Hey!! I’m a super big fan of your work, and I absolutely love all the Podfic you do. I listen to Podfic a lot, and lately you’ve kind of inspired me to think about making Podfic of fics that I like (after asking permission of course), especially in fandoms that don’t have a lot of it.

I was wondering if you had any good suggestions for starting to make Podfic, ie. Recording/mics and software, where to upload, or any other tips. I appreciate it, and again, I adore the huge amount of Podfic you’ve put out over the years. 🩷

Hi! Yes! I am so excited I have inspired you, podficcing is really fun. For microphones a good entryway microphone is the blue snowball! I currently use the blue yeti, but unless you know you are in it for the long haul I wouldn't start out with it. If you want to test it out without investing a lot first, some people just use a headset mic, or even a recording app on their phone. And the most popularly used editing software is audacity, a free program that is available for Mac or PC.

A lot of people upload to Google drive or drop box, my friend is using backblaze as hosting and archive.org is very popular because it allows streaming.

But actually I don't know a ton about the technical side of things, I am extremely lazy in my editing and if I have questions I ask them in the podfic chat discord where there are hundreds of lovely knowledgeable people who have much more information than me.
