flow of revenue, the economy. So actually, if we’re going to look at this in the most cynical way possible, feminine ideas becoming lucrative means that more female art will get made. It’s extremely heartening.”
And while sadly this is true, we should be focusing our efforts on dismantling this system rather than reinforcing it by participating in it. In much the same way, Sally Bowles and the MC are correct when singing repeatedly about how "Money makes the world go 'round, the world go 'round". However, the song becomes a painfully aware critique of that system by illustrating the rising poverty levels in pre-war Berlin at the time with the lyrics, “Who’s knocking on the door? Hunger!”.
