Just finished watching Elio and something I want to talk about:

ELIO MADE OLGAS DREAM COME TRUE!! SHE WANTED TO BE AN ASTRONAUT!! SHE WANTED TO GO TO SPACE!! Elio was the reason she had to put her dream aside, AND was the reason she got to experience it 10x more than anything on Earth would have allowed.

Elio thought he was the reason Olga couldn’t chase her dreams but in reality he was the reason she got to.

With that being said: STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW DISNEY ISNT MAKING ANY MORE ORIGINALS AND GO FUCKING SUPPORT AN ORIGINAL MOVIE!! IT STOPS BEING A ‘BOX OFFICE FAILURE’ WITH US!! (Not actually I’m not gonna sit here and blame its ‘failure’ on the fanbase that’s 100% disneys fault it didn’t do as good as it should have don’t blame yourself yall it’s the evil corpos fault).

I just noticed and it's breaking my heart so I'm going to point it out, while singing "What It Sounds Like" Mira and Zoey were fighting the other Saja Boys but Rumi was just walking towards Jinu and she was smiling at him. She wasn't going to fight him she was going to reach out to him again to try and save him.

And the lines she sings while looking straight at him as she's walking foreward through the battle are "Show me what's underneeth, I'll find your harmony. Fearless and unrefined, this is what it sounds like."

I love everything about the makeup in Kpop Demon Hunters. The fact they are portrayed several times without makeup, and still being beautiful. All the different looks, how unique they are while still matching. It’s all beautiful.

Update:

I don’t think Rumi had a soul until Jinu gave his to her. I think she may have appeared with one at the beginning of the movie, but she certainly doesn’t here and right here is where I think it’s most important.

Demons, inherently I assume, are soulless. And I am assuming any soulless being would have died when they killed the demon king…

So fuck a kiss, because Jinu literally gave up any chance at a redo he could have ever had to save her life.

As much as I wanted Rumi and Jinu to end it with a kiss im lowkey happy they didn’t. To me a kiss would have just been too indulgent and too obvious.

Plus, and I think everyone keeps forgetting- Jinu gave Rumi his fucking soul.

The one he lost 400 years ago. The one he never thought he would get back. He could have kept it, and free’d himself. But instead he gave it to Rumi. Which got me to thinking: When do we see Rumi’s soul glow? Did Rumi even have a soul until Jinu gave Rumi his?

Which, if she didn’t, that brings up a whole different layer to this story. If they had casted the Honmoon, and Rumi didn’t have a soul, would she be trapped in the demon world? If Jinu kept his soul would he have stayed?

I dont want a kpop demon hunters sequel on the soul basis that were in reboot hell and I don’t want it to get rebooted/done again just to be a cash grab. But also I NEED MORE NOW!!!!’

Honestly, the use of Takedown in the movie makes me just a little insane. In the context of the story it was a song they were writing to spit hate at the boys and expose them for what they really are. But then that song is redirect against Rumi. It's no wonder she became hesitant with the lyrics, she knew that the song could just as easily be about her, and in the end her worst fears were realized.

my favourite part about kpop demon hunters was that one scene where jinu was actually dismayed about the fact that the tiny hat he made for his pet giant demon tiger monster kept getting stolen by his pet three eyed slightly evil bird thing.

Rumi is such an amazing character. It’s rare that I connect with a character so deeply, but the way she’s written — raw, flawed, and painfully real — hits hard. Her insecurities and weaknesses don’t just weigh her down; they completely shatter her self-confidence, to the point where she literally loses her voice. It’s heartbreaking. Céline’s “education” didn’t make her stronger — it destroyed her self-esteem.

She cant accept her demonic heritage because it’s ugly, dangerous, a mistake. But it’s also part of her and her journey to accept that part of her that she hates so much comes with Jinu. He gives her a new perspective on her marks on who she is. That those marks don’t define her as a person but are still part of her identity.

But it also comes with Zoey and Mira. They both suffer from different issues but are also the victims of Céline lessons. They learned to be strong but at the cost of their mental health, their self esteem and even their relationship with each other.

And when you really look at it, Céline is just continuing a cycle of psychological abuse. One that probably started with the 1st Huntress. A legacy where self-sacrifice is everything. Where saving the world comes before your feelings, your mind, your life. But what makes this story so powerful is watching them finally push back. Watching them choose healing over duty. Watching them say, “We deserve more.”

It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, it’s real.
