Steve should have known something was up when he saw the smug look on Tina's face in the hallway this morning. It was a look that she reserved only for moments when she felt like she was winning and it didn't take much longer for him to find out the reason behind it. When he and Alice had snuck up to this bedroom during the party over the weekend, their absence had not gone unnoticed. Ultimately he was able to figure out that it was Tommy who had heard them and then slithered back to Billy like the snake he is with the information so he could pass it along to Tina and then everyone else. It didn't affect his reputation any; he was the King and people just expected him to laid because he was popular and a flirt. Alice didn't have that same luxury as her crown came with a much stricter set of rules, particularly as a woman. Tommy knew that and so did Tina which was exactly why they were looking so damn pleased with themselves.

When he manages to find Alice, he slips his hand in hers and pulls her aside into one of the empty rooms so they could talk privately. "It was Tommy," he informs her with a heavy sigh, mouth twitching in anger at the whole situation because even if he was an asshole, he should have shown some ounce of goddamn loyalty toward Steve as his 'best friend'. Tommy didn't need to like Alice to still keep his mouth shut about what they were doing and now her name was being dragged through the mud all because they slept together. "He said he was looking for a room with Carol and heard us but that's bullshit. He's been wanting this to blow up since we started fake dating and now he's found something he can use against you. He told Billy and Billy told Tina and Tina told whoever would listen because that's the only way she knows how to stay relevant. And Billy just wants my damn crown so of course he hopped straight on board and helped spread this shit."

Taking a deep breath after his rant, he visibly softens when his eyes finally catch her expression because as angry as he was, she was the only one that had to deal with all the consequences right now. She could put up a strong front better than anyone but he could see through it in an instant and he so badly wanted to be able to fix things right now. He didn't know how to do that but he knew that he had to do something to save her from the hateful shaming that was being violently hurled her way. Gently reaching his hand out to cup the side of her face without much thought to how that might be perceived by her given their continued denial about one another, he locks his gaze on hers before speaking again. "Everything's gonna be fine. I'm gonna fix this, okay? I promise." He dips his head down then and catches her lips in a tender kiss; one full of the promise he had just made. Sprinkling a little extra reassurance on top with the way his thumb softly strokes her cheek before he finally pulls away.
