SOTR SPOILERS

The way Buttercup always hissed at Katniss until she gave him entrails. But she tolerated him because Prim loved him. Then in the end of Mockingjay he helped her healing.
Then the Geese always hissed at Haymitch until he gave them cracked corn. But he tolerated them because Lenore loved them. Then in the end of Mockingjay they helped his healing.
The parallels will never end :(

Katniss and Peeta both won the spouse lottery. It’s not just Peeta who’s a great person, Katniss is a wonderful person too. They are literally the best two people in district twelve for the other. They fully won. Stop putting down my girl Katniss, she’s everything Peeta needs and wants in one person.

i am holding the internet's hands and begging you guys not to be weird when they eventually cast adults to portray the kids in sunrise on the reaping. probably not all of the tributes and not all of the teens in district twelve but definitely some. the entertainment industry has never been kind to children and i hope every production does it best to protect its young cast but i know that isn't true. i also know that there are younger people in the fandom who weren't around during the original films' run and so they didn't witness all the unjust hate and vitriol lobbied at some of the cast especially amandla stenberg (rue's actress) and i hope to god no young actor goes through that again.
jennifer lawrence was twenty one years old when she got cast for the hunger games and i thank the casting director for that every day. a lot of people complained that she didn't look thin enough or young enough or waifish enough to portray katniss and i'm glad that the producers ignored those comments. because jennifer lawrence was skilled and talented enough to bring justice to katniss' character and most of all she was an adult who had a better chance of surviving all of the pressure and challenges that comes with leading a massive franchise. sure they could've casted an equally skilled actress who was sixteen years old but could that sixteen year old survive all of the trials and tribulations that comes with being at the forefront of a popular entertainment franchise

A Lenore Dove coded song is,
If I Die Young, by The Band Perry.
Some of the lyrics include:
“I’ll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom, I’m as green as the ring on my little cold finger,
I’ve never known the loving of a man but it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand.”
“There’s a boy here in town says he’ll love me forever…”
“Maybe then you’ll hear the words I’ve been singing, funny when you’re dead how people start listening.”
“The ballad of a dove.”
“Go with peace and love. Gather up your tears keep em in your pocket save em for a time when you’re really gonna need em…”
😭Anyway everyone should listen to this after reading the book for more heartbreak.

the tragedy and beauty of lucy gray and maude ivory and lenore dove who all loved so much that they payed for it with their lives. gray and ivory and dove, neutral shades describing girls who were colourful and daring and bold. singers. rebels. musicians. covey. three colours so very close to white, but ultimately not. almost, almost white, like the snow, but not quite. gray and ivory and dove, living in parallels and dying in parallels then resting next to each other, in a pretty row, a gradient, forever and always just beyond snow's reach.

Funnily enough, I was surprised to discover how much of a romantic Haymitch is from Sunrise on the Reaping. I can’t remember if this trait is hinted at in the original trilogy, but I kept asking myself, “Is this really him?” But it goes to show how someone (Suzanne Collins, in this case) can control a narrative and make you see what they want you to see, just like how The Capitol presented Haymitch as a rascal/rebel.
And that’s what I expected! I expected him to be like that in SOTR because we “saw” his Games the way Katniss and Peeta did while watching his tape. Him tricking Silka into rebounding the ax against the force field seemed like it was purposefully done, but then in SOTR, you learn he only realized what would happen after she threw it. He merely collapses on the ground beforehand. He didn’t duck: “My knees, already on the verge of giving way, fold like a wet cardboard and I collapse to the dirt as an ax whistles over my head into the canyon. That’s when I remember the force field. And what happens to dropped objects.”
Not to say Haymitch isn’t clever, but what I had thought was a cunning decision on his part turned out to be unintentional. It’s such good characterization and commentary on propaganda.

The scene in catching fire where Katniss goes to Haymitch to make him promise to protect Peeta only for him to say that Peeta was just there asking the same thing for her is heartbreaking and beautiful and tragic and all that
but its also hilarious because it gives us a very clear metric for the difference between Katniss and Peeta's emotional bandwidth. At any given moment, she's about 45 mins behind whatever realization he just came to. And they're gonna end up in the same place, at the same conclusion its just gonna take her an extra sec to get there give her a minute

I feel like it would be so neat if there was some kind of fan works event in the school spirits fandom during this in-between seasons drought bc if its anything like the last time we were between seasons I'm gonna be dying
