The whole argument is that in the future you might not have enough to buy a replacement, so you just keep the old stuff in case things go sideways, examples went from a tv to food.
The thing is, rich people were minimalist even before they were loaded, they use their heads, if they don't know where their money is gonna come from in the future they will use what is available to only buy the bare minimum and keep whatever is left stashed for an emergency. Only after they're in a stable situation and have money to spare is when they'll start buying frivolous shit. A tv is not necessary and will not make you money, it will only give extra costs, so if you're broke, spend the money on tools, courses and knowledge, that shit will never break or expire, invest in yourself. Hoarding is not a consequence of being poor, it just comes from the same mentality that keeps you in that situation. The farther down the well you are, the more difficult it is, because only money will give you a broader range of options, and that is not something you have, but remember it grows exponentially, the more you invest in yourself results in having more money which makes it viable to invest even more, little by little, more and more and so on. You will only have as much money as you knowledge allows, a born-rich dumbass will burn through his inheritance like a wildfire and a wise man born in misery will increase his resources until the day he passes the torch to the next generation.
lower-income people tend to be “hoarders” and richer people are able to do more “minimalist” living spaces. if u don’t have much, you will hold onto any little thing that comes across your way. you got a new tv, but you still keep the old tv because you know things can break. you keep extra boxes of macaroni and cheese lying around because there will be a week when you don’t have money for groceries. you hold onto your stacks of books and clothes for dear life. those are your assets. physical evidence of where your money’s gone. it’s hard to get rid of it. the bare wall is terrifying when you don’t have much.

So... Companies would pay you nothing if they could?? That is some really dumb shit right there, an entrepreneur knows that work is an exchange that must be met with an equal value, because to pay nothing for someone's work is the same as robbing them, to that we use the term slavery, do not be fooled, people who do that are thieves, they would rob you anywhere whenever they could, these people are lazy assholes who know that to produce and create an effort is necessary, but who believe it is beyond them, so they specialize on making you feel guilty, they use terms like "for the greater good", "do it for love"... And make it known that only the "best" feel that way, that to make a profit is bad, since "true" masters live off the achievement itself, bullshit, never forget that to make a contract there needs to be two people, and it works on the principle that both parts want to make a profit, that both parts take the improvement of themselves as the only goal. I can say that I was taught the wrong way, throughout my life I was always told that to sacrifice myself was the mark of a good man, that if someone needed something, I should give it right alway if I could, well..., I was always the one giving, never taking. Because I studied and knew more than others it was my obligation to do for them what they couldn't, if I did give part of my life for someone who don't care about theirs, no big deal should be made out of it, and if I refused, no matter how much had been done before, I would be tagged as a bad person and should be punished for it. Workers by themselves don't make a company, but the idea of whoever created it does, that person thought about every aspect, every machine and every solution, it was real before it was solid and the worst variable they have to deal with is the efficiency of whomever works there, they try to make it as simple a task as possible so to make sure the risk is minimal and still there are mistakes, he "shake hands" with a person for them to work for a period of time, that person arrives late, leaves earlier, and in between it hides in the bathroom or goes on 10 minute water/coffee breaks every half an hour, then it goes home, shrieks about how hard life/work is and spends the rest of the day watching TV. Trust me, we don't wanna have to hire you as much as you don't wanna have to work there, but unfortunately we need each other. There are robbers posing both as union leaders and as company managers, people who make a profit out of your sweat and ideas, a real business man goes 24/7 working on a way to make their process more efficient, if that person is just sitting there, then someone must be doing his work for him and all the moneys he receives is a loss, whoever is doing the work for him will leave at some point, good workers know their value, and with that knowledge the person can start their own company and take over.
TL:DR Fight for your rights and don't accept less than you deserve, but don't forget to be realistic about it, weight facts not fantasies, if you believe in your potential then make it into something solid, you should always be the one who cares most about your life don't be an illogical asshole and expect people to care more about you than themselves.

Spurious Correlations by Tyler Vigen.
These charts were made to depict that correlation does not always equal causation, showing that although statistics always arise, they aren’t always necessarily useful.
