Infertility affects more than one in 10 women of reproductive age worldwide. The subject in this study, born without a uterus, received the organ from a 45-year-old woman who had delivered three children naturally. The donor had died of a stroke.
Seven months after the 10-hour transplant surgery — after menstruation began, and once it became evident that the patient’s body had not rejected the organ — doctors implanted the uterus with one of the patient’s own eggs.
A six-pound baby girl was delivered through cesarean section in December 2017, according to Dr. Dani Ejzenberg, a gynecologist at the Hospital das Clínicas at the Universidade de São Paulo in Brazil, who led the research.
In the future, patients may be able to turn to organ banks instead of searching for volunteers, and living donors could avoid risky complications such as infections or serious bleeding.
Sadly the baby was conceived through IVF, so while uterine transplants are a big deal for those born with malformed or non-existent uteri, mainstream medical culture will still rely on faulty assisted reproductive technology that doens’t aim to address the underlying maladies that cause infertility to begin with.
With that said, I am hoping this procedure leads to many more babies for women without a uterus of their own!

I wonder if you or your followers have any thoughts on this. I’m married and unfortunately have a super low libido. I want to have more sex with my husband, and I’m actually happy to have a reasonable amount even if I’m not turned on. However, he says he can’t enjoy it if I’m not enjoying it. I don’t know how to enjoy it more. The pressure gets so much and then I’m too worried I can’t enjoy it so then I don’t. :(
I’m sorry but I don’t really have any experience with this. I’ll leave the ask up for my followers, they may have useful advice.
Also, @patron-saint-of-smart-asses runs a sexuality blog so you may ask her!

What Does a Positive Ovulation Test Look Like? Are you new to taking ovulation predictor tests? Not sure how a positive ovulation test looks like? Ovulation test strips work a lot like pregnancy tests, but the results are not interpreted in the same way as pregnancy test results. This short video will show you what a positive ovulation test looks like. To help you interpret your OPK test results, consider the following:- Two clear lines (control and test line) indicate a positive test result- One control line is a negative (invalid) test result- A control line and a faint test line is also a negative test result This quick video will also help you understand ovulation test progression and when you should expect to ovulate.

Do you know how pregnancy happens?
It takes up to 2-3 weeks after sex for pregnancy to happen — it’s actually a pretty complicated process that has several steps.

I'm 15 and looking into starting charting. I'm obviously not looking to get pregnant, just to make sure I don't have any medical problems. Do you have a suggestion of a type of charting I could do or at least start with that isn't too hard? There's no such thing as too gross if that matters. Thank you in advance!
I think if your parents are supportive, you could ask them to pay for an instructor to teach you. Organizations like BillingsLIFE and FEMM Health both have special curriculum for teens, though you can contact any NFP organization and ask if an instructor would be willing to give an age appropriate lesson for a teenager.
A book for teen girls and how to chart (for ages 14+) is Cycle Savvy by Toni Weschler. She teaches the reader how to chart for her health, and also has a section on “safe sex”. You or your parents can buy it for you, and they can go over the book to see what is in it specifically, and then they can talk to you about topics they want to teach you themselves.
Honoring Your Cycles by Katie Singer is another book you can buy on how to chart, and it’s a very simple manual most people can understand; but it also teaches you how to use it for “birth control.” Again, your parents can look over the material with you, and decide which parts they will like you to read, and which parts discuss things they would rather talk to you about.
A neat organization you can check out is Natural Womanhood. They have written a LOT on options for teens to learn fertility awareness, so check out their blog!

Whenever I am sick, I always have a lot of clear, liquid-y, vaginal discharge. Is this normal?
I know of other women who have mentioned it, yes. I am unsure of any medical sources that discuss it, though.
Whenever you are ill, it’s normal for the stress of the event itself to mess with your hormonal cycle, and numerous medications can affect mucus production as well; so always chart as many fertility signs as you can and as detailed as you can for accurate use of your method!
