AU NERD RAMBLE UNDER THE CUT X•DD

I don't think they would like each other very much. In the OG canon, Bacon would be like, 2-D's biggest fan, just fanboying and yearning all over the place. X•D But in Dynaswap, Bacon would bully and degrade him as a way to stick up for Murdoc; just being straight up mean, getting to the point where he starts picking on him even if he didn't do or say anything intentionally rude (also, he's just kinda got a huuuge bias against blue-haired snobs who push others around *wink wink nudge nudge* X•D). I would imagine in Dynaswap, Murdoc knows and is actually well-acquainted with the Toon Devils because he spent more of his time screwing around with black magic, and had known them since he was around 17-18. They all know he's been though a lot, and consider him family despite how prickly, rude and avoidant he is. So they often try stand up for him when they see he is being mistreated.

Bits often tries to kill Stu in very cartoony ways and always fails (Wile E. Coyote type shit X•D), Emi challenges Stu to physical activities he knows he has disadvantages in as a way to humiliate/humble him. Sammy tries to avoid him most of the time, but will smart-mouth and sass the hell out of Stu when needed. Bacon is the worst to Stu, just straight up calling him names and pushing him around, and making him feel even more inferior and shutting him down. It starts off small at first, but it gradually gets so out of hand that Stu eventually goes absolutely apeshit at Bacon and gets into a physical altercation with him backstage during a failed show. Bacon is so caught off-guard that he just lets Stu beat him up. X•D ANYWAY X•D Here's the version without all the filters and junk just cause!:

Yes!!! Thank you, that is a wonderful analysis!!!! And I do believe Phase 3 would've been Stu's lowest point for sure. We do know that Stu puts up a haughty front to mask his insecurities and other negative feelings (albeit a bit poorly), so I would imagine he's definitely reached that point by Phase 3 where things just feel absolutely horrible for him due to the feelings of loneliness and being kept in the dark, Russel and Noodle's leave, as well as everything else that's been piling up on him thus far that he hasn't been able to properly communicate or express. Overcompensation's for sure at an all-time high with him, and he's acting out in desperation and most likely engaging in unhealthier coping mechanisms; taking it out on Murdoc at that pier in worse ways now that Noodle's not there to mediate. But yes! I reckon all we can do is speculate, like you said!

from what i understand, stuart holds a serious grudge against murdoc for the accident that ruined his life—just like the canonical 2d. the big difference? stuart doesn't stay silent about it. he's not afraid to tell murdoc exactly how he feels and goes out of his way to make murdoc's life as difficult as possible, which leads to constant fights between them. stuart doesn't hold back, dishing out physical, verbal, and emotional abuse toward murdoc.

in the original story, we know 2d stuck around for years, likely due to stockholm syndrome. we also know that in this version, murdoc originally agreed to start the band because he was flat broke. but here's the thing: why is murdoc still hanging around now that they've made it big? the band's successful, they're not struggling for money anymore, so what do you think is keeping him there—especially with stuart making his life miserable at every turn? do you think stuart would even allow murdoc to quit and leave the band?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Hi! I really love your analysis there! This is one of my favorite AUs, and it always makes me happy to see other people getting into it, talking about it and forming theories and analysis of their own. :•)

Well, I think this has already been somewhat answered around the first phase when the AU first started rolling out. In the now defunct original blog, honkongaton-studios, someone had asked Murdoc the same question. Yes, you'd imagine that he'd already dip the hell out of there seeing as how he'd no longer have to worry about expenses, but it appears this is not entirely the case:

It appears Murdoc still has trouble with money, even while still in the band. This is because it has been confirmed that Stu actually drains the band's earnings on shopping binges and other things; more specifically Murdoc's earnings.

This is what could explain why he still stays, at least for Phase 1 and maybe 2. But what I do get curious about often is Phase 3. It is implied that Murdoc could definitely overpower Stu if he wanted to; what with him being possessed by demons and all, and having an anger and defensiveness level superior to that of Canon Murdoc's.

In Plastic Beach, 2-D had really only stuck around because he was always brought back by Murdoc; Murdoc in canon being more resourceful and strategical about things, thus having his ways of bringing 2-D back to the island no matter how many times he tried to escape. However, Stu is not very bright and though he may have the resources, I don't reckon he would know how to put them to use very well. Its something he would definitely not be able to do alone, is what I'm sayin'.

I believe Murdoc could very easily escape Stu, he could very easily fool him and slip away right under his nose. So, what keeps him in that little cell of his back at the pier? Maybe some guards Stu hired that we didn't get to know about? Does Murdoc just not have anywhere else to go? Is he, like Stu, having trouble grieving over the loss of their other two bandmates, and just sticks around him just to feel some twisted sense of familiarity, or because its something they both find they can bond over (albeit, not in a very healthy manner)?

Unfortunately, the AU was terminated before we could even find out anything more. But I have also seen theories from other people before suggesting that one (or more) of Murdoc's demons, keep bringing him back to keep him there every time he escapes because they are in kahoots with Stu or something. Its very interesting!

Well, there is also that cyborg version of Russel, but we barely got anything about him either. One thing's for sure though, he definitely does play a role in keeping Murdoc confined as well!

Personally, I like the demon theory because it makes it more interesting; to me at least! Just imagine, the demons Murdoc had always counted on while performing (and other things, who knows what else Murdoc has used them for — point being, they've been though thick and thin, I think!), turning on him, joining forces with the same knucklehead who made it a point to make his life a living hell for the past couple years, and bringing him back to the same nightmare every time he thinks he's made it out for good. 😱

Anyway, I hope all of this made sense! I tried to make this sound as comprehensible as possible cause sometimes I have trouble putting my thoughts into words. X•D But yeah! That's my thoughts on that. Feel free to put in your own input as well if you feel the need to!
