Our first fiber colorway is finally here! Buy your own on our website in five different fiber bases 🎃 You may recognize this colorway, back from a Limited Edition Yarn from 2021 - Pumpkin Cream! Rich, burnt orange fades into a glow-touched cream. This colorway makes me want soup, or coffee, or any number of warm delicious liquids to hold in a mug in my hands while I look into the windy sky.

Sharing the Love
I (Kit, older knit sibling & social media manager of the two of us) wanted to take a moment to write a post just for all of you on tumblr and thank you for how much you love and share our work <3 Small craft businesses are not exactly a way to make a living, and thankfully we don’t have to try to make a living with this, but we’ve managed every year to make at least enough to keep going - which means we get to keep trying new things and doing the fiber arts that we love. And all of you would have no way of knowing this if we didn’t tell you, so I’m telling you…
For the past few years, every single sale we’ve made through our shopfront has come from tumblr.
And that only happens because all of you share our posts.
Most recently, our post about our Pay What You Can program got popular again! I’m glad it did, I’m still really proud of that program, and if it sounds intriguing to you, you can find out more about it if you scroll on our blog (I’ll reblog the relevant post soon), or if you go to our website cozyhearthyarnworks dot com and look for Pay What You Can in the menu. But we’ve also had people just sharing artistic shots of yarn, or my excited launch posts about new colorways, or goofy meme posts about the shop cats. I wanted you to know-
-literally every time you reblog a post from us, you’re increasing the chance we get to keep doing this another day.
So thank you. And shop cat Fiyero thanks you too, because he really likes laying on the wool.

[Image: shop cat Fiyero, a long haired tabby cat with green eyes, lays on a lap on top of pattern pages and blue chunky-yarn knitting. He’s staring straight at the camera with an intense expression.]

Finn wool may look a little rougher at first glance, but don't be fooled! It has a well-deserved reputation for a softer "hand" or feeling than its micron count might otherwise indicate. ☁️ These medium-fineness, medium-length fibers practically jump out of the top into the spun yarn, and make for easy felting projects as well! As a spinner, I reach for Finn wool when I want an enjoyably mindless spin that ends in a soft but practically durable yarn 🧶 All our fiber colorways are available on Finn 🐑

Polwarth wool was developed from Merino sheep with an addition of Lincoln ancestry. It retains much of Merino’s softness and crimp, and gains length and drape from its longwool side. Polwarth is moderately resistant to felting and pilling, and when spun, creates yarn with next-to-skin softness, surprising loft, and enough durability for outdoor activity. 🐑 We’re currently sold out of Polwarth in Pumpkin Cream, but more will be coming on more colorways throughout the month- and if you really want more of any fiber on a colorway that’s sold out, tell us & then we’ll know there’s enough interest to dye up some more! Falkland wool has an exceptionally bright white base, comfortably medium length fibers, and is soft to the touch 🐑 I tend to reach for Falkland as a spinner when I want an extra-squishy yarn, as it has a tendency to make extra-bulky singles, puffing up enthusiastically in the finishing process!
All our colorways are available on Falkland top in our online shop ✨

Uaine is… verdant 📗🏞️🇮🇪 One of two words used for green, uaine captures rolling green hills, rivers, and many man-made shades: a green coat, green paint, the green of the Irish flag. While both uaine and glas are used for green, sometimes even for the same objects viewed through different eyes, our interpretation of uaine leans towards the vibrant, and we attempted to capture both naturally and supernaturally powerful tones in this colorway. You can get this colorway dyed to order on any of our yarn bases from the Dathanna collection on our website!

Our sixth fiber colorway is almost here - you can preview the listing on our website now, and it will become available on all five of our current fiber bases on Friday, May 24th 2024 at noon EDT 🌅 "Homeric" - Inspired by the wine-dark sea and the rosy-fingered dawn (art by Kristendawn) - Dark burgundy waves lay next to golden-pink skies, with a rare chance of a blue-green flash where the two meet. This colorway makes me want to curl up with a delicious drink and a good book, and sink into imaginative beauty.

Buí is… sallow ☀️🥇🌽 A strong yellow, buí is the color of sunbeams, gold, cornmeal, leather, dried fish, and tanned skin. Although the word can be found idiomatically used as “ugly,” this colorway brims with character and a certain crooked-grin charm. Buí is a good mid-tone in a set or a strong primary color on its own. Shifts between bright and tawny yellow-gold. You can get this colorway dyed to order on any of our yarn bases from the Dathanna collection on our website!

Dubh is… secret 🐈⬛🌃🖤 A surprisingly nuanced charcoal-purple. Dubh is the color of black hair, the night, raven’s feathers, and coal. Shimmering with blue, purple, and brown undertones in the right light, this colorway offers a subtle chance to stand out on the dark end of the spectrum. You can get this colorway dyed to order on any of our yarn bases from the Dathanna collection on our website!

New handspun "Stellar Magic" is available on our website now 🌠 A single skein of handspun yarn, made from our Cosmic Cliffs colorway on a blend of 50% Rambouillet wool, 35% Tussah silk, and 15% flax fiber. Chain-plied 3-ply yarn construction at DK weight (Craft Yarn Council 3 - Light), 218 yards/118 grams. The blended fibers add texture and depth to the colors, proceeding smoothly between deep blues, pale star-blue-golds, and dark browns with deep cool sheen. This skein came out round, smooth, and fascinatingly textured!

Rambouillet wool is a French cousin to the Spanish Merino, developed in the late 1700s. Its luxury fineness and incredible elasticity makes for springy, lofty yarn, and the slightly more matte surface takes colors clearly but softly. Rambouillet felts beautifully, and when spun, creates soft yarn with generous loft, and delicate garments appropriate for next-to-skin or baby use. 🐑 We currently only have Rambouillet in Cosmic Cliffs, but more will be coming on more colorways throughout the month- and if you really want more of any fiber on a colorway that’s sold out, tell us & then we’ll know there’s enough interest to dye up some more!
