This picture particularly is unclear in whether it’s a piano or a keyboard/synth. Both play a significant role in A Seat at the Table, therefore this picture’s ambiguity is perfect.

Solange performs with people alongside her. In speaking of F.U.B.U, Solange mentioned the presence of others in helping her write the song. Not necessarily physically, but in how the experiences she expresses are universal among black people in America. Hence the name For Us By Us.

This photo is of a performance of Rise/Weary on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. This photo does not match the blue aesthetic of this blog-- I felt this way listening to Mad for the first time. The music was calming but the words were deep, leading to two completely different feelings when I listened to it as background music vs. active listening.
