so the vampire book was profoundly stupid but at least chauv got a gun

ok update, i got about a third of the way through and it's not terrible, but the vampires are a weirdly tiny part of the plot. it's functionally just about a servant girl who gets roped into the league, which is fine enough as a story, but there's a mention of vampires only every so often. nothing related to the plot. i really think it would have done better as just a general retelling of the story from a servant's perspective like mary reilly did with jekyll and hyde.
