Writing Advice that Will Save You from Crying over Chapter 3 Again

☽ Sometimes “writer’s block” is actually just your story being broken and your brain knowing before you do. Respect the vibes, go back. Something stinks.

☽ If you’re stuck in the middle, skip to the part you’re excited to write. Chronological writing is a suggestion, not a law.

☽ “Kill your darlings” is not about deleting every cool thing you love. It’s about not hoarding scenes like a dragon with dialogue you wrote in 2017 that doesn’t even make sense anymore.

☽ You do not need to write like your favorite author. You need to write like you, caffeinated and slightly unstable.

☽ Talking to yourself in the mirror as your character is not weird. It’s called method writing. You’re not unhinged, you’re dedicated.

☽ Aesthetic Pinterest boards and playlists are writing progress if they make you feel like a god again.

☽ You can write the climax before you finish Act 1. You can rewrite Chapter 1 thirty times and then delete it anyway. You’re not behind, you’re in hell with the rest of us.

You’re allowed to write stuff that’s not “marketable.” You’re allowed to be weird. Write the story that would make you feel seen. The niche finds its freaks.

☽ Beta readers are not gods. Take what resonates, ignore what doesn’t. If five people say your story drags at Chapter 8? Maybe listen. If one person says “make it all about the dog,” maybe don’t.

More art from Ayaka Murakami. The Akoya was due to the Medicos China outfits, while the En was due to his birthday on the 2nd of July and the Haikara petals are due to the debut of Haikara. The art with the Haikara logo in the top left is based on the voice actors during a Hainama.

On the 7th of July 2025 (Haikara's debut date and Tanabata), this could be found at the entrance of Studio Deen.

The Haikara OP and ED are available on streaming services and have been since Jul. 9th 2025. Details for the CD release can be found here. There will also be a meet and greet at Pony Canyon on the 23rd of August 2025 for celebrating the CD release.

As reported previously, there will be heart-shaped can badges and nesoberi plushes of the Haikara characters from Sega Plaza. They will be available in game centres across Japan and online crane services from the 11th of July 2025. The 1st round of nesoberi plushes has Unzen, Sukayu and Unohana, while the 2nd round (from the 22nd of August 2025) has Oshamanbe, Aso and Nuru. The heart badges have a hologram-like sparkle effect.

Haikara ep. 1 spoilers! As reported previously, Yuki Kaji is the voice of the monster of the day in Haikara ep. 1, Siberia-o, aka Toshiteru Fuwa (in English name order) or the Siberia Monster ("Siberia" is not just a region in Russia, but also a dagashi (sweet) which is made of castella cake and youkan). The 1st Haikara Blu-Ray comes out September 24th 2025. Ayaka Murakami did the jacket illustration. There will be a special booklet with it which has never-before-seen illustrations.

Ayaka Murakami says of this picture it refers to a moment in the Hainama from the 14th of July 2025 (34:00 if you can still refer to it) where Nagaoka talks about dancing naked. She also says she thought about including that bit (the bit under the 解禁 kanji, where 解禁 means "revealed") but got cold feet about it, although she came close.

The full name of the Hainama is, according to Yoko Kawahara, "The Livestream Where the Haikara Roman-dan Open-heartedly Change the Future, or in Short, Hainama!". (Note "open-heartedly" in this case, is read karatto.)

Princess Cafe is teaming up with Boueibu for a cafe in Tokyo (Asakusa) and Osaka with the theme of constellations...although En has a hydra instead of a crab (the crab was sent as a distraction during Hercules's second labour, the defeat of the Lernaean hydra, and thus it became the star sign Cancer - he also has buttons shaped like crab claws on his sleeve). Also note, among other details, Atsushi's gold monocle and Ryuu's trident/two fish. The cafe runs from Jul. 25th - Aug. 11th 2025.

Unfortunately, I don't have an Artfight account despite seeing everyone have such a good time with it every year, but I very much appreciate the thought~ <3

I still haven't tried my hand at drawing this cutie yet, but I finally finished coloring a final (for now) ref for her! Her name is Precious, I got her from @drgon-wings last year, and I love her so so much~ ;;3;; <3

Her bio has been coming along little by little as a story forms in my head and maybe one day I will write it down as I develop my tiny cast of OCs, but for now what I have (plus credits for the bases) will go under the cut for anyone interested.

Info: As her name says, she’s as pure as a RainWing could get. Her infectiously upbeat attitude always has her as the center of attention. Her egg was found somewhere outside of the RainWing hatchery. No one knows how or why… but it’s probably fine, right? owo

Design Notes: I can't decide if I want to give her the typical RainWing markings or if I want to come up with a mysterious lore reason that her scales don't usually present that many colors. I'm slowly convincing myself that it could be fun to leave that element of the design more open-ended. On the one hand, her overwhelming optimism and joy of living is clearly the dominant color despite other RainWings usually presenting an array of emotions even when relaxed. On the other hand, she might try to shift her scales to replicate the unique identifying patterns that other RainWings have whenever she is asked about it except she's rarely consistent about which pattern she chooses because it's more fun to be spontaneous. One of her favorites is a spiral pattern.

Backstory:

An animus created an egg from some “materials” that were lying around and enchanted it to grow as any normal dragon would. This egg was then planted either in or near the RainWing hatchery with the intention that the resulting creature would assimilate into the tribe. No one knows where this egg came from (the assumption was that it had simply been misplaced) and therefore no one knows its nature. In fact, it looked just as colorful as the other eggs that there was never any suspicion that it wasn’t a proper RainWing egg.

The only hint of suspicion or curiosity comes from the NightWing reaper (Nekros) who was drawn to the egg for reasons he was unable to pinpoint. He definitely sensed life within the egg, but it was a strange sort of thing unlike any soul he had met before. The constant hum of the cosmos sang from within its shell, but the hatchling remained cold and unmoving – not quite dead, not quite sleeping; almost as though awaiting orders. Had the creature responsible for this egg marked it for some terrible fate or was this some new manner of dragon that might fall into dangerous hands if left unguarded? Remembering the conditions of his own hatching, although certain that this entity was no reaper, he endeavored to watch over it until a dragon he deemed trustworthy came along to find and raise it and he has been watching from a distance ever since. Just in case.

The nature of her egg’s creation and hatching likely explains some of Precious’ quirks. She doesn’t mind being a little different; she just knows that she is extremely happy to be here and she loves to make everyone feel as happy as she does! Having hatched in the presence of her adoptive family, Precious has never seen Nekros, but some part of her senses him nearby and one day she is determined to find out what that is just as he is (unbeknownst to her) determined to discover the nature of her existence so he can ensure that she remains safe.

Currently, as Precious has not displayed any signs of magic herself, there has been no hint of animus magic in her blood. Was she placed with the RainWings in an attempt to hide her until her creator could return to claim her, was she abandoned as a “failed experiment”, or is this step one in a nefarious infiltration scheme? What other enchantments may have been placed on her? She wants to help her RainWing family, but perhaps there will come a time when she reaches a specific age and awakens to some secret orders.
