So let's talk about Gen Z's current obsession: Big Blac...oh sorry I mean TikTok

It's know secret that they're captivated, with some Gen Z'ers spending up to 5 hours a day on the app. The question here is why, and how does it tie back to blacked's rise in popularity?

Well the simple answer is found in the correlation between audience and content. A shocking 70% of Gen Z women are on TikTok, compared to the percentage of men, it's clear that the core audience of the app is female.

The other half of this equation is TikTok's 'culture'. With a majority Gen Z user base some of that Gen Z culture is going to come with them, and if you've been anywhere in the past couple of years it's no secret to you the black culture and gen Z culture are one and the same. This influence on the app is undeniable. From the dances, trends, and vocabulary that are becoming more and more popular everyday, even becoming the topic of controversy on some circles, it's not hard to see why gen z are girls are starting to worship the black identity.

You pair a majority younger female audience with an app that has pages full of snowbunnies and their black boyfriends, worships anything and everything black, and prioritises dancing like total sluts to rap songs for popularity and social points, well then you get the blacked generation. It doesn't just stop their either, older people are always looking to be young again, so what do they do? They look to TikTok for the guide to all things youthful, and I think you can guess where that gets them.

So next time you're scrolling through TikTok mindlessly liking videos of cute girls shaking their asses to some rapper, you know that you're doing it with purpose. Helping the cause you love so much and getting to goon all day while you're doing it

Check out the inspiring story of Lindsey Burt. Only 18 years old (as of January 2021), she has really managed to turn her life around.

In high school she was diagnosed with clinical depression, following experiencing loneliness and depression. In her sophomore year a friend convinced her to start working out, and she became motivated to improve, physically and mentally. “This is where it all started. The gym was my escape, it was my therapy,” as she writes.

In her junior year she got into a relationship with her boyfriend, Dajean Price. He too had a passion for fitness, and he did a great job keeping her motivated.

Lindsey has started the website grow with linds, helping other girls improve their body in one particular area: Getting a nice, big booty. Under the slogan “get thicc with me”, Lindsey is offering an 8 week booty building guide to girls who want some gains in the glutes department.

Judging by her pictures, Lindsey leads by example, literally busting her ass to put some junk in her trunk. Hopefully her boyfriend doesn’t mind that development.

Danish sociologist on her white inferiority

Ulla Holm (pictured above) is a Danish sociologist. In an op-ed titled “Sort overherredømme” (“Black Supremacy”) she writes about her own feelings of white bodily inferiority:

Here in Paris I feel the white bodily inferiority on my own body … when I meet for outdoor fitness with my trainer with roots in Congo DRC. Philippe is double French champion in fitness, looks like one of the warriors from Black Panther, and dances to the afro-beats of the boombox as he’s doing a countdown on my squats.

I can live with the humiliation as long as I am to only one attending practice, but there is cold air between us women when we are more than one at the same session. Especially Philippe’s younger female fitness clients are vying for a temporary spot on his Instagram account, which mainly consists of fitness and dance videos with Philippe in the center, topless in front of the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe, but sometimes he lets one of his white clients be an extra in his Insta body show. I am not to proud to admit that I like taking pictures of his big, Black flexing muscles.

The other day I shared his profile with a French friend who answered:

“Sometimes I think that it’s the Blacks who are the superior race.”

The New Munich

This weekend would have been the kickoff date for Oktoberfest in Munich if it hadn’t been canceled for pandemic reasons. Apparently this caused Munich’s young people to grow a bit bored and they had a flash mob party in one of Munich’s central squares instead, which was captured by a local journalist who put two clips of it on Twitter. Since tumblr can’t embed tweets properly, you’ll just have to click on it to see; it should look like this:

The first clip shows a single group of revelers that is almost exclusively Black; the second clip is a walk through the crowd, where PoC representation still holds up at 50%. These should mostly be Munich natives since there is currently no reason for tourists to come there. You love to see it.

How representative is this of the city at large? Like many places in Europe, Munich does not collect explicit racial data, but the city website did tell me that 43% of Munich residents either had no German passport or at least one non-German parent. The ratio is a bit higher for younger age cohorts. While this obviously includes white non-Germans, it also excludes Black and Brown Germans whose parents already had citizenship, so all in all, what we see here are more or less the future faces of Munich.

How representative is Munich of Germany at large? It’s in the top 5 of major cities in terms of its migrant population. So what we see here is a bit of an outlier, but all the outliers are major centers of economic and political power, so they ultimately get to shape what we see as normal; and this here is a normal European metropolis in 2020. If you listen very closely, you can hear a white nationalist cry in front of his computer.
