At one point Facebook wanted to be an international hub for organ donation. The “Lean In” lady asked why she couldn’t go down to Mexico and buy a kidney if her four year old needs one. This is literally on p.57. What the fuck else is going to be in this book if that is on page 57

There are so many ways to broaden your horizons when it comes to media anymore. Entire websites built to help you find books and movies and shows and games that you would enjoy! There are bloggers on this website dying to rec you their niche little interest. Entire subreddits for horror movies, or rpgs, or romance books where you can find the exact story that fits your interest. Go to some creative you like's wikipedia page and work your way through their listed works. See what random movies are free on the internet archive or youtube. Get a library card and check out books with blurbs and covers you like. And it is so much fun to find something you've never heard of and then love it with all your heart. If you get out of what the algorithm is feeding you and go searching yourself you will feel so much better I promise.

I remember when I first found out the truth about “Somali pirates” I got chills because of how horrific the truth was and how insanely creepily well the media had twisted the situation. Every single fucking article making it seem like these “pirates” were just after money or something holding innocent people hostage and I never gave it a second thought, why would I? There was no indication that people were trying to legitimately fight off disgusting imperialism that left nuclear waste in their waters, that over 300 people have died from radiation sickness, that Europeans have been stealing Somalia’s seafood because they overfished their own waters and the indigenous fisherman are starving and so these “pirates” emerged to deal with those stealing their country’s natural resources. The truth is enough to make anyone sick to their stomachs.
