A few thoughts about evil flowers:
1. They drain sanity. Duh. What if they did it directly? augh so evil.
2. What if flowers turned evil as your sanity drops, just as rabbits turn into beardlings? Once you go insane, you get new and easier ways to go even more insane!
3. Suppose you've lost enough of your mind already that you can't distinct their evil aura. You weave the peculiar flowers you found into a wreath to preserve the last crumbs of your sanity but accidentally end up with your brain turned into fertiliser.
